N4G GOTY Awards Call for NOMINATIONS

Cat|3810d ago |Blog Post|71|

Well, I guess this is a thing now. For the SECOND time (woo! Consecutive years! Continuity! Sequels! Possible miniseries!), instead of letting the rest of the internet tell us what we like, let’s tell them.

Below are the categories for N4G's 2014 GOTY. At this stage we are accepting your NOMINATIONS in these categories. Once we refine all the nominations we will post again with information on voting. At this point there's no limit to nominations, so no pressure to decide your votes just now - nominate whatever you like!

Please comment below with the category and nomination(s) for that category. There’s no limit to your nominations, but we can't promise that every nomination will be used in the final poll.

- Keep nominations to games/studios/events/similar of calendar year 2014.
- Remasters and HD remakes will not be included in nominations
- I’ve included some explanation/examples where I thought it helpful
- Nominations will no longer be considered for inclusion after 11:59 PM Friday, January 16, 2015.

***********************
*WE ARE NOT LOOKING FOR CATEGORY SUGGESTIONS RIGHT NOW. If you have an idea for a category be patient! You will have an opportunity to submit your category suggestions for future years.

''15. Most Anticipated Game of 2015 Halo 5''
-Give me a break!

I found myself ignoring all the other categories qnd skipping straight to people's most anticipated game of 2015. Sorry but 2014 was a weak year.

jackanderson19853810d ago

so just to be clear u don't need to nominate someone in every category or am i mistaken?

Perjoss3810d ago

I know you're not taking suggestions for categories, but I find it very strange that you have a category for soundtrack but dont have one for sound design. Sound design plays a huge part in games and should not be overlooked when it comes to awards.

Thanks for the feedback!

coolbeans3810d ago

Shoot! Can't believe that one didn't cross my mind when thinking of new nominations. Alien: Isolation would essentially be a shoe-in for that.

Perjoss3810d ago

Its an easy category to miss as you can go a whole year and although many games will have good sound design nothing really stands out as being award winning. The Battlefield games never fail to deliver in terms of sound and the original Dead Space had mind blowing audio design.

This year though for me Frontier have done a fantastic job with Elite Dangerous, and as you said Alien also was really good in the audio department.

pandehz3805d ago

I quite agree with Sound Design category. Most overlooked.

I understand not many sites do Sound Design but its N4G. We don't overlook anything. I mean just look at the site. Packed.

Metallox3804d ago

I don't see why to put it. The average game accomplishes quite enough in terms of sound design. It's not also like we could choose and prefer some sounds over others, because in the end of the day it's the developer's decision.

Best new studio and best new ip in my opinion is The Evil Within. I believe this game will have alot of sequels in the furtue considering that it is a success and almost 3 million in sales now. So for a new ip, this is really good.
