Tritton Warhead 7.1 has been given a release date.
The Xbox 360 exclusive surround sound headphones will be available in Europe and North America from August 6 for £229.99 / $299.99.
Dubbed as the first truly wireless headphones, the microphone connects to the Xbox 360 without the need for any cables, a first for the system.
Two rechargeable battery packs allows one to be constantly charging in the base station, meaning a fresh pack is always available when players need it.
Proprietary 5.8GHz wireless technology is said to offer superior audio quality over the industry standard 2.4GHz, avoiding potential interference from other wireless devices.
Written by Joseph Caballero - "The biggest and marvelous from MadCatz official Xbox 360 licensed headset lineup, has hit stores recently. Known as the Warhead, this headset may be the best wireless Xbox 360 headset out so far. The sound is tremendously great, they’re comfortable, and wireless in every category, but with a staggering price of $299.99 and only Xbox 360 compatible, is the Warhead worth every penny for such an exclusive offer? Read on to find out!"
Other headsets on the market will work with your PC or PS3, but none of come close to being as deeply integrated to your Xbox as the Warhead 7.1. Mad Catz proves once again why their Tritton brand stands head and shoulders above the 3rd party console peripheral manufacturers.
"For the eagle eyed among you, you may well have noticed that we review an awful lot of Tritton headsets – most of which score rather highly, and rightly so. The ones that don’t seem to hit the sweet-spot on the score chart tend to be those with less features. The Kunai for example is a perfectly good headset with fantastic audio for such a low price and small frame, but it can’t do nearly as much as the Detonator or Primer headsets can. On the flip-side they don’t look anywhere near as nice the Kunai, nor do they cost as little. Other than attempting to cram in a load of hyperlinks for you to click on and click through, what I’m trying to say here is that it takes a lot more than just functionality to make a good headset. It’s a combination of features, build and – most importantly of all – cost.
"It’s here that we find the Tritton Warhead sitting upon a fence between the verdant garden of Features and thorny hedgerow of Cost."
Costs more than the Xbox lol.
I don't like the design, but it definitely seems they will have high quality audio, bit of a shame that it's only for the 360.
Tritton even any good ? never heard of them
Just dropped £150 on a pair of Sennheiser PC360 (officially skint lol) and I thought that was insane nevermind £230.
Don't trust wireless headsets for fear of lag & interference.
I can't believe how much money I've spent on headsets. Now I look back and realize what a huge waste it was. They were nice to have but I can definitely do without them.
After spending upwards of 300 on headsets, I don't see me spending any more than $50 in the future.
Wow I love the price increase for the UK market.. guess I should be used to it now but still rustles my jimmies every time.
