Why We Need More of Those 10 to 12 Hour Gaming Experiences

GB: "I remember reading somewhere that we have the most energy and the most amount of free time when we are growing up, and that the level of energy and the amount of leisurely time starts to go down as you get older and older. "

Completely disagree. There's room for all, and all get made already. You don't need to beat a game in one sitting. Sometimes I'll take a few months on a game. I don't mind. If you do need to beat a game in one sitting, that's fine to those games are out there for you already.

Yes there's room for both, that's the point of the video/article. The vast majority of games these days are open world/zones with a bajillion collectibles and side fluff. We could do with more linear, tightly crafted experiences. More =\= All like you seem to think it does.

Also who tf plays for 10 - 12hrs in one sitting? Even in my teen years 6hr sessions were pushing it.

And yeah there's a very few, but not many, hints the "more" part of the statement.

While I do like a short game from time to time - my first game of 2024 was Robocop - most of the games I play are RPGs and last for dozens of hours. I'm currently playing Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, I'm about 80 hours in and roughly 60% completed. After I'm done with that I'll be onto FF7 Rebirth and then once that's finished I have Persona 3 Reload to dive into. They're all installed and ready to go on my PS5, and they're likely to last me most of the year 😂
