Yakuza Of the End ships 400,000 units; series tops five million

Andriasang: Yakuza Of the End started off a bit slower than its predecessors, but Sega appears to be happy with the results so far. The company announced today that shipments of the zombie-themed twist on the franchise have topped the 400,000 mark, just two weeks after release. Additionally, Sega said that the worldwide shipment figure for the full Yakuza series has topped the 5 million mark.

superb sales for yakuza.

with an exception of a very few games, this just shows that 97% japanese-made titles sell really well if its on ps3.

i hope japanese developers/publishers ditch altogether 360 development to avoid loses. no flaming for 360 owners but that's just how it is.

wazzim4692d ago

No it isn't, porting to 360 from PS3 will rarely cause losses.

banned_nope4692d ago

porting has corresponding cost. japanese 360 title don't sell really well. we know that already. only games that sell for 360 are shooters.

Malice-Flare4692d ago

will we see these in the west???

Inception4692d ago

I hope SEGA will localize Kenzan, Black Panther, and of the End, specially Black Panther cause this game is really awesome.

Horrible sales for a series. There have been 6 or 7 games and only 5 million sold worldwide? I'm still working my way through Yakuza 4, I haven't gotten very far with all the new games coming out, but I think I'll get back into it during a dry spell.

.
I still want this to come in English along with Kenzan.

Yakuza: Dead Souls Review [NoSleepGamer]

NoSleepGamer writes: Shuffling up to the zombie party the day after the night before can hardly be called fashionably late, but here we finally are. The Yakuza series is renowned for its unique blend of beat em’ up RPG, so it was surprising and (whisper it), slightly disappointing to see them announce a gun-packed zombie game when all I really wanted was a new city to play in with Kiryu and the rest of the face-stomping gang.

Yakuza: Dead Souls Review – PSLS

Heath of PSLS has praise for the story and boss battles of Yakuza: Of the End, to be called Yakuza: Dead Souls in Europe and NA, concluding, "As a huge Yakuza fan myself, I somewhat enjoyed the game, but wish there would have been a little better pacing and more chances to explore. Dead Souls ends up being OK for what it is."

Judging by this and Eurogamer's import review, Dead Souls isn't up to the usual standard of the Yakuza games, but I'll probably still get it anyway. I'm a sucker for Kazuma and his ragtag crew of shady characters.

T3mpr1x4561d ago

Definitely passing this game up then.

Lifewish4561d ago

I still want to give it a try since I have loved the Yakuza games, but this score does hurt a bit :(

knifefight4561d ago

You should check it out. It's decent for Yakuza fans. Wait for a price drop or pick it up used or possibly make it a rental. It's worth the satisfaction of your curiosity, at the very least.

Lifewish4561d ago

I still plan to get it.. at least as a rental.

Yakuza: Dead Souls hands-on preview (PSLS)

PlayStation LifeStyle's Heath Hindman has been playing the latest PS3 Yakuza and says, "Unlike previous Yakuza games which focused 90 per cent of their combat on the hand-to-hand aspect of things, fighting in this one is all about firearms. The cover has each character holding what will probably turn out to be a favorite gun of his. So far, Akiyama’s primary tool of death (“undeath?”) has been a 9mm handgun. Holding R2 brings up crosshairs, helping the player pull off head shots, which are one-hit kills despite the aforementioned inconsistency. When Akiyama’s heat gauge fills up, he can try 'Heat Sniping,' which will trigger a Quick-Time Event zooming in on an item that, if shot, can cause some beautiful destruction. An early example of this is shooting the gas tank of a car, causing it to explode and take out the crew of zombies huddling around it probably talking about how they wish it had brains so that they could eat them and then listen to The Cure."

I love the Yakuza series and this looks like it will be fun!

BigWoopMagazine4586d ago

Heh, inconsistent indeed. Sort of like how Nathan Drake can take a couple bullets and in a mere 30 seconds be fully healed, but in a cutscene he takes a bullet to the gut and suddenly it really effects him! Oh well, as long as it's fun, that's all that really matters.

joinsideke4586d ago

Maybe it's a silver bullet?

uh oh, let the fan fiction commence.

Cloudberry4586d ago (Edited 4586d ago )

.
This game will be mine.

insertcoin4586d ago

Is this payback for Kazuma bumping into every person in Kamurocho?
