MI6: PS3-to-Facebook integration 'coming quicker than some may think'

The MI6 Games Marketing Summit is going on right now and the man on the scene, Randy Nelson, just dropped an interesting tidbit in the laps of Joystiq. During a panel titled "Casual to the Core: Redefining the Gaming Dynamic," SCEA's John Koller talked about social media and how it can affect the games space. When asked by panel moderator John Davison if there would ever be a point when someone could be playing PS3 and have it "spit out something to Facebook," Koller stated that plans are already afoot. He said that such functionality is "critical not just for marketing but for the types of games we're trying to develop. That day is coming quicker than some may think."

this may be one of those E3 surprises. I think SONY is working on some things to surprise at E3 as well as MS.

morganfell3541d ago

Remember, Sony gets to go last at E3 this year so they have a chance to counter or trump any other news.

in terms of social networking in the gaming area.

You'd think this would be coming to Xbox 360 because of the Microsoft and Facebook invesment.

issnt the MI6 Europes CIA?

morganfell3541d ago (Edited 3541d ago )

I don't know why you think I implied otherwise. All I stated was that Sony get's to go last. Why you feel think I was stating this is some magical turn of events or was engineered by Sony marketing is well beyond me.

Max Power3541d ago

is alphabetical, or so i thought.

N4PS3G3541d ago

You are implying that they can counter attack this year by going last ...i'm just saying that this is not their first time going last ..they normally do recently and with no counter attacks that i can remember

morganfell3541d ago (Edited 3541d ago )

You received some disagrees because you implied 1 year = always. And counter attack is the wrong word. Sony may reconsider an announcement planned for perhaps TGS if they feel the need.

And the fact is neither you nor I have any idea when they have countered with something they previously have been hesitant to mention at that time.

MI6 (not the same one as the article obviously) is the UK equivalent of the CIA, Europe doesn't have one intelligence is more than one country!

I think it's a pretty neat idea that Sony should develop.

Though I'd like to see them making both the PS3 and PSP more robust systems. PS3 could benefit from full xvid and wmv hd support, whereas the PSP could be an even more awesome machine if it could play xvid/ avi.

I think software for the systems is something they look towards and perhaps better integration between the PS3 and PSP.

myothercar3541d ago

Unfortunately MS will steal this idea and release a final build to the public before Sony can even release a beta.

morganfell3541d ago

If Sony has already contracted with Facebook then it is a little late to steal.

Trying to figure out if what you are saying is sarcasm or not but it would seem that your post is a bit eluding. What is it that MS released before Sony that would have been something Sony intended to implement sooner? Please tell me you are not talking about Home versus NXE?

This would be pretty sweet!
