DC Universe went from a game I didn't even care about, let alone know what it even was, to a game that I am buying day 1. All because of the beta from PS+. I never thought I'd ever be willing to pay monthly for a game but screw it. I'm sold. I seriously can't wait for next week.

Queasy5231d ago

Yeah, I'm still on the borderline only because I know I will get sucked in and there are so many other games coming out over the next couple of months too.

TheLastGuardian5231d ago

I hate to complain but WTF N4G? You give me a code to a beta the day before the beta ends? It took all day just for the damn thing to download.

WildArmed5231d ago

Really not N4G's (or Cat's fault).

They gave out the codes as soon as they got 'em.

It was kinda like what they did for LBP1 beta.
They released alot of codes right before the beta ended.

The game is awesome.
Only thing holding me back is P2P.
P2P usually gets me spending more time into MMOs than I usually do.. -.- 'bcoz I pay 4 it, i gotta play it' mentality kicks my ass.

Maybe during the summer if I don't do any summer classes/internships

Tripl3seis5231d ago

Wtf man I just got my ps3 beta 2day this sucks I'm try it rite now

Queasy5231d ago

Yeah, I saw a bunch of people start to give out beta keys today and thought it odd knowing that the beta was going to end in a day or two.

soljah5231d ago

been playing the beta with my son last couple of days. he's a hard core PC mmo guy(wow, hon, dota, starcraft) he was showing me the ropes of playing a mmo. game reminds me of a mmo version of the first crackdown on the 360. my son remarked the it reminded him of a mmo version of infamous. both good things in my book.

Shazz5231d ago

can someone tell me if the object is to fight other players online or do you work as a team and fight the A.i

clintos595231d ago

Both & if u choose to be a villain its pretty fun too. Think of it as GTA with super powers but much BIGGER WORLD.

P_Bomb5231d ago

Both! They have exclusive servers for PVP and PVE, plus you can open yourself up at anytime too. It's like Demon's Souls that way.

Really good beta. I only wish there were more people doing boss missions as I had to fight Queen Bee's level alone, but you can respawn forever while enemies in the boss rooms don't, so u can chip away and inch forward. Regular missions it was always easy to come across people to help you.

So much to do, so many people to meet, it's like HOME (complete with everchanging clothes, emote gestures and dancing lol) but blown up into an X-Men Legends style open world. I'd buy it, but I'm afraid if I did I'd end up skipping LBP2 and Dead Space 2 etc, lolz!

You can do either.

There are PvP servers (Player versus Player) and PvE (Player vs Environment). You choose which type of server you want to play on when you create your characters (On some MMO's you also have RP servers - which stands for RolePlaying - where everyone is expected to act in character in chat and behaviour - but not sure DCUO is going to launch any specific RP servers)

Both server types involve players teaming up and taking on the AI, but the difference is that in PvE if a Hero and a Villain cross paths, they can't automatically take each other on. In PvP they can.

PvP servers are seen as more hardcore, because the threat of getting killed by another players is a more common occurrence. However I prefer PvE, as I get easily fed up when a bunch of high level players keep killing lower level just for kicks (called Ganking in MMO terminology)

Also, in PvE (and PvP) there are dedicated arenas where PvP can happen. So you do have the option of some PvP if you like. You get chucked on a team in an instance with a few other Heroes / Villains depending on your alignment, and kick the crap out of each other in set matches

Figboy5231d ago

That's pretty cool. I think I'll log on and join the Batman/Joker fight, since Jim Lee is playing as Batman, and Greg Miller (from IGN), is playing as the Joker.

I'd LOVE to put the smack down on that guy...

Better power level tonight, so I can be high enough for the battle!

jneul5231d ago

Lol maybe I Will log in just to see if I can find Greg and bet him with.my character as I hate ign

MMOs In 2021 Retrospective: Console Edition

WTMG's Thomas Medina: "As far as I’m concerned, console MMOs have always been in a weird place. PC is where the main game is most popular. MMOs were born there, work best there, and have the vast majority of titles. Mobile is then next in line, with touchscreens and portability that adds something new while functioning well. Console gaming, on the other hand, is not portable (for the most part). Plus, it uses a controller, which is not the best instrument when your control scheme requires a thousand buttons and a cursor. That being said, there is an audience, and where there’s money to be made, publishers find a way. So here we are with some of the biggest console MMO games and how I feel they handled 2021. "

Best Superhero Video Games Available Right Now

From Xfire: "A lot of video games are designed to make players feel like a superhero. However, very few actually feature superheroes or have players take on the role of a superhero. What makes this even worse is that there are even fewer superhero video games that can be considered good."
