It's time for Ubisoft Montreal to hire decent writers.
RE needed a return to resource management, scares, and actual mystery. I got a good dose of all three for the first time since 4. Turning the game into another 5 or 6 would've been a mistake, and fortunately Capcom knew this.
It's time to get politics out of video games.
Read the tweets. He was on board that the animation was sub par and needed a lot of work, and proposed how they made the mistake. His only defensive remark was that this disaster wasn't the fault of one person alone.
Oh no you can't fool me, I've read creepypastas. Hyper-realism means it's haunted. Be careful guys.
No, it isn't right. Legal, sure, but not right.
They've already infuriated their backers thanks to this decision. If Playtonic had a shred of professionalism there would have been a minor controversy at worst. Now the hornets' nest is stirred, and that's not gonna be good for Playtonic.

The problem isn't in the reactions themselves, but how the reactions were carried out. Jontron respected Playtonic's views even though he didn't agree with them. He tolerated their politics in a professional environment, and did his part in that environment. The second he began stating his own views, and not directly to Playtonic, mind, Playtonic fired him. They were intolerant of his politics in a professional environment, which is not a good thing. ...

Karma's a bitch, eh?
While they were perfectly within their rights to remove Jon, I've gotta say the action was very unprofessional. I'm very confident he didn't mention immigration reform in the game itself.
Jon on the other hand reacted in a very professional manner, despite taking the brunt of this nonsense. While his views and decisions may have been unpopular, they certainly didn't put anybody out of a job, so he's got that over Playtonic.
Not necessarily. Rockstar North, which is probably the biggest name in modern gaming that has yet to see a flagship flop, is pretty infamous for its working conditions.

To think, only two years ago Hideo Kojima was on his way to becoming a president of Konami, Silent Hill was getting back on the map under his direction, MGSV wasn't running into any problems (that we were aware of), and rumors of remakes of the first two MG games were on the horizon.
It most definitely did not turn out great. Mass Effect 3 had a truckload of flaws, signs of lazy development, even less focus on RPG elements, terrible writing and dialogue, uninspired flash-gamey side minigames, and half-assed plot resolutions, and that's especially when comparing it to the first two games. The awful ending wasn't the least of its problems but it definitely wasn't its only problem either.

Bioware's soul died a long time ago. Disappointing as recent news about Andromeda is, it's not surprising at this point.
They're released with numerous issues and content cuts made worse via deceptive marketing.
Short answer: the sky's the limit. Being told what shouldn't be done in any creative medium is the definition of counter-productive.
Yeah, this highly rated game adored by fans, critics, and newcomers alike sure proves that Platinum's past its prime.
It's amazing that people just can't learn that this kind of "journalism" just doesn't work anymore.
Hiring Jennifer Hepler didn't help anything either.
It was an awful ending to a generally awful game. By halfway through I started to appreciate just how half-assed Mass Effect 3 was the way I'd appreciate Birdemic or The Room.
Actually I take that last comment back. The Room had a lot of passion and soul behind it in retrospect.
It is complete on disc. Taro's just saying that any DLC Nier 2'll get won't be another sequel campaign or anything like that.
Witcher 3's DLC, his cited example, actually added entirely different stories to an already finished product. Blood and Wine has even been called Witcher 4 or 3.5 just because of the sheer amount of content. Very different than something like Asura's Wrath's 6 dollar final boss.
You'd think Forbes of all things would understand that quality trumps quantity. PS4's winning on all fronts.
