Console Domination writes: Once upon a time, before Gears of War, Halo or Call of Duty there was a game that went by the name of Quake. Quake was one of the best shooters of its day and a pioneer of the genre. Today, with a truckload of shooters on the market, how does one define and separate itself from the others? Tough question indeed. Nexuiz has taken a shot at doing just that by taking the shooter genre on consoles back to its PC roots, added a bit of Quake flavoring and delivered an extremely fast and action packed shooter.
Nexuiz launched as a PC and console game 10 years ago, but the downfall of THQ lead to problems for the inspirational title.
Remember Nexuiz, the arena first-person shooter pulled from Steam three years ago after publisher THQ went bust? It's back.
Developer IllFonic has self-published the game on Steam, where it costs £7.99 (it's £3.99 until 22nd March).
Didn't get around to playing it until after the community died. Great to see it back.
The aftershock of THQ's dissolution continues, as servers for the Xbox 360 version of Nexuiz have been shut down. Developer Illfonic announced the news on its Facebook page, noting that the servers were being run by THQ and "cannot be maintained anymore." The PC servers, however, will remain online courtesy of Illfonic itself.
That's a shame, I loved this game but guess I won't be able to complete the achievements now.
