Playing the computer sucked. It was meant to eat your quarters. The real joy of mk2 was playing other people in the arcade and staying on the machine if you win. Those older games wouldn’t translate well for new players imo.

I remember it was very difficult to get to the final boss when I was playing at the arcades. When it was released on the PS3 as a downloadable game, I played the sh*t out of it against other online players. I had no clue how deep the level of skills could get until I played online against these people. I gradually got close to the top tier level players. I was maybe 1 tier below. We used to setup tournaments through the MK message board where the winner or loser had to report back on the outcome and move on to the next bracket

I remembered a big DISASTER at MK Vs DC without Fatalities... So no.. I ll not forget about Fatalities..

Tal169344d ago

yeah that one i like to forget about. No gore either. Although the first Mk didn't have blood... you needed to turn on 'Blood mode'

adamwparker344d ago

What? Mortal Kombat's initial appeal WAS blood. Outside of red impact pixels, Street Fighter didn't have it. Fatal Fury didn't have it. Pit Fighter didn't have it.
You roll up to a machine of Mortal Kombat at your local arcade or bowling alley and you are there to watch people uppercut blood onto the floor and bodies onto spikes, lol.

You didn't need a code. You only needed a quarter.

It was only the Nintendo releases that didn't have blood. I think you're only referring to the Genesis on the blood code?

I would love for them to create one more MK in the old style.
