'Sonic 4': Sonic Team has no plans for future episodes

Sonic 4: Episode 2 could be the last in the series, it has been revealed.

Producer Takashi Iizuka said Sonic Team has no plans to release more episodes in the future.

"We are looking forward to hearing the feedback from the users for Episode 2, but we are currently not planning to release another episode," he said.

Iizuka added: "We just want to see how the users accept this episode."

Wait. When they say that they're "currently not planning", that doesn't mean they're not going to make any more.

it seems they've done lots of changes in Episode-2 to make it a worthy Sonic game. now they want to see it this works or not, if after all this time they still fail then obviously it wouldn't be reasonable to try and make another.

i hope they make things right this time so that the game succeeds for more Episodes.

Accept the episode? Well give it to us for free and we will tell you, episode 1 was extremely bad, terrible music especially boss battle music is a disgrace. Sonic 3 and Sonic and Knuckles had amazing music, gameplay was awesome and everything was spot on.

The only Sonic game released this gen that I can honestly say is like the originals is Sonic Generations, I dont think Sega can ever make a true Sonic Sequel, Sonic 4 was and is awful and tries to be like the previous games but it cant.

They need to make Sonic more grown up whilst keeping the gameplay like the originals not an easy task but i hope they can come up with something.

This is what happens when you try to cut into DLc whats meant to be a whole packageand sell it seperately. You tried to squeeze a penny out of clueless buyers, word of mouth spreads and suddenly you are faced with this predicument.

Ridge racer vita is basically a port of ridge racer 7 with only 3 trcaks? Street fighter x tekken has 11 fighters on the disc they(capcom) expects you to pay for. As if it wasnt enough Activision creates "elite" (though youre not abligated to subscribe) for those dedicated COD feans already paying $15+ dollars on rehashed DLc and xbox live or psn+ lol I mean wow, just wow. Remember the whole resident evil 5 co-op fiasco a couple years ago?

This is one of the many reasons why so many are opting to buy used games and such things are just getting too political its not even making sense anymore.

i agree dlc is a lil out there & has stopped me from buyin a few games waitin 2 see if they come wit a package later on that i can buy 4 cheap but this actually kinda worked better could u imagine a whole sonic 4 game lik episode 1? & then hav 2 wait 4 sonic 5 just so they fixed the stupid physic mistakes?

I think Sega should be blamed for not knowing what to do, they released Sonic 4: episode 1 expecting fans to love it but everyone seemed to just hate it.

Then they went and released Generations which had 3Dimensional 2D levels, fans wanted this.

Then now they are releasing episode 2 which is pretty much completely different to episode 1. I think its just best to scrap the Sonic 4 project and move on. No point releasing episodic content when gameplay/engine is different and when its not being released frequent enough.

They don't have any plans at the moment, that doesn't mean they're going to completely stop making Sonic games. Wow.
