It's still going to suck trying to get an Xbox Series X or PS5 in 2022

Toshiba, the company that supplies a chip for gaming consoles, says its component shortages will last at least another 12 months.

Well still you can get a Series S those things are literally everywhere and you can play all MS series X exclusives there, but for the PS5 thats another story.

Lightning771373d ago

The S is more readily available especially now since the Halo themed Series X console is launching in November. The S is widely being overlooked right now.

EvertonFC1372d ago

Didn't they only make 25,000 halo series X special edition Consoles? And there all sold out.
So that wouldn't effect series S would it.

darthv721371d ago

Im surprised MS didnt make a special edition S as well. Just because its small and digital only doesnt mean it too cant get a themed version also.

"Well still you can get a Series S those things are literally everywhere"

I just checked Amazon, Target, Walmart, BestBuy, MS - none in stock.

VersusDMC1372d ago (Edited 1372d ago )

It's in stock at Amazon.ca for any Canadians who want to get it.

https://www.amazon.ca/Micro...

And also Walmart.ca.
There's resellers there but the official 379 CAN is available.

There's a lot at my best buy. It's so easy to get one

Nacho_Z1372d ago

Freely available online in the UK.

Orchard1372d ago (Edited 1372d ago )

@VersusDMC @Nacho_Z Canada is not 'everywhere', neither is the UK.

@CaptainHenry916 We've gone over this 100 times on N4G, in-store stock varies by region. Some stores have lots of PS5's and no Xbox's, and others have no PS5's and lots of Xbox.

Unless I can just go on Walmart.com etc and ship it directly to my house, it is not readily available and is supply constrained.

WiiU-Dude1372d ago

Yeah they may be the easiest to find, but that isn't saying much. They are still tough to find.

JEECE1372d ago

Haha agree with you, isn't it curious how when someone likes a specific console, their best buy just so happens to have stacks and stacks of the competitor's console, even when it's sold out online everywhere?

As far as the Series S goes, I don't know why people are overlooking MS's site ( https://www.xbox.com/en-us/... The X is rarely in stock, buy the S is restocked usually several times a week, and sometimes stays in stock for long stretches. This may not be available outside of the US, so apologies to those who might not have access.

Army_of_Darkness1372d ago

@versusdmc not sure why you got disagrees?? I clicked on your links and they are both still available in Canada... But why waste money on a slightly stronger last gen console when you can spend a couple hundred more on a current gen console like the ps5, which I'm still having a difficult time getting....

Gamist2dot01372d ago

my local Costco has the S in stock. I was there last Friday evening before closing and there about 10 to take to checkout to purchase. It's a busy warehouse and they were selling them for $289 instead of $299. I could have purchase a few SSs by now from their website and warehouse.

Xbox Series X is is another story as well

frostypants1371d ago (Edited 1371d ago )

Who the hell wants a Series S? It's the 4-cylinder Mustang of current gen consoles. You go with the V8 or nothing.

ThinkThink1371d ago

People that don't have 4k TVs would be my guess.

Tbh just wait. The rest of this year and Q1 of next year will be cross gen games anyway. That's all we been getting so far with the exception if Sony of course who has a handful of current gen games.

There's no urgency at all right now.

BlackDoomAx1371d ago

It's an entertainment, it's never an urgency. But I want one anyway.

GoodGuy091373d ago

That gow gameplay this thursday and whatever else sony shows is going to bring even more demand lol.

Abnor_Mal1372d ago

I guess I will just be waiting instead for the 8K powerhouse PS5Pro due 2024 as per rumors.

slowgamer1372d ago

I think they better sort 4k and raytracing 60 fps first.

BlackDoomAx1371d ago

You will be able to buy one in 2028 xD

frostypants1371d ago (Edited 1371d ago )

8K would be a total waste of horsepower. Nobody sits close enough to their TV to notice the difference over 4K. It would be impractical.

Abnor_Mal1371d ago

Only calling it what the article called it.

autobotdan1372d ago

Glad I got my xbox series x. I have no worries now

WiiU-Dude1372d ago

Lucky you. You have it made!
