Do you have to use your avatar? I don't like having to have one to begin with. I have no problems with the micro trnsactions though unless by buying tricks you get some advantage that makes it unfair on those who can't afford to.

Avatars and Mii's though I can do without if I'm honest-I find 'em creepy. Oh well-you even look like having to make a cutesy character in Modnation Racers too. The damn things are everywhere. It's good that this is an added bonus for your Live sub, though, and MS should do more things like this to woo people with kids/people unsure if the cost is worth it for them into buying a sub.

To me they just look like fun. Im looking forward to Kinect as I find I havent time to play full games all the way through. Im looking for some fun 10 minute sessions on these type of party games.
My Girlfriend is really looking forward to joining in too as at the moment females dont seem to have the videogame gene. Kinect they love the look of it and all want one.
I guess its just not aimed at the Hardcore gamers..

People can bash it all they want but Kinect is gonna be something fun. Yea, there arent many games out that look all that great yet. But Kinect adventures, sports, and dance central will at least bring some entertainment to a family.

As a big fan of Football (English), that football game looked shit!!! And with videos showing kinect's poor body tracking, i bet that game is just kick your feet and the ball goes to the next person, as there is no-way kinect could measures how hard you are kicking the ball and the angle you are doing it in.

Yes you are so right. Its not out till November and you have haters on N4G making out it cant track nothing.
They seem to think.
1. The camera is a dummy camera and dont pick up nothing.
2. The lag is just over 5 seconds.
3. The games are all rubbish even tho they have not played them.
4. The Move is amazing, despite them hating on Nintendo for the last 3 years.
5. Kinect is an Eyetoy rip off, even tho the eyetoy seemed to work fine and was a lot of fun for a lot of people.
6. Kinect does not work properly when you hold a piece of paper in front of it or you hold a Sofa or fridge while playing, theres videos to prove it.

So do you really think they are still tweaking the hardware?

From the time they finalize the design until 12:00 AM Nov 4th:

They have to manufacture probably around a million of them.
They need to be boxed, warehoused, put onto cargo ships, planes & trucks. Distributed to every Wal-mart, Target, K-mart, Gamestop, Toys-r-us, etc.. in the country.

What you are seeing IS THE FINAL HARDWARE. Software updates can be downloaded and may improve things, but the basic problems you are seeing are REAL.

E3 09, MS Promised the world. E3 10, MS gave us a circus, prerecorded demos and skittles.

Stop defending them.

Im just not negative about it like everyone on here seems to be.
Can I just add that I have 2 close friends who have played Kinect and they think it will do great. They cant believe this site. They have said theres hardly any lag at all and they played 7 games.
They are gamers by the way 1 owns Wii and 360 the other has 2 PS3s.

There are no official reviews yet. There are TONS of videos of it in action, previews, videos, E3 clips, etc...

So I can't form an opinion based on those?

I'm not buying any of the crap shovelware for Move. I will play RE5 and other REAL games when I buy Move.

I'm not biased against Xbox at all. In fact my PS3 has not been on lately because I just finished RDR (on xbox) and I'm playing ME2 and on my Xbox right now. But it's clear that Kinect is a turd.

Guess what. It cant track anything

1. The camera has shown that it doesn't pick up $hit
2. The lag (though not 5 seconds) it might as well be, because the lag is absurd, and wont work for gaming.
3. Every Kinect game is rubbish (that is coming from thousands of people that have played them, and millions of people that have working vision.
4. People hate on the Wii because it lacks hardcore games (Move doesn't have that problem)
5. Kinect is an Eye Toy rip off (can you show a game that will prove otherwise)
6. Kinect is broken. It is a fact. Microsoft is still going to sell it to as many people that are dumb enough to be fooled by their Bull$hit marketing.

Why defend Kinect anymore, it has only shown us that time after time, it is nothing more than a big fat F.U. to all 360 gamers everywhere.

There is no game that can save Kinect, if the camera doesn't work. And guess what.

Judging from the previews.. no it doesn't. For example the boxing story posted yesterday.

Not 5.. but their is some second lag, maybe around 2. I went to Gamescom this year and tried it out so yes I HAVE played it.

Once again I played some. And for some games you can already SEE its rubbish and the fun will die away after 15 mins.

No it's not, but it does seem to work well. Combine the use of buttons and you allow it to be used in hardcore games.

Mind I remind you the Eyetoy is tech from 2002? Isn't the point to move FORWARDS instead of hanging behind?

Its funny how my friends seem to think its great, ones got a phd by the way and their both in their 30s. They know about tech they aint clueless.

Do you really think that Microsoft would bring out something that doesnt work whatsoever and get all the negative press and most of all lose a ton of customers forever.

My common sense tells me that Kinect will work fine and people who are not into videogames will buy it in their droves and enjoy the games.
Theres Konami theres UBI Soft theres Sega, do you think they would be making games for something that doesnt work at all.
They have reputations to keep. If it worked as bad as you say they would stick to contoller games.
I have seen plenty of hands on Videos, Bowling, Javeling, Skiing etc they all seem to work fine as good as the Wii.
Last months Edge Mag also said the games worked great with hardly any noticable lag. Yes, from a well respected Mag.

Lets just wait till it comes out and the reviews and my own hands on tests will decide wether its worth buying or not.

I was also looking forward to Kinect when I first heard about it, but I don't think we need to test it out for ourselves, to really get a sense of fun factor that Kinect offers. It's fun factor is really low for me, and I like mini/casual games!

the game controls you!!!! there is a lil bit of lag between the signal the camera sends to your brain and your body actually preforming these moves but cant u see? MS has made a mind control device! soon everyone who tries this will pay 500$ a month for live and will be the controller for the kinect to play its games!

LOL that's true, I never thought about the game without Kinect. Does look like a fun kart game, but the downsides to me were can't control acceleration/brake, hold out your arms, can't sit while playing, and to do stunts you got to flail your body around. Hmm now I'm going to look at some Kinect games and be like man this would be a lot more fun with a controller(Forza, Star Wars, Child of Eden)

You guys know that I am by no means a Kinect supporter, but some of ya'll are just really stupid. I see a lot of people talking about the Football game. I don't know any other motion systems that have even tried soccer, and there is only so much you can do with it from that perspective.

Im interested in Kinect as I do think it has alot more to offer as MS are saying but the one game I was not interested in was Joy ride but there has been a few videos showing what it has to offer and I think this game is starting to look like it could be a good game something on the line of Mario Kart but different enough to not fall into the trap sega all star racers and mod nation fell under.

Kinect sports also looks like fun and I think every one who enjoyed wii sports will feel the same way towards Kinect sports.

I know Kinect has been getting alot of stick but in the last two weeks there has started to be a reaction from MS on the issues ect that people have been pointing out and I am looking forward to seeing what can be achieved with the product.
