The trend is currently strong again towards HD Remakes and Sony themselves said to date, that one looks more opportunities here. According to current rumor is a Killzone HD-Remake in Development. Translated Version: http://translate.google.de/...
I'd be very honest. The first game wasn't very good. Needs a lot of tweaking.
. If the rumor turns out to be true.
Tweaking is something every remake has for granted. I mean GoW Collection got 720p 60fps 2xAA trophies. Sly Cooper collection is getting a lot of goodies as well. If there is a PS2 game that would benefit with a remake is KZ1. 720p 30fps (it doesnt need more) + some trophies and 2xAA, would make of this game a great one.
Honestly, there are much better choices for an HD treatment than Killzone 1. The problems with the game had nothing to do with the graphics (which were excellent at the time). The problem with Killzone 1 is that it was an average game (not bad, not good) with really nothing special about it. A new coat of paint isn't going to change that.
I have to respectfully disagree. The gameplay in KZ1 was even more variated (4 playable characters, stealth) than KZ2, with more variety in their missions and a LONG single player campaign. In fact I have the feeling KZ3 is like KZ1 in super steroids + KZ2 semi gun porn. The graphics in KZ1 were good but the framerate was extremely poor dragging the whole experience, I feel the game will feel "new" if it gets a fluid framerate. I'm not holding my breath on this by any means. I already beat KZ1 and I dont know if I'd want to replay it.
I understand what you're saying. My point was that there were a lot more games deserving of the update before KZ1
How exactly is KZ2 any better than KZ1? You could pick from 4 characters with different styles, stealth , Rico's machine gun, etc. ONLINE, also had MORE maps and better MODES, more info before joining a room online, more VARIETY. Jungle, Space, Snow is the only thing KZ3 will have. Only a fraction of what KZ1 had. KZ1 is the superior game. Hands down.
The basis for this article was that Guerilla Games gave a "No Comment" when asked if there would be a Killzone remake, which led the site to take it as a yes. Now I know why David Jaffe flat out denied Twisted Metal rather than a no comment. Anyway, a Killzone remake using Killzone 3's gameplay and graphics engine but the Killzone 1 story would be great.
That wouldn't be a remake, it would be a reDESIGN. A remake of Killzone would put KZ2/3 to shame. So I doubt this is true.
KZ1 was amazing for what it was. All the "ZOMG killzun suxx XD" bandwagoners only said that because they read reviews all day. The game still had like 70% on Metacritic (not that I ever go by reviews anyway) so bah. I spent years playing it online. it was the perfect MP shooter for me. They don't need to change ANYTHING. Just up-res everything, with 60fps and trophies and I'll buy MYSELF 20 copies.
I would love to give it a shot.
0_0....killzone 1 in HD, 60 fps, and trophies? PLEASE!!!
Never played the first but from what I heard it sucked major a$$...Killzone 2 was one of the rare sequels that took all the criticism to heart and brought the house down.
its issues were technical (it was too much for the ps2)... ie if they remaster or remake it all those issues will be gone.
the game had a good lenght, great environment diversity and rico wasnt such a dick I would love a killzone remake or even a remastered version like god of war
IMO, the gameplay is awesome (aside from glitch and control).
YEESSS. Leave the game exactly how it was gameplay-wise. The only thing people ever complained about were technical issues (texture pop-in, inconsistent framerate, jerky controls) that were all brought-on by the game simply being too much for the PS2 to handle. If they go through with this, I will die out of excitement.
The first one wasn't really a good game. It had some great ideas, but the execution was a bit lacking (maybe the Ps2 hardware wasn't enough) But if this is true, and if they're using the Killzone 2 engine (K2 is a fantastic game) to remake it, then I think we're in for a treat. I know I'd buy it in a heartbeat.
id love a killzone remake!!!!!!!
Ps3's new life support. PS2 games in HD great!
why would you want to remake one of the worst games ever made? "Ps3's new life support. PS2 games in HD great!" Admit it PlayStation is not what it used to be, and it will never get back the ps1 days. "its issues were technical (it was too much for the ps2)... ie if they remaster or remake it all those issues will be gone." Really lol black was too much for the ps2 and it was way better than killzone.
how did you come up with ''one of worst games ever made'' thing? i'm sure there's loads of much worse games out there, have you played them all?Killzone was actually a game that got me into fps genre which i disliked before.and i would love to have it in HD. edit: oh yes,i see, your comment history says it all, trolling ps3 articles.oh well.nothing to add then.
Simple answer: Because it wasn't one of the worst games ever made.
Killzone was my favourate PS2 game, purely because of how much I enjoyed the multiplayer. However, I got the game long after the release and wasn't taken in by any of the "Halo killer" crap. Naturally the game was horribly buggy and the graphics left alot to be desired. A HD remake would be more than welcome in my eyes, but I doubt it'll happen as a standalone game. Sony have got a great plan with the 'Collection' series and got alot of people thinking about what they want redone but they seem to package multiple games on one disc.
Sony should make alot of PS2 HD Classic games.
Killzone 1 was one of the games that got me hooked on the PS2. I think it was a wonderful game, with great variety and actually a good story and likeable characters. In one of the reviews on internet it's said that it seemed to be too much game for the PS2 to handle. I would love to see it run on the PS3. I'd buy it in an instant.
