character faces and expressions are really generic and lifeless. I hope the overall game is good though.

jznrpg664d ago

It doesn’t help that they made the animations with Japanese voices and you can tell they haven’t reworked them for English so the timing is off .
They better have Japanese language with subtitle options !!
Star Ocean has always been sort of like this but I am hoping the rest is good .

RedDevils663d ago

Your comment are odd, first you complaint about the animation been a Japanese voice focus, then want Japanese voice with eng Subtitle option. Well, whatever lmao

CrimsonWing69664d ago

I'm trying so hard to get stoked for this game and every time I look at it I feel less impressed.

lucian229664d ago

illustrations are so good....and then there are the character models, dear lord.

Servbot41664d ago

Yeah it wouldn't be so bad if the actual 2D art wasn't fantastic. I dunno how some developers keep messing up the anime style in 3D when it was already done well back in the PS3/360 era.

lucian229663d ago

Exactly that.

It's crazy because tales of arise nailed it. Heck many games nail it, but star ocean keeps the same. Team they've had since the third game and it's like they use the same assets lmao. Usually fun games so it's okay but would be nice if it could look as nice as the art.

Outlawzz664d ago

I feel bad for Elena, shes stuck with a cold lifeless stare no matter the situation it seems.

Ahh star ocean, wt did they do to you to make you so disappointing lately. In either case ill hold some hope for it's return to glory with this entry.

Wow her oppai look like a set of rubber boobs you can buy off Amazon. She looks to plasticy I will still get the game I need a JRPG to fill in the gap until Namco fires off a new Tales game.

Hot damn those are some high quality games right there. I've been meaning to give 13 Sentinels a go, just haven't had the time to get around to it.

RpgSama266d ago

I had it on my wishlist waiting for a Discount, when I knew I would be close to playing it, so much in my backlog already, might as well try it now.

Also looks at ALL those Star Ocean titles!!!

Einhander1972266d ago

The story is so great especially if you don't know what's going on, When i played it I kept thinking I bet this is "it" no I bet that's "it" no it's got to be this, but "it" wasn't those things in the end.

It's Japanese story telling style at it's finest, lead you along and let you wonder what is actually going on really keeping you engaged to figure out the mystery.

The RTS gameplay I really enjoyed too, my only regret was that there wasn't even more of it!

RpgSama266d ago

LOL,

Who is salty enough to give you 4 dislikes for praising this game?

fr0sty266d ago

Probably why they hiked the price, so there could be better quality games and less shovelware.

notachance265d ago

It's one of the best story ever made in recent years, there's a reason it was nominated the best narrative in 2020's TGA.

Tapani265d ago

I heard 13 Sentinels has a superb story, gotto try it at one point.

I can vouch for Nier Replicant, it has one of the coolest endings I have experience in a game. Took me a while to complete the game fully, but man, it was more than worth it in the end.

nier and star ocean. 14 sentinels, jrpg dream. Even I can't hate on that.

CrimsonWing69266d ago

13 Sentinels is a must play if you haven't. Like, I can't praise enough what an awesome story and set of characters that game has.

Why did they rename Backbone? Strange.

Tri-Ace still uses their old game engine from 2008

The gaming community lately makes jokes about companies making games that look like "PS3" or "PS2" games. While this is such a nasty dig, there may be some truth to this in the case of tri-Ace.

Sad really. I used to love these guys but man...they just aren't what they used to be.

phallusitator371d ago

According to the this they are exactly what they used to be…

Noskypeno371d ago

The Cod games have been using an engine built in the mid 90s. Nothing wrong with using an old engine if they update it. Bioshock used UE2 and looked better than most UE3 games. Arkham knight used UE3 and looked better than most UE4 games.

Chriswynnetbh371d ago

I would give my left nut for an infinite undiscovery pc port

shinoff2183371d ago

Sh it does suck but I enjoyed star ocean 6 the most out of any game last year. I thought it was solid af start to finish. My favorite game that year.

I'd love for Sony to get ahold of them.

shinoff2183371d ago

To late to edit but I just wanted to add not every game that comes out needs to push a consoles boundaries. Star ocean 6 looked fairly good to me.

shammgod371d ago

Yeah. They definitely squeezed every drop out of that engine for SO6. It was a fun game

nitus10370d ago (Edited 370d ago )

I assume you are talking about "Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness" which I do have and am still playing. IMHO it is a good game but for some reason I still prefer "Star Ocean: The Last Hope" that I played on my PS3.

As a side note I have "Star Ocean: Till the End of Time" (PS2 version) which I played on my first gen PS3 but unfortunatly the Australian version of the PS3 did not have full backwards capability like the US version did. I got so far in the game and hit a bug (advancement to a new area between two mountains) that prevented further play.

Star Ocean: The Divine Force No Longer Has Denuvo DRM On Steam

Star Ocean: The Divine Force no longer appears to have the anti-tampering Denuvo DRM technology in the Steam version.

gurp410d ago

I already beat the game, but thank you

Tzuno409d ago (Edited 409d ago )

It doesn't need denuvo
Looks mediocre at best
Maybe it's a phenomenon in Asia
