Heres another user created video of Sony Home but this time they will take a lengthy look at the features Sony Home offers.
Runtime: Approx. 6 minutes
Looks great. I can't wait until this is released.
not quite sure what "snoop" is blathering on about [below]. This thing is still way early and the competition is still reacting. Keyword: still.
I guess Miyamoto-san would say "I could do HOME" and MS, "we have XNA," but embracers of reality know that the aforementioned does not compare to what we're physically seeing in the video. Am I wrong here? =]
Looks Like SNE's got their sh1t together on this end. Just my take.
From what i see it appears to consist in only of a few rooms. Now chances are there is a lot more to it, but in Home, how big is it?
It didn't appear that there are neighborhoods of users or anything, but the homes are separate from the world itself.
All of this makes me wonder, is home really a virtual world? or just a few rooms?
Anyways it could be cool, just not my cup of tea, and after all its a beta test.
So this could turn out to be cool.
I guess you haven't been following the videos for Home that have already been presented by Sony. Each person's apartment is its own separate instance and can only be accessed with permission of the owner of the apartment. The public areas, the gaming room, common room, and business area are the open access areas. They will most likely support anywhere from 40-60 people and will allow you to select which instance of these rooms you would like to be in so that you can congregate with your friends.
sorry for not mentioning it.
But anyways, As for Home's size, i didn't really hear much. Then home won't be that big, at least in size.
When people compared it to second life i thought it would be a little bigger.
Still nonetheless home will probably be good.
This looks great.
the whole world looks so smooth(and it`s a closed beta).
right now it is just a couple of rooms.
Sony said it would expand over time.
the more companys that get in it,
the bigger it`ll get.
it could end up huge.
home will definitly grow. especialy when players can buy more space , like a 40 + player warhawk clan room.
Which is exactly why it should not be compared to second life.
Home is not a video gameor a virtual world, It is a staging point for video games and PSN user interactions. Like a virtual chatroom.
I know I will be enjoying those games in the arcade, I hope you get to put in high scores :)
and ill be kicking ass in pool.
Looks really good to only be in beta it'll probably even be so much better when its finally released. Load times look quick. I really can't wait to try this out.
cant wait to hear more details on it..so far soo minty
some people are going to go virtual some are not..
everything that can be done virtually can be done in the xmb.....its not like your forced to go on there... but if you like hanging out showing off your trophies, watchin peoples movies via their hardrive/ sharing pictures at their virtual house if you dont like it move on.... just use the xmb .... period ..no more unneccesary comments
Call me a hater if you want...
This is one of my concerns about the usability. Put a 3D interface on your computer with 3DNA and see how long it takes you to go back to the easier interface.
I promise, after about a month of "walking" to everything, you'll just use the XMB. Users usually tend toward the easier method.
once HOME comes out, every body would want one. It's like myspace, look at myspace now. To sony the purpose is to get more people to buy the console. You can try Home if you don't like that's your problem, you already brought the console. Every thing is about money for home. There's going to be micro transaction. If you could buy a shirt that said kiss my ass or sean john you know you would buy it. People like to copy each other. So if my friend has a ps3 and have home, i'm going to want to have it. just to chill with him or her in the lobby. Play games like little big black planet. plus you can have porn in your apartment or tuesday boot leg movie night with all my bodies from long distance.
the possibilities are endless specially its a software. you can design a software to do anything. specially with physics engine in it. ken kutaragy just said ps4 and 5 is about the network. trying to create the next level of gaming. the guy who took gaming to a whole other level. if you don't like it stick with the xmb its going to be implemented in the xmb or just use xbox live. we don't care if you don't want to try it. your just missing out the fun!!!!
I'll admit Home looked pretty cool back when it was revealed, but I have steadily cooled off to the idea. I started to realize that instead of improving the service, they just put a 3D... err 4D... window dressing on everything. They borrowed the 360 Achievement system... and complicated a good idea. And they are adding to the "micro-transaction" fad, something that no company should support if they can avoid it.
And the degree to which users are going to be seeped in the Sony brand makes me a little queasy. PSP menu? I think that's a step too far.
So, please, put the emotional response aside and realize that this will never live up to your expectations. I see it just like another one of the posters... just a way to get people hooked on the console initially. And also realize that when this comes out, it will make Home the number one "game" on PSN. That's kinda sad.
