TRU Website Shows PS3 Boxart for GTA Episodes from Liberty City

TripleChat reports that the ToysRUs website features the boxart of both a PS3 and Xbox 360 version of the upcoming Rockstar release, GTA: Episodes from Liberty City.

For months it has been denied that the content will see the light of day on the PS3, but for the past couple of months we have had a few minor slips showing the possibility that the content is indeed coming to Sony's platform.

This hasn't been the first time that a slip liked this occurred...

Could very well be a mistake you know. Anyway, if it does happen, it'll be great for the GTA fans on PS3. I passed it up though. A lot more AAA games coming to PS3, far better than GTA4 :)

Yep it's there. Both box arts are shown on the main video games page but when you click it, you're linked to a page that only lists the XBox 360 as a platform. Seems someone may have jumped the gun placing both box arts on the main page.

Called Toys R Us, there isn't a Playstation 3 version of the game. Was told by Customer Service that the box art is "probably a mistake as it happens" but they don't have that SKU. Rep didn't know the first thing about video games but was adamant that that SKU wasn't available at Toys R Us. Number is 1 800 869 7787.

Boxart with the PS3 logo can't be a mistake. A typo can be a mistake but putting the wrong logo on box art isn't easy to do let alone together with the 360 box art.

edit: I'm assuming that both box arts are on there though I can't seem to find it myself. Anyone got a link?

edit: @above, I see. It not being uncommon changes things a bit. It could well be a mistake afterall.

ok yeah they have box art for the ps3, however if you go to the toys r us site, then click the little advert, it says for xbox360, no mention of the ps3... god knows why they have the ps3 boxart up... maybe someone should e-mail them and ask why they advertise ps3 version but then you cant buy it lol.

I don't care if it comes to PS3 or not, GTA IV was still a disappointment. Of course, being a huge GTA fan, I bought and played it for as long as it kept interest. That was two months tops.

After Agent and L.A. Noire, I better see a GTA worthy enough to be called Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas 2

Having worked in a press shop for a retail store, we created most of these graphics on our own. They likely did the same here.

If I'm wrong, I'm not going to be unhappy and will totally eat crow... right after I play the new GTA stories on my PS3 :p

Now don't get it twisted I did enjoy playing GTA 4, I still think it's a very stunning looking game and I actually completed it. I'm a massive GTA fan and I was expecting everything about this game to be near flawless, considering the hype it generated. But I cannot deny - GTA 4 turned out to be a great dissappointment in the end, even though it was still a very good game. Repetitive gameplay, lack of mission variety and many missing 'fun' elements of previous GTA games are some of the major things that stopped GTA 4 being the really great game that it should have been.

Rockstar had the chance to redeem themselves with this downloadable content by including some of the missing best features from the previous GTA titles like Vice City and San Andreas. They could have added stuff like gang turf wars, gang-building, buying property/business/luxury goods, more public buildings and stores to enter, and more varied side activities like store hold ups, drug-dealing, smuggling etc. No, instead all they did was leave out these things and just added new lead characters, new weapons and cars, new missions that did'nt change much from the normal GTA 4 game. Not good enough. Rockstar, you ruined what could have been a potentially, best ever installment of the whole GTA series.

I say forget this DLC stuff now, Rockstar should concentrate on making a brand new GTA game, preferably one based on a modern-day Vice City and Florida state with a Latino drug-lord character, with all the missing best features, more newer features and MUCH more variety to gameplay. And make it a PS3, Blu-Ray-only game so the devs can get the best out of it!
