What makes it stand out is the fact it runs at a smooth 60FPS. I just read an article the 360 still had it. I think Alan wake still looks better than this.

I really dont understand your sentence!Since the 360 uses ATI XENOS GPU THAT technical is the R500!Also equivalent to the X1900-1950XT or about as powerful as 7800/7900GTX

*And lets not forget that due to fast evolution os the graphics sets on PC normaly most dev'teams dont take full advantage of the capacity the graphics cards can go!Totally different wend you have a console graphics card to work on an expected 10 years period!

looks like crysis 2 wasn't really in it's own league now. good thing is has a challenger after being on top for so long. gears of war 3 has a lot to do to measure up, the exclusive status means it has to look better than the multiplatform games, not to mention the graphic engine rivalry between ue3, ce3 and id tech 5.

The guy is very nervous, shy or xenophobic. Probably does not get out much. He's obviously not used to giving interviews and actually talking to people live or having so many people around... All that head bobbing and odd posturing suggests so.

Anyway, what I like so far about this game is the art. All that beautiful hand drawn texturing. It's very beautiful. I hope they can improve the driving physics though... very much like bumper cars, bouncing off each other. Reminds me of how Gran Tourismo was like before they started implementing collisions.

The game uses pre baked lighting. That explains the 60fps. Crysis2 is more impressive based on lighting alone.

And a lot of static shadows, otherwise the shadow quality and resolution have taken a big hit to run the game at 60fps. Still a very impressive feat..

I agree BUT thats design choice.They could EASILY put dynamic lightning and shadows but lock it on 30 fps.Anyway,thats whats promised for Doom 4,right now RAGE looks totally awesome.With probably crispest world you will see on consoles and very smooth frame rate plus awesome animations.I dont think many people will notice some pre baked shadows...

Well imo you should expect to start seeing this engine in the next few years. Unreal was a great engine but is at the end of its life line. Id just set devs up the bomb.

I know lighting and shadows are of vital importance, but there is more to a graphics engine than that.

1. Art style, this game has got a shit load of style, it looks great and they didn't just go no colour pallet = wasteland, they actually used doodads ( sorry to console gamers, PC term for items placed in an editor ) and all sorts of custom stuff to make it look great.

2. Textures : this is the downfall of all games, crysis has great shadows and great lighting ( possibly the best of any game ) yet there are some weak ass textures, RAGE has the best textures i've ever seen in any game, even better than HD texture mods etc... That more than makes up for it.

3. Game effects: holy crap, have you seen the smoke from the explosions in this game?, for once they have VOLUME, not some crappy layered sprites like BFBC2 looks like... they look like real F-ing smoke.

art style + no mud textures + realistic effects = believable game word

the depth of field in this game looks great too

4. Animations: this game has some of the worst animations since the first inFamous.

I might sound like a hater, but I just don't see the big deal with this game..

Sure there are some nice textures, and this graphics-engine will surely kick ass, but the game just doesn't seem to have the visceral qualities I expected it to have..

After seeing KZ3, Crysis 2, Gears3 & Bulletstorm, the shooting just appears to be very static and unimaginative.

Looks like a polished Borderlands with a Fallout story imo.

Does Rage have SSAO, destructible environments, per object motion blur, support 3D? I rather have a solid 30fps with all the bells and whistles.

Don't know about SSAO, but it definitely has the best motion blur and depth of field I've ever seen. Engines really don't need official support to get the working properly just a little tag in the driver telling it to draw from -15 degrees and +15 degrees from centre etc and bam...3D.

Don't believe the hype, I'm sure it took them 5 minutes to import the game into 3D, they just want to to believe they slaved for months on it...gotta earn that extra $10 on the game price for it...

To all the loyal 360 fans, are you seriously gonna hype this game up before it comes out? You really think thats a good idea? The game looks good, not uncharted or killzone good, but enough for you guys to justify your 360? Id wait till I had the game in my hands before being all happy. The game looks boring IMHO, the combat does nothing new, just looks like an average open world shooter with decent graphics.

i think the 360 has many things to justify its existance mate...If you not already know by now,the best multyplatforms(which may not top graphically the only three best graphical games the ps3 has so far!GOW3,UC2 and kidzone2...lets even put the mgs4 to make it four..All other so called exclusives are already matched by multyplatforms,graphically..an d leaps and bounds superior to the best ps3 exclusives,all apart from UC2 which is an exclusive masterpiece,as gameplay and story telling.)are in the xbox 360(bioshock,red dead gta4,bayonetta,street fighter4,all cods to name a few..)which also happen to offer better online expirience in these games than all the ps3 exclusives together(when cod 6 came around,kidzone multy sudden recessed ever since..and dont get me started on the shitty Massive.Auful.Game.,that never got implemented correctly...)So there you have it..that justify its existance pretty well I think!!and now that some games that match(at least)graphically your"behemoths"on the ps3 rival console,you start overeacting about it(and I am sure that if these titles were exclusive to the next gen player,all ps3 fanboys would rave on over the 360 and its game library..So put a sock in it and take it the way you always do with all ps3 multyplatforms inferiority!!With some if there is any dignity!
