*Just a note: I'm sorry the Daily Visit score isn't more 'every day' instead of its current 'every 24h1m', but that is just the front end tracking for you guys and when we run the lotto we pull from a more accurate list. 1. Competition is open to all N4G users, except for employees of HAVAmedia and immediate relatives. Contests are not limited to the US/NA. Winners must inform representative of HAVAmedia if they reside outside the US.
2. Closing date is 11:59 PM EST 30th April 2012.
3. In the event of unforeseen circumstances N4G/HAVAmedia reserves the right to substitute the prizes for alternatives of equal or greater value.
4. Prizes are not transferrable.
5. The winners of the competition will be notified by N4G ticket on or before May 7, 2012.
6. Failure to reply to ticket notification within seven (7) days results in forfeiture of prize.

What it is
-a monthly lottery contest where the winner(s) will receive various prizes.
How it works
-Using a random generator engine we choose a forum, active thread and a winner.
The finer details:
-Single post wonders, spammers, rude or offensive remarks all result in a DQ.
-The sub-forums located in the N4G related block (Announcements & Rules, contributor, etc) will not be eligible to win, nor will comments made within the Randomicity thread.
-You can only win the Forum Lottery once every six months.

Which is fine but there comes a point where people really should give others a chance. People have a habit of getting greedy.
The best alternative would be to limit the amount of times someone can win in a year.
I didn't waltz onto n4g on day and say "I wonder how I'll make amazon money today". I felt that this was an...interesting community and the chances of winning prize money made it feel more rewarding. My recent win % is more because of me focusing on school, rather than work atm, not b/c of avarice.
IF n4g decides to come up with a limit, I'll still post reviews on here. Will I be soured by the decision? Sure, but the only time I consider a review a "real win" is by the amount of quality comments/discussions.
I can certainly sympathize with your notion, but I have a question: If users REALLY wanted to limit a user's monthly wins (per year), wouldn't they just contribute? There's no way everyone doesn't have enough spare time on their hands to produce a 1,000-2,000 word blog/review, especially since you can save and come back to it.
If any users would like my help, I'm just a PM away from giving you suggestions :).
In regards to chance-based contests - the lotteries - we have an interest in not repeating winners too frequently.
However, when it comes to the more skill-and-reward driven contests, we have no desire to penalize committed members for their efforts just because the results are, well, good. In fact, the point is rather to reward that! :)
The "fairness" of these contests is centered on users submitting content within the guidelines, effectively giving every user the opportunity to enter and be considered. We have no interest in artificially leveling the playing field by eliminating people that have succeeded within these parameters. We do, however, maintain the user-driven aspect by having our most active members of the month vote for the winners of these contests.
