Hackers Creates Dynamic Theme Editor For PS3

TheParanoidGamer: "Here something neat that we stumbled upon. Apparently hackers have created a new theme tool that allows you to create your own dynamic themes. Normally we would not submit something like this, but this is something that we feel that many PS3 owners would benefit and enjoy since it’s been requested by many owners."

I hate hackers but i guess this is a good thing. I love custom themes so i can't wait to see what people come up with.

VINNIEPAZ5191d ago

WOW! You guys are JUST NOW understanding that NOT ALL hacking is about pirating games. SMH

Nitrowolf25191d ago

TBH not all hacking is bad, but in general the majority of its users aren't looking for legit things to do. There are some out there who do want to do great stuff like this. But like i said the majority are just looking for ways to pirate and cheat online.

Bathyj5191d ago

When Obviously this is the sort of hacking no one has a problem with. It hurts no one.

I didnt hear anyone complaining either about all the cool stuff hackers were doing with Kinect.

LOGICWINS5191d ago (Edited 5191d ago )

@VINNIEPAZ- Exactly lol. Sony is after ALL hackers, even the ones that only have good intentions such as a "Theme Editor". THAT is the real problem.

"But like i said the majority are just looking for ways to pirate and cheat online"

Ummm...evidence???

Jezuz5191d ago

Nitrowolf2, lols. Majority of hackers don't look to cheat online, only a few percentage. And this article proves that hacking isn't that bad at all.

Devil Advocate's time to VINNIEPAZ:

Show as far as hacking on the PS3, other than the Dynamic Theme creator which is nice, from the many forums on the underground sites.

I can guarantee that if you were to randomly click on one of them, 9 times out of 10 it will be about downloading "X" game.

Hacking =/= pirating game(people with a brain can deduce that), but you have to be blind to not notice people taking the illicit usage of this all.

Thing is, it's annoying to see people saying that all forms of hacking is bad, BUT at the same time it's also annoying to see people just blindly jump into the fray defending areas of hacking without basis.

Rainstorm815191d ago

Finally a hacker developed something useful for PS3....I used to create themes for PS3 (google: Rainstorm81).. but once the Dynamic themes were released i gave up on it....hacks like these are a god send.

@vinniepaz

I dont think anyone ever said ALL hacking is about pirating.

nycredude5191d ago

Go ahead and download this stuff. I hope you guys understand how easy it would be to include a trojan or a backdoor to collect your info. Good luck. I don't trust anyone of these hackers, whether they pirate or not.

Just Make a custom theme where Geo Hot Gets kicked in the Balls and anonomous get lined up against a wall getting executed... As a .GIF playing in the Backround

gamingdroid5191d ago

But wait! This is threatening Sony's business model of selling dynamic themes. It must be shut down! All hacking is evil!!!

nycredude5191d ago

You are an idiot. If anything Sony gives away more themes than they sell. It's other companies that make themes too and sell them. I am plus member and have download more than 10 themes for free.

Kahvipannu5191d ago (Edited 5191d ago )

I am not plus member, and I don't get dynamic themes for free. So you are paying for them, the thing is, that you don't have any kind of controll what your paying for.

@gamingdroid
I believe too that Sony won't like this, otherwise they would had already given somekind of option to make c-themes by ourselves, or would had given them for free to people already.

xyxzor5191d ago

This is the type of useful things hackers should be doing. It's good to see something cool. Finally.

princejb1345191d ago

exactly this is something useful

LOGICWINS5191d ago

Sony made it clear that there after ALL hackers by removing the "Other OS" feature from ALL PS3's. The only we we can LEGALLY take advantage of something like this is if Sony creates its own theme editor and chooses to give it to us.

MGRogue20175191d ago (Edited 5191d ago )

Here's where you can grab the ones that are shown in the article.. And also alot more :)

http://www.ps3iso.com/showt...

Just put the .pet file in PS3/THEME folder on an external FAT32 USB hard drive.. connect to the PS3.. & then in Themes, click "install"

MGRogue20175191d ago (Edited 5191d ago )

I meant .P3T file..

Anyway, Most of 'em look really good like the Homefront, Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, & God Of War ones..

The Homer one is my favourite one though so far, Lots of donuts flying 'round on screen & looks like a real dynamic theme that you'd buy from the PlayStation store. :D

Also, The themes work on Official PS3 Firmware.. No PS3 Jailbreak needed!

WildArmed5191d ago

Nice!
Thanks for the heads up.
Been waiting for custom dynamic theme creator to hit

Jezuz5191d ago

It works on a Official FW PS3?

Nitrowolf25191d ago

The article states that it works fine

princeofthabay5191d ago

Might want to wait for a bit to see if Sony says its ok or you might get banned.

HeavenlySnipes5191d ago

this is why they went through all the trouble to hack the PS3. To cheat at MW2 and create themes...

I haven't seen any benefit of hacking the PS3 as of yet.

fr0sty5191d ago

they didn't have to hack anything to create these themes, it runs on official FW.

Eamon5191d ago (Edited 5191d ago )

haha, that's why I called this person smart.

Because he didn't even need to read the article.

Project: Horned Owl Review

From the mid-1980s to the early part of the 2000s, light gun rail shooters were a staple in both arcade and home system gaming. Arguably, the genre started to really hit its stride in the mid-1990s. While games like Time Crisis, Virtual Cop, and House of the Dead, among others, dominated both the home system and arcade space, some one relegated to only home game systems. Today, we’ll be talking about a little-known cult game published by Sony called Project: Horned Owl. This game was developed by Alfa Systems, and all in all, this is a fun game.

The score for the first Plants Vs Zombies is such great, iconic music that it has a timeless quality. Not quite the level of Minecraft, but wonderful in its own right.
