Game Guys review - SplitFish FragFX Shark 360

For years, professional and ultra-competitive video gamers have used SplitFish's mouse/gamepad hybrid controllers on the PlayStation 3 to have an advantage over their opponents. New this year onto the Xbox 360 is the company's FragFX Shark 360, a wireless FragFX hybrid controller formerly only available as a PS3 accessory.

But will it let me whip around instantly? Or am I still bound by the limits of how far a control stick can tilt?

Tuxmask554566d ago (Edited 4566d ago )

Are there other game types where the Shark 360 would be useful or is it pretty much just shooters?

Wikkid6664565d ago (Edited 4565d ago )

Every RTS game would greatly benefit from a mouse. There are a few sim type games (Civilization, Tropico, The Sims, etc.) Games even like Forza would during your paint designs.

Thanks. I still have Halo Wars and might start playing this again once I get this controller. I ordered it last night via Amazon.

Looks sweet i play a few not all pc games with a controller and mouse so this would suit me,that reminds me Tuxmask just seen a news story saying amazons profits are down 73% on last year wtf big fall.

Kotaku: SplitFish FragFX Shark Tries To Bring A Little Bit Of PC To The PS3

The first-person shooter was born to be played on a PC, with a mouse and keyboard. Then along came consoles, and things had to change. The SplitFish FragFX Shark is trying to change things back.

Designed for the PS3 (but also compatible with the PC and Mac), the Shark is a great idea for a tiny, dedicated niche of PlayStation 3 owners who do nothing but play first-person shooters all day. For everyone else, it's more trouble than it's worth.

Might end up getting this for my HTPC.

This is older than my grandpa's wrinkly nut sack! I have it and it doesn't work.

There are lots of them on youtube, btw, and for whatever reason, I don't seem to hear any complaints.
*shrug*

I have the old wired version it worked just fine. I used it mostly in KZ2 and MAG. I haven't been playing any FPS for a while but I may upgrade in time for KZ3.

what?

RevXM4852d ago

I had the first wireless one.
Didnt work for shit.

It could have been good if games were actually coded for this scheme in mind and if the quality of the device wasnt this crappy.

Or Sony can slap some devs in the face and tell them to do Mouse and key support in their games. Ut3 on ps3 is genious.
And Resistance was sort of a letdown when I found out they dropped mouse and key support for that game... still play it (awesome game) but I anticipated m&k support.

Fuck Fragfx and all those pc controllers on PS3. Learn to use the consoles controller, and if you hate it buy an xbox or stick to your PC

Spitfire_Riggz4850d ago

Yeah sorry but the one thing I've always hated about PC and enjoyed consoles for is the level playing field. On the PC everyone battles for equipment before the gaming even begins. The people with more money usually have an advantage. Id argue the only advantage someone can have on a console is a faster/better internet connection. But even the common bundle from any ISP is good. I want PC nick nacks as far away from consoles as possible.

x8004852d ago

all ps3 needs is keyborad and mouse support.

RevXM4852d ago (Edited 4852d ago )

It got that, but Sony needs to push that over to the devs.
If the devs devs doesnt make a M&K input scheme and stuff then the game wont work with it.

I use M&k on my ps3. primarily to type quicker but Unreal tournament 3 supports Mouse and key. :)
Sony could have had some pretty ACE strategy and RPG games if devs made them work with M&k. And some shooters would fit M&k.
Like R:fom , COD and I guess the upcoming BF 3.
