Sadly, 90% of games nowadays suck and pander to the lowest common denominator of gamers (ie. drunken fratboys) so it's entirely possible. Other than an MMO, where else can get you 300 hours of gameplay? Or more than 20 these days for that matter...
Gears of War - the epitome of fratboy franchises
Halo 4 - fratboy teabagfest
Mass Effect 3 - aims to target the fratboy audience with this next installment by taking out all the "numbers" and "rpg elements" that confuse fratboys
Bioshock Infinite - the first blew the minds of fratboys who found it the most intellectual, thought-provoking video game ever created...but they liked the second one better because it had "more guns". Few realized that it was just a dumbed down version of System Shock.
Skyrim - trying to make the game more "accessible" (in other words, less confusing for dumb people), however, at least they are offering enough content and hopefully enough depth to justify the purchase.
