Hi guys, story author here! Boy, comment sections are... what's the word... enlightening :P

First, for those saying "he's just mad because it's not on PS4," no, I'm really not. I literally went and bought an X1 for RoTTR; I'm not whining about that. I'm just sad to see a game that I really love (I gave it 9.5/10) not getting attention because of a poor exclusivity decision.

Second, yes, sales do matter. No sales = no sequel. ...

Hmm, seems you didn't read the second half of that sentence, pal.
"...not to boast and brag, but to point out that console exclusivity can absolutely crush a game."

The point of this whole article wasn't "look at me, I'm right!" The point was to look at the fact that console exclusivity, as awesome as it may sound for games like Halo, Uncharted, etc., isn't all it's cracked up to be, and the flagging sales or RoTTR back that up...

Thanks so much for your comment. It means a lot to me that somebody took the time to really flesh out a response like that. :)

I particularly like how you compared Iwata to Williams. I couldn't have said it better myself; it's pretty much the perfect comparison.

Thanks again for the comment. It's people like you that restore my faith in the internet.

Thanks :) It was an honest mistake, and I'm glad people like you can see that.

Hi all,

As the author of this article, I think I might need to explain myself on the title a bit... In hindsight (because hindsight is always more accurate, isn't it?), it should have probably been "Satoru Iwata Mattered to the Gaming Industry, and Here's Why," or something else entirely.

I agree wholeheartedly: everyone matters. Every single human being matters, and I believe that from the bottom of my heart. Unfortunately, my heartfelt sen...

Oh, I totally get what you mean. Aside from game save files, I NEVER used my HDD for anything last gen. I never thought I'd fill 500 GB this time around, but boy was I wrong :P

And I do play some games like you do. The Order 1886 was one. I beat it the day after launch and had it in the mail to a buyer by the end of the week. Other games (MP like Battlefield, Destiny, etc) I'll revisit from time to time. I logged almost 150 hours into BF4 within about the first 9 mont...

Kiwi, you'd be surprised how many games I visit and revisit :)
I know I'm in a niche category here, but for me, downloading and reinstalling isn't that simple. I still have crappy internet that is about 1 mbps best (rural America for the win...)
Meaning? If I uninstall a game with several gigs of updates *cough* Destiny *cough* it'll take me the better part of an entire day just to be able to play it again. Again, I know I'm in a very small affected group ...

The tough part is balancing subjective opinion evenly with objective viewing of the game at hand. Weighing how enjoyable it is alongside how things actually work (are AI responsive? Are controls floppy? Graphics?) is tough sometimes :)

It's not about folding to fanboys, though. Internally at Gamers Sphere, we had a LONG discussion on whether or not price, worth and value for the money should be reflected in a review score. We came to the conclusion that we should rate the game itself, not what it costs. The review can have our opinion on if it's worth it, but we shouldn't drop a score because of price. That's why we updated; not fanboys

You have to understand that we have a difficult playing field here.

Concerning price, many gamers have at least a certain amount of budget. When a game provides many hours of entertainment, it's a non-issue. When a game is short, we have to weigh whether or not the experience was worth it.

As far as cinematics are concerned, that's where the issues really arise. On one hand, this is a video game. As a video game, it needs to be interactive to an exten...

Solid list! If I had done a top 10, all of those new ones you mentioned would definitely be in there too.

Other than that, though, it's kinda useless to this point haha. Unless you stream, though.

I kinda know what you mean... on one hand, it could've been better...but it could've been worse. For me, it was a very symbolic year though. That makes it stand out in my mind :)

Bro, America doesn't instantly mean advanced... I live in the US, and my down is 1 to 1.5 mbps (up is .33) where I live, and that's the best I can get from any provider :/

So yeah, this digital future is a load of garbage, especially for people like my neighbors and I.

If you hate opinion pieces, why would you read them? :P

Of course, I'm an OC fan, so I would argue that Legend of the Guardians was not ruined by his song.. IDK, it just kind of fits the atmosphere of the movie.

On another note, how did you like the movie itself? I always hoped they would make a second one, but I doubt that will happen at this point. That was one of my favorite book series as a kid. Oh, the memories :)

3530d ago 0 agree1 disagreeView comment

Exactly. If one would simply read the article's title, they would see that I would love to see OC CREATE a soundtrack for gaming. Not for a game to use some of his already recorded music (though I used examples of how his songs fit with some games for reference)

Yeeeesssssss

3530d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

Dude, I totally recommend it. Granted, if you want the cable and the Uboost, it'll cost $25-$30, but it's worth it :)

3534d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

If that happened, I'd pre-order the game immediately :)

3560d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

I would agree with this; it'll happen eventually. I just hope sooner rather than later :)

Oh, and I also agree that Human After All wasn't that good... it could have been cut in half the length because all the songs basically repeated themselves for minutes -_- Let's just pretend that album doesn't exist, eh?
