ZTGD | Deep Black: Episode 1 Review

Ken McKown writes: There are certain games you just can’t help but feel sorry for. Deep Black is a competent third-person shooter with a neat hook. The bulk of your time in the game takes place underwater, complete with a harpoon and even submerged cover-based action. It is fun, if not a bit archetypal. Still, releasing it right in the midst of Xbox Live’s latest promotional event, and without warning, means the majority of people didn’t see it coming, and will likely just ignore it. I can guarantee you, though, there is quite a bit of fun to be had here; even more so than the more high profile release of the day.

Deep Black | Good Game Review

GG writes: Overall, I was pretty disappointed with Deep Black. It's too repetitive, and while the locations got a bit more interesting towards the end, gameplay seemed to only get worse. Also a promo write-up of the game I had read earlier had promised me puzzles, but there are no puzzles here, unless you count using your harpoon to open a million doors and gates. There's a multiplayer mode in here too but no matter how hard I tried I couldn't find a game, so it looks like there are quite a few others out there who feel the same way about this jaunt into underwater spammy shooterville.
