Xbox Evolved: "Strange and alarming activities have recently been detected at a top-secret Russian military research base on a remote island off the coast of Siberia."
Bioshock with Ivan. The Unreal 3 engine is so dated it's not even funny and it reeeeeally shows in this game. The whole "time thing" is pretty lame, too. Ohhhh! I can turn a box from old to new! Then get...Ammo! Linear as all hell, doors in abandoned buildings close behind you for no reason which sucks becaue you will be at an upgrade machine, see an upgrade box in the hall, go get it and turn around to a locked door. WTF? The AI is horrible! They get stuck on boxes, corners I even walked right up on the side of one and he didn;t even know I was there. Raven pretty much takes your hand and walks your through the whole game, too. The biggest puzzle was take a "old" box and put it under a door then "make it new" with your device so when it forms it lifts the door up to get under. Seriously, that's it. The few boss fights are so easy you don't die once. Sorry to slam on this game but I was so excited for it then I got it Gameflyed and beat it (on normal mode) in 5.5 hours. Just same old corridor after corridor and enemies just suck. Textures are non existent. Unreal 3 gave us good times but it is time to put it to bed.
Most of what you said IS true, but the game is still fun to play though. I would have been mad had I payed full price for it, but since I didn't it's nice summer fun. I suggest for everyone for a nice price drop, but most will enjoy the game for what it is, and not for what it isn't. I can tell this game didn't have a huge budget, so I don't get why people think it's going to have UC or GOW graphics. Or the smartest AI. It's not. But the graphics are still decent and the monsters are interesting. Bottom line, if gamers are looking for a FUN game that doesn't require a lot of FPS skill, pick it up. But if they are a hardcore FPS gamer and all they play are competitive shooters, they might want to pass and wait for the next FPS that the media hypes up...
might pick this one up - looks average though
Yeah it reminds me of Wolfenstein and Metro 2033
78.85% on gamerankings and 76 on metacritic isn't too bad
Is way more advanced than this game, amigo. If you had to pick one go for Metro.
I'm sure there are better games you haven't bought. And even cheaper.
Thinking about renting it.
Activision game, not buying it. EDIT: Whoever just disagreed with me sucks Bobby Kotick's dick.
Hahahha at least someone can talk about the truth towards hater stealth disagreers.
haha, I ain't afraid of no stealth trolls. Edit: I love how we both got stealth trolled
Activision had barely any input in this game. An individual boycott, is stupid if it were something you wanted to play. But I'm sure you didn't, in the first place right? So you're just trolling yourself? Probably why you got disagrees. Either, you're trolling, or you're an idiot and not buying a game you'd like to play, just to 'spite' a company that really doesn't give a shit.
doesn't look that bad. I'll wait for a price drop though I could get a free copy of Prototype if I get it now...hmmm
REALLY!? When does that expire!?
Is that deal still on??? I remember hearing about that. The video looks AWESOME BTW. Terrific atmosphere and graphics. Metro was a great surprise as well. Definitely looking into this game.
I rented it, was pretty good... But steer clear of the multiplayer, its awful!
looks cool ill buy it for the ps3, for some reason the beginning there reminded me a lil about metal of honor rising sun
I got this game today. The singleplayer is great fun. The gameplay is good, sure it's linear and you've probably seen very similar before. But it does everything very well, and with a good amount of polish. All the weapons feel great to use, and provide what you'd expect in terms of feedback, animations are good. Graphical quality isn't really up there, on 360 it'd be more acceptable because U3 games seem considerably more popular on 360. That and the gap between something like this isn't as large between 360 exclusives, as PS3s. It's kinda like streamlined bioshock, with much better controls. The deadzones are low (unlike bioshock) so you can be much more precise, and all the weapons are fun to use. and leave significant impact on enemies (often dismembering them) so it's real satisfying to kill crap. also nolan north is in the game, it would seem. so that's just gravy. :P The level design is relatively decent, it's not bad. Like I say - it's linear and streamlined, so features a fair few set peices and whatnot. what I do like is how it alternates between killing nazis, and killing monster type things. This gives the game good variety and helps with the pacing. compared to bioshock 2, i'm much more entertained, by the story, by the gameplay, better pacing. gameplay 9/10 graphics 7/10 story 9/10 design 8/10 multiplayer 8/10 lifespan 8/10
^^^ this was my impression of the game as well. a nice solid 8
Lol i said killing nazis, meant killing russians. One of the levels on this game reminded me of the facility from goldeneye :) fun stuff. my major downer with the game, considering i could care less about the graphics so long as they surpass an at least acceptable level, (they do do a lot with lighting and art direction which is redeeming too) is that you can only carry 2 weapons. So you can't play around with stuff as much as you'd like.
A no-brainer for some Saturday your mates dogged you and the woman is all pissy and not taking your calls. By Monday, it will be forgotten. It really is a bland FPS and the endless tape recorders gets very old.
