Check out a GameSpot exclusive E3 teaser trailer for Final Fantasy XIII-2.
I really couldnt tell what it looked like. If they want to convince us this isnt the stinker 13 was then they better show more....
13 seconds in wtf is that following him 11 seconds chocobo on the beach also at 13 seconds in pulsework soldier mech on ally team 16 seconds in changed the menu buffs are next to ally name ins there also seems to be some different elements to the game from cinematic action sequences to unstable rift sequences not to mention bigger enemies 15 seconds in also waiting for the inevitale joke of 13 seconds in of you can turn left and right anyway im still not to sure about this i liked 13 but this 13-2 seems unsettling like its made differently its hard to explain now i see why its unsettling where the fuck is lightning matter of fact its like they erased everyone from 13 and brought the sde characters to the foreground
Looks like a good mix of character variety.
It does; this has to be the best teaser ever. I say that because it actually showed us what the game would look like with gameplay. Usually, teasers are a kind of "Hey, y'all! We're making this here game!", then they just drop it and we hear nothing useful of it for weeks or months. EDIT: Also, can anyone explain to me why all these games are getting reveals BEFORE E3? This reminds me of what Sony did last year. They showed off a bunch of stuff before the show, so their presentation wasn't as exciting as it could have been. It looks like they're doing a better job this year, though. @rabidpancakeburglar plbelanger is right, man. It's all apart of the initiation. Once you learn to never take anyone seriously, it's all alot easier. @plbelanger I actually want FF Versus XIII more than this. This is primarily because it will be from the studio that brought us Kingdom Hearts, I believe. And if they won't give us our KHIII, then I'll have to settle for something with similar gameplay, which still has me hyped. @Simon_Brezhnev I think I read an article of annoying RPG characters and I believe FFXIII came up somewhere along the way. Were they really that bad?
Im with you i want FFvs13 more than this. I know vanille will ruin the game and if hope and snow shows up thats even worse.
Those of you who like FF13 must also like Transformer movie. All those pretty graphics happening, but you can't make up most of it. And had a bad-ok story.
@Baka Michael Bay wishes he could actually have an action scene up, without the F***in camera rotating around the characters, like drunken seizures.
Awesome. I want this game so much. Edit: Why do people go on articles like this just to disagree with people?
It's n4g. Just learn to throw logic aside.
Cause FFXIII sucked so bad?
Most people who complain about FFXIII never even finished it. It certainly didn't suck, it had major issues with linearity in the first half of the game but it was good if you could ignore that.
I finished it, it suck. That is not Final Fantasy, its an eye candy, only it taste bitter.
Well i beat FF13 and it sucked. The whole game is a tutorial until the last 2 chapters. The likable person in the cast with common sense was Sazh Katzroy. Snow a fake hero, Lighting a bitch, Vanille a liar, Fang a smart mouth heifer, and Hope a whining lil boy.
i finished it twice and patiniumed it . it doesn't suck . It's certainly not a regular FF title but it's a good rpg at least. it has issues but "suck" is not the right word .
@Redempteur Final Fantasy games are usually (or used to be) held at a higher standard than other RPGs. There hasn't been a FF game I've liked since IX. My biggest problem with the newer games is the clothing and the voice acting. Oh my god the voice acting...
@DeadIIIRed "There hasn't been a FF game I've liked since IX." your opinion/your tastes different than the truth "Final Fantasy games are usually (or used to be) held at a higher standard than other RPGs." Only because those are the only ones casual people knows .Anyway it's a crime to make only a good game ?
can't wait for the full trailer
can't wait for this and versus
Kill Hope slowly and painfully and ill get this game in a heartbeat :)
zzz zzz zz...
It looks alright, but it seems like more of the same. I wasn't expecting XIII-2 to still use the paradigm shift system, it doesn't really fit with the story.
Forget about that for a moment. I hope there is less linearity.
Agreed. But even if the game is still linear I will (hopefully) still enjoy it, just as I enjoyed FFXIII.
Yawn....the teser trailer to the worst FF game to date. Thanks Sqaure even though nobody actually asked for this, I hate seeing people who really believe that this will be improved from FF13....it won't be it's just a quick cash in sequel made from the left over content they were going to use for DLC but you know what Sqaure is like "Hey guys instead of using it for DLC lets use this for a full game and charge people full price"
FF games are usually a minimum of 60 hours in length, not including sidequests. If you're saying that they had DLC that'd last 60+ hours, you're mad.
that's not true. FF games are between 20-35 hours and 60 with everything. Last year I beat both FFVII and FFVIII and got all of the ultimate weapons, summons, magic and even did the gold chocobo side-quest in less than 50 hours.
