How Killzone 3 Can Revive FPS on Playstation 3

SegmentNext - "We Knew Killzone 2 and Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare would soon bite the dust because, well putting it informally, they’d become old and ‘overplayed’; and sad to say, that’s exactly what has happened.

All hope was on Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and future games to keep the multiplayer-mania alive. We dare say that Modern Warfare 2 did a great job for the PS3, with many regular online players and followers, but regretfully it fell into wrong hands, and became plagued by hackers and their shady practices which ultimately ruined the game.".

I always thought in my opinion that Resistance games are better than the Killzone games in terms of story, atmosphere, unique weapons(secondary fire, too bad KZ2-3 didn't have it) etc. excluding graphics and characters(I haven't seen anyone on the Resistance series that can even compare to Visari).

DoomeDx2829d ago

I agree about story and weapons. But atmosphere?
Killzone is not supposed to heave unique weapons. they want it to be realistic.

Killzone 2 does have a better multiplayer though (Compared to R2)

Killzone is the gritty tatical shooter.
Resistance is the Halo-like alien war game.

I personally like KZ more, but only slightly.
KZ2 was better than KZ
R1 was better than R2

I hope that R3 pwns. They really have stepped up in the graphics, and gameplay big time by bringing back the wheel and improving the overall game.

I think atmosphere and gameplay for both games can be a preference. I prefer the "no-hope" like alien invasion feel of Resistance compared to Killzone's semi-realistic gritty warzone.

For the weapons, KZ1 had secondary fire on some weapons. Why remove it from the sequels?

This is what i'm talking about.. the gaming journalism knows absolutely nothing about gaming!!

FPS has been fine since... ever.

Objective2829d ago

Depends on what you mean by fine. If the comparison is made against 360/ pc, FPS on PS3 is probably lagging behind.

FanboyPunisher2829d ago

I always found resistance to be one of the crappy shooters this gen. Killzone is FAR better in almost all possible ways.

Revive? Last time I heard it's doing great.

lol fps were dead on ps3?

madjedi2829d ago

Well yeah if your only talking about call of duty, maybe someone should tell him there are other fps games to play besides just cod.

"We Knew Killzone 2 and Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare would soon bite the dust because, well putting it informally, they’d become old and ‘overplayed’; and sad to say, that’s exactly what has happened."

Old and overplayed i think that describes the entire lineup of cod games perfectly. You know the 1 thing call of duty doesn't share in common with every other major fps series released now. Every other game is either using a brand new engine or upgraded their engine and is wiping it's ass with cod's obsolete engine.

For the top selling fps series, cod should be schooling, multiplatform devs and 1st party devs on both consoles. Not being driven around in a short bus that is constantly breaking down with each new release.

Call of duty has impressed me with one thing though, it's amazing that developers can make a fps game, as full of bugs as a massive open world game like oblivion or fallout 3.

So now that I guess "PS3/BluRay is dead" articles are going out of fashion, certain genres are in need of "saving". Bad journalism refuses to die.

OhReginald2829d ago

okay I understand the ps2 didn't have a great first person exclusive shooter library. Thats why they brought killzone. But for ps3 times have changed. Killzone 2 and 3 and Resistance series are pushing other developers in terms of gameplay and graphics.
