Sonic Origins Plus – Announce Trailer

The Blue Blur is back with the definitive and expanded multi-game collection of classic Sonic the Hedgehog games – Sonic Origins Plus!

-Foxtrot401d ago (Edited 401d ago )

Holy shit they actually did it, they added the other games and Amy

Only nitpick is a shame they couldn’t add the Knuckles one as a secret game but still this is what origins should have been.

I could complain about the music in Sonic 3 as the replacement stuff is terrible but that will never get fixed

Rebel_Scum401d ago

Sonic 3 without knuckles is so lame. Cant believe they released it like that.

rebel_scum do you mean on the original 1993 release? if so I dont think it was lame at all, OG Sonic 3 was a very good game at the time, visually it was a big step up, the levels were massive and diverse and far more complex than any of the layouts in the previous games, each had their own music variant, there was a also sub boss at the end of each act 1. Tails was playable and could actually fly and swim. It was a fairly decent sequel by any standard.

Once you've played 3&K though, there is no going back.

@NotoriusWhiz
oof my mistake!

Classic Gamegear games were cool..But what about the Sonic Advance games?? Sonic Advance 1-3 were great also

Chocoburger401d ago

The GBA and DS games could be their own collection. They don't fit under classic Sonic or 'Origins' monikers. The Genesis era games are easier to port because of fan gamers turned pro developers Christian Whitehead and Simon Thomly's "Retro Engine" which Sonic Team used (poorly) for this collection.

autobotdan401d ago

What about Silver the Hedgehog? Shadow the Hedgehog

NotoriousWhiz401d ago

But the real question is, where is Sonic R?

lellkay401d ago (Edited 401d ago )

OK. LETS GO.

Amy was so needed, love to see this. Knuckles in CD is also awesome. The addition of Game Gear games is nice to as they are not accessible on modern hardware.

The art work is absolutely perfect to.

Will definitely be picking this up.

Sonic Origins Plus Audio Quality Is "Painfully" Bad, Say Fans

Gearing up for its launch later this month, Sega has shared some gameplay footage from Sonic Origins Plus. This expanded version of last year's compilation game has a bunch of new features, but the main pull here is its inclusion of all 12 Sonic games released for the Game Gear. However, it seems that their grand debut on modern hardware isn't going to be as great as fans had hoped.

Amazing how two sure fire releases of this collection have gone bad

Number1TailzFan313d ago

And including GG versions of games instead of MS.

gold_drake313d ago (Edited 313d ago )

how can you screw up twice with the same game lol

ZeekQuattro312d ago

Thankfully I'm no where near the Sega fan I once was. Looks like I'll be skipping this Origins collection as well. But hey they say third times the charm. Maybe with Sonic Origins ++ Sega will get its shit together. 😕

Sonic Origins Plus is what the original should have been (minus the audio issues)

The real Sonic Origins Plus should have included more games like Sonic Rush or Knuckles Chaotix

We did have it good. The sonic og cartoons and sonic x, the sonic games (sonic 1-3 and Sonic adventure 1-2). We had it good. Also sonic shuffle a good party game for the DC. Spent countless hours playing that game single player or with siblings.

Oh look at that, we did have it good. This article is dumb.

Ahhh. Did you forget the 90’s? When Sonic was at it’s peak. Or were you too young or not alive to really understand that?

ZeekQuattro316d ago

Sonic fans were eating good in the 90's and early 00's. There was plenty of Sonic content to go around.

Sonic Mania Dev Confirms It Helped SEGA with Sonic Origins Plus

SEGA is making some big changes to Sonic Origins with the expanded re-release, Sonic Origins Plus. Comprising a new playable character in Amy, Knuckles playable in Sonic CD, and a dozen newly added Game Gear games, it's a clear effort from the publisher to turn the retro collection's fortunes around. While it's catching a bit of flack for excluding the Master System versions, fans are largely quite excited for the changes.

However, Sonic Team hasn't been dealing with this on its own. Indie developer Headcannon — known for leading development on the acclaimed Sonic Mania — has confirmed its involvement in this new package.

That's excellent now bring that arcade game to consoles and I'm complete frfr

Number1TailzFan394d ago

Kinda baffling why they didn't use the Master System versions of the games, not even sure why they felt the need to zoom in so much with the Game Gear versions, would've been nice if you could choose zoomed in or not.

MadLad392d ago

I mean, Frontiers seemed to come out pretty solid. So there's that.
But it's sad that this amateur team is outdoing the main Sonic Team at this point.