You're insane if you think everyone hated the game just because you did. Believe it or not, a lot of people enjoyed it. Square said they'd make a sequel if the demand was high enough, and apparently it was.
Cause some people can't see the faults that FFXIII had.
if you look are enough you'll find flaw everywhere in every game. the flaws of ff13 aren't that bad everyone make it out to be
You mean like how Dragon Age 2, improved over DA1? /s
maybe ff7 will come and be ps3 only since sony has the rights to ff7
FF7 was also released on PC, and Square Enix owns the rights, not Sony.
they have never owned the rights to it square has always held them and always will.
You might be right but looking as the evidence you could think the opposite. 1. SCEA and SCEE published the games so they held publishing rights. Mass Effect 1 is not on PS3 as MS has the publishing rights. 2. The game was republished in 2009 by SCEA and SCEE even though SE publishes their own now. 3. No FF VII character has appeared outside a Sony console since a GBA Kingdom Hearts game where Cloud was a summon but the PSP was not released so they were not competing. The PC version was published by Eidos Interactive which they now own
Sony does own the rights to FFVII, that's a well known fact. Sony doesn't publish any game that they don't own and they published FFVII for NA. And PC is a MS platform but things doesn't work the same as with consoles. There's no profit for MS in PC gaming, that's why they created the Xbox. They saw Sony making lots of money out of the PS1 and then they decided to jump in the bandwagon. Even Sony themselves make games for Windows you know...
I like what i see so far
As long as there's no singing/dancing i m happy ^^
"What can I do for you?" "Umm, equippable armour and shops would be nice!"
looks interesting. as a big fan of ff13, i am sure ill enjoy this game as well.
okay, the reason that alot of people hated 13 was because the first half of the game was completely linear, aside from that, I thought the rest of the game was awesome. I think that square enix understands now that they wont sell if they do that again, plus everybody will say yet again that final fantasy 13 sucks. so i think that this game could be pretty good.
Can't wait for them to show me its not run in a straight line and find a little kiosk to buy stuff. Towns son, and an open world to explore. Then you got my money
From what I can tel they - might have - added exploration. hey definitely added puzzles. Also this is likely to feature what few side characters they showed in the first game who go off and find the main cast. Meh, they - Square - still takes a ding for keeping the battle system...
Hopefully the surprise at E3 is that they added...towns!
The real question is do you dare watch it, lol:-D
I just hope they dont screw this one up
Square can't afford not to.
Its nice!! Moogles! More open levels, npc interaction- Very nice visuals- Cool!
It looks okay...I can't wait to see more
The face of the moogle freaked me out for a second. The big noes threw me
...you’ll see that most of the time, the corner map is WIDE open. Super welcome addition. And I actually liked the paradigm system, so I’m excited for that as well. And then there’s a mogul. So can we PLEASE just warm up to XIII-2 a little bit more? Give Square a break, I think they’re trying.
There's MONSTER RECRUITING....the plulsework soldier, usual enemies was on our side according to people on neogaf.
MEH. NOT EXCITED FOR THIS. I'M RATHER WAITING FOR VERSUS 13.
Improvements that I saw I saw a dude walking in a town I saw a lot more characters having more spotlight in the story (Team Nora especially) I saw a puzzle I saw bigger maps More Serah
This is why I hate teasers. I want to see more!!!
So judging from trailer they've added towns, wider exploration, puzzles, Moogles, extended cast of characters and judging from the HUD in battles, it looks as though the battle system could have been tweaked. Colour me hyped. I loved Final Fantasy as an RPG at its core, and with these improvements I hope it lives up to the FF name.
Obviously great visuals from Square Enix and a diverse cast of characters...maybe they can redeem the XIII name? Excluding Versus XIII because that one is set to redefine and resurrect the entire FF franchise.
I really hope this gets more serious and darker than 13 did. I want control over all characters. I want better weapon customizations and I want to actually be leveling up from the first battle in game. Pfft!!! I want more memorable characters dammit!!!
Cool. I'm excited. I love that spacey choral thing. It's in the original trailer too. I'm confident this will be a good game. Only problem = I have to play XIII all over again because I lost my save when my phat ps3 broke... Not that I think the game is bad, but fuck that's a lot of time investment and SE said that there may be benefits for those with a completed XIII save... annoying.
Underwhelming teaser to say the least.
90 hours into FF13, platinum and the game is still the worse to date. (Yeah.. I actually liked FF12 over FF13.. it had a sense of adventure) I own every FF right now and have played them all but I can't think of a FF worse than FF13 which is sad. Graphics are the only plus. All you new FF fans who liked this don't know what a real FF game would be like..
