Eurogamer - Legendary first-person shooter developer id Software predicts two-thirds of the sales of upcoming game Rage will be for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
That leaves around a third of sales for the PC.
"Roughly," Todd Hollenshead, co-owner and CEO of id Software, told Eurogamer.
Neil writes: "Just been paid? Fancy getting a new game added to that backlog of shame? The Xbox Deals With Gold and Spotlight Sale is back with even more discounts on a variety of great Xbox titles. If you've got time in your life for a new gaming experience, the following bargain basement titles are available for your cut-price purchasing between 4th-10th August 2020."
Rage from id Software and Bethesda Softworks was largely overlooked, yet its handcrafted FPS open world and memorable characters transcend genre convention.
YouTube’s members ‘Digital Dreams’ and ‘Jose cangrejo’ have shared some videos, showcasing Pascal Gilcher’s Reshade mod – which adds Ray Tracing/Path Tracing effects – in some really old games such as Star Wars The Force Unleashed, Crysis 2, RAGE and Resident Evil 6.
I'm still learning how to look for the differences. At first I was focusing on shadows for some reason but I don't think that changes much, is it reflections that change?
It supposed to add more realistic light Not actually more light effects and explosions
I hate to say it but I’m fine with fake lights, shadows, reflections. I just kind of like the effect, it’s also great it saves resources for other things.
I’ve been checking out some original Xbox games on x360/x1x and the engine has fake light streaming in through a stained glass window, and I love it even though I know it’s not real time lighting. Heck it even shifts as I move about.
I’ve about convinced my self rt and hdr just doesn’t work for me. Before hdr I would even complain damn why are the headlights killing me they are so bright.
I notice most frame rate, then jaggies, then resolution; with the last two interchangeable depending.
Other day watched an enthusiast rave over 4k and the poor guy was in 1080p. I played the same game the night before and thought wow this is clean, I wonder if it’s 4k, but knew differently and I thought wow even resolution is not always important. The next day he apologized and was surprised he could be fooled.
How come the lightsabers don't give off any light? Even in the EA star wars game the guy uses it to light up a dark cave. I guess if it is using frostbite it will support rtx cards.
whats the point in this article?
"Porting to console from PC is old-world thinking, according to id."
"That was the way we did it in the past. Ultimately, we learnt that's not the way you should do it."
- from atricle
Then at E3 Carmack says making it for console first is his only regret for Rage. And that all future id games will use pc's power next! Maybe he is lying then?

Everyone knows it will sell more on consoles.
Edit:
So, hang on a sec... 3 platforms, 1/3 each... Seems fair really.
There are 3 platforms, 2 of which are consoles, one of which is pc. I also do not see the point of this article.
So let me see if I have this straight ? They are saying 2 platforms will get more sales than 1 platform ? Well that is insightful. Last time I checked the 360 and PS3 are two different platforms. You have to produce a version for the 360, a version for the PS3 and a version for the PC.
That doesn't sound too bad to me then it works out as :-
1/3 of sales on the 360
1/3 of sales on the PS3
1/3 of sales on the PC
I mean if I was to say "2/3 of the sales of Rage will be on Microsoft platforms" I don't think PS3 users would take too kindly to me lumping the PC and 360 together to try and make sales appear weak on the PS3.
Hm then ID goes and says crap like this :-
"So, while we're developing Rage on the PC, we forbid anybody from playing it on a keyboard and mouse until we've played it first on a console controller.
We pull the keyboard and mouse out and put in a USB 360 controller, even on the development staff. That's not just the testers."
Not the best way to convince me to part with my money iD.
.
...It will be 2/3rds 360 while PC and PS3 will share the last 1/3rd. It's been that way all year and actually, this entire gen with few exceptions and that is why Dice and EA have it backwards with Battlefield 3 showing only PC footage and when the sales come in, the proof will be there for all to see.
I own all systems so it's of little relevance to me but some fanboys will get all bent out of shape but when you look at Bulletstorm, portal 2, Crysis 2...any of the games this year and in the past the trend is clear. Even when games like Deadspace 2 go out of there way to offer more value in terms of add ons, the 360 continues to surprise. After Holiday 2011, I doubt there will be any doubters left.
Btw...EA is so butthurt about M$ signing these deals with Activision for, no doubt, what must be millions of dollars that they go out of there way to try and punish M$ by supporting the PS3 version with extra content. MOH with a old MOH game...Deadspace 2 with the Wii version and now Battlefield 3 with that older game and yet it's the 360 that always has the higher sales...lol
