Assassin's Creed 3 uses new engine, allows over 2,000 characters on screen

IncGamers: According to Assassin's Creed IP development manager Tommy Francois, AnvilNext allows the dev team to include over 2,000 characters on-screen at any one time, implement a dynamic weather system and completely overhaul the animation system. (Assassin's Creed III, PC, PS3, Xbox 360)

From what I have read yes there will. Looks like there are some huge battles where two armies fight each other.

If it can allow over 2,000 models, each with their AIs, to appear on screen simultaneously while keeping a constant framerate, I will be very impressed.

It would make for some epic battles between Americans and British.

There's not going be AI, just duplicated animated models. There no way consoles can handle that much AI. My high-end PC has trouble with 1000 AI Skyrim battles.

Yeah that makes sense. Just repeated script of animations of individual soldiers fighting each other.

most likely like the scene from the trailer, models so small that they can be really low detail and all use the same basic animations etc.
It looks cool and is still an amazing feat in engineering.

It's basically the same technique that the Total War games use to do their 5000 man battles.

I just with that Ubisoft didn't sell us glorified expansion packs and package and sell them as "new games" the past couple of years. Brotherhood was fair, but Revelations wasn't great at all in my opinion.

I've already got this one pre-ordered though, looks great.

at 720p (the resolution the console versions will run at) it's more like 460 pixels per guy if they filled the entire screen, but as the trailer showed at most it's probably around 25-50% of the screen so 115-230 pixels per character.
