I think I just threw up a little in my mouth...

I'm so sick of these quasi-loli groups trying to ride on the heels of the failed and thankfully gone, Morning Musume.

grimmweisse3770d ago

Thank god you don't live in Japan then, because you would be inundate almost 24/7 with such idol groups on almost every advert and tv show.

ChrisW3770d ago (Edited 3770d ago )

I do live in Japan! And trust me, I do not watch much Japanese TV... except for shows like Abarenbo Shogun and a couple of the older detective shows. Unfortunately, those shows are normally on in the late morning or afternoon when I'm at work.

Whenever my mother-in-law is watching one of those quasi-variety show (because they really aren't variety shows) with boy groups like Arashi or SMAP (though Katori Shingo is pretty funny), I try to be cordial and stick around. But normally I end up leaving the room halfway through.

And those Karaoke shows... UGH!!!

Any 24-Hour B-list show... Double UGH!!!

The Red and White show... Triple UGH!!!

grimmweisse3770d ago

I feel your pain. I have pretty much abandoned Japanese tv due to the whole idol craze on almost every channel.

Pozzle3770d ago

AKB48 are far more popular than Morning Musume ever was though. They're one of the highest selling groups in Asia at the moment.

ChrisW3770d ago (Edited 3770d ago )

Yes... and more than half of AKB48 (and other idol groups) fans are middle aged men who know all of the dance moves and songs.

I briefly saw some members of SKE48 (Nagoya idol group) performing at a local mall near Toyota City, Aichi when they were first starting out... and watching the fans was very disturbing! There were even a couple guys wearing the same outfits that the girls were wearing!!!

I guess I wouldn't look down on such groups so much if there weren't so many middle-aged pervs worshiping them...

Then again, J-Pop isn't anywhere as good as Pop music in America... However, I really don't like Pop, R&B, or Hiphop (except for Beastie Boys).

Nice, hoping for a release outside of Japan and maybe even a port to the Wii U or something.

Concertoine3866d ago (Edited 3866d ago )

@Zichu
Or a console exclusive for wii u. Look at the 360 game, frontier. Even that game sold modest. It really speaks volumes about japan's monster hunter obsession when they'll flock to the 360 to play it...

If Nintendo wants to move units, especially in Japan, they need to partner and make a Wii U exclusive Monster Hunter. This time make it ground up for the Wii U.

paul-p19883866d ago

MH3U is exclusive to Nintendo (Wii U and 3DS), and MH4 is the same i believe.

No more Monster Hunter on Sony platforms, except for the port that even the Japanese were laughing at, which is coming to PS3 and Vita... so i won't be getting that if even the Japanese don't want it lol

Neonridr3866d ago

oh I know that MH and Nintendo share a great exclusivity at the moment. I just meant if Nintendo wants to move some Wii U units, then make a new MH game for the Wii U. Don't take an existing 3DS game and then port it over.
