Chris Waldron states, "All in all I have to say I enjoyed my time with Sonic Generations. Despite not being quite as impressive as its console brethren it was a perfectly serviceable handheld Sonic title that's great fun to play out and about. Sonic may have become a cultural joke in the last few years but Generations may serve to silence a few of his critics – at least until he teams up with Mario again to go snowboarding or take part in the amateur hammer throw. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to sit in the corner and muse over why a cartoon hedgehog needs insurance in the first place."
Sonic the Hedgehog has a long and turbulent history in videogames, but which are the best games featuring the blue bur?
Generations over Mania? Please… Generations doesnt have any new ideas in the levels/bosses.
Also a top 7 of Sonic games shouldn’t have any 3D crap and contain at least one of the 8-bit titles.
Sonic CD getting snubbed is weird. Number 1 is definitely interchangable between Sonic 2 and Sonic 3 & Knuckles.
Top 7 for me
7 cd
6 mania
5 Frontiers
4 sonic 3
3 sonic 1
2 sonic and knuckles
1 sonic 2
Sometimes I feel like the Sonic Advanced games just didn’t exist with how much it’s always forgotten 😭
The divide between both iterations of Sonic is now reaching spin-off territory, and the way Sega is handling it is both a blessing and a curse.
BLG writes: "With the success of the films and the promise of Frontiers, it’s possible that we’re ushering in a new golden age of Sonic the Hedgehog. While Sega is looking forward, the company is also looking back. It’s giving us Sonic Origins, a retooled collection of Genesis classics. However, this package fails to provoke a burning question: what’s the best Sonic handheld game?"
