Cyberpunk 2077 Multiplayer Being “Reconsidered” by CDPR, Plans on Bringing Online to All Franchises

While Cyberpunk 2077 is a single-player action-RPG, the fact that CD Projekt RED (CDPR) was developing a Cyberpunk 2077 multiplayer component was public knowledge, with the studio even stating that they are deploying the company’s biggest team to develop it. Well, it seems things have changed.

TGGJustin1551d ago

IMO it's probably a good thing. The single player of Cyberpunk is a mess itself so I don't have much faith they can do a multiplayer that wouldn't be full of problems too. They've never done multiplayer games before after all

combolock1550d ago

What runs fine? The game is shallow. This is probably the worst "open-world" game of all-time, No CAP.

TGGJustin1550d ago

Funny because I just watched a video of someone playing it on PC post patch and the stuff I was seeing still looked horrible. People, cops, and cars just vanishing into thin air. The game is a joke.

Gatsu1550d ago (Edited 1550d ago )

@combolock, it's the game what runs fine you moron.

Nitrowolf21550d ago

Plenty would disagree especially post 1.2

Kornholic1550d ago

No it doesn't. The game looks ugly as hell yet it still can't even hit 60fps on a gtx 1060 with low settings and 1080p.

anubusgold1550d ago (Edited 1550d ago )

@Kornholic
Runs at 90fps at 1440P with ultra ray tracing settings on my 3070 with DLSS on balanced and HDR on for me on high detail preset.

anubusgold1550d ago (Edited 1550d ago )

@Kornholic And you have a 1060 its time for that card to go even with my overclocked 1080 at 2159 overclocks and +450 on memory all day for years i got 45 fps at 1440P on high detail settings with HDR on in cyber punk. So yeah you need a new graphics card. If you are talking about call of duty and battlefield 5 yeah my 1080 can still get 90fps in games but cyberpunk is too hard on your card it cant handle it thats why i got a 3070 wanted a 3080 but i dont pay scalper prices.

anubusgold1549d ago

The 30 sony fanboys that disagreed with me dont have Pc's so why you talking? lol you cant say crap because you are on consoles you need to get jesus and find something to do with you life lol and cyberpunk isnt even being sold for ps4 the crap version so why you talking?.

Kornholic1549d ago

It's not my card, you know the most popular gpu according to Steam statistics. It's due to the fact that Cyberpunk 2077 is poorly optimized. A game that ugly shouldn't require so much processing power. The game world is not even that big.

anubusgold1549d ago (Edited 1549d ago )

@Kornholic You are a pc gamer its been 5 years its time to upgrade you shouldnt expect top tier games to run that well on a card that old. There are some games that come along like crysis that you are going to have to upgrade for to play thats just Pc gaming its always been that way. When Battlefield 3 came out i had 3 graphics cards in my pc they were 5 years old and would only run the game at 60fps and it couldnt run the new direct x so i sold them and bought me a new card this is what happens when your card gets old. Sell that card for 500 bucks on ebay after you find any card thats faster.

@combolock how the hell is the game shallow? It's a fantastic open world and city with awesome story missions. It's anything but shallow. The only real issue the game has ever had are the bugs and performance on last gen consoles.

-Foxtrot1550d ago

Fantastic Open World?

Night City alone is baron and shallow compared to what they promised, I mean Jesus even NPCs walk up and down a street just to create the illusion of such a "thriving city"

Bugs and performance issues are one thing but the actual world they promised and hyped up is another.

Zhipp1550d ago

The multiplayer only would have been exciting if they had nailed the world features they advertised. For now, the single player can get by with a good story, but multiplayer really needs that dynamic city they were talking about.

GottaBjimmyb1550d ago

But could you imagine buying the game based on the SP and MP sales pitch and growth over time, just to see it completely unplayable at launch for SP and never actually gets a MP mode?

XiNatsuDragnel1551d ago

That's good to hear because rn there mess of sp can't handle mp.

Knightofelemia1550d ago

Hate to see how buggy the multiplayer would be the single player of this game is a shit storm

VerminSC1550d ago (Edited 1550d ago )

Thank you. Please just finish the single player first, so I can give this game a go.

gamer78041550d ago

Same I tried it and it was barely passable so I’m waiting for the next gen patch

excaliburps1550d ago

Yep. Exactly. Finish or clean the single-player first, and then think of spinning off. Thankfully, they have that mentality now.

Cyberpunk 2077's 2.3 Update Opens a Pandora's Box the Game Can't Close

Cyberpunk 2077 is getting a new update after developers previously stated it no longer would, bringing the possibility of more still to come.

I'm hoping the update fixes their poor FSR 3 implementation, and add FSR 4. FSR 2 looks better than FSR 3 in CP2077 by a wide margin. On my 7900XT I just use XESS if I want to add RT at custom 3K resolutions. Already beat the main game, but half way through Phantom Liberty expansion. I would like to get back to it later on this month.

anast12d ago

I have more hours in this game than any other. I would happily put more into it.

MastaMold12d ago

I second this and a PS5 PRO patch too please.

RhinoGamer8812d ago

I finished it and had a blast, wish there was a new game + option.

Demon-kun8d ago

I wanna be able to dual wield it would add a decent bit I feel hell if they wanted they could even let us dual wield like knives and swords as well or something just sounds like fun to me

Cyberpunk 2077 on Switch 2: a cutting-edge game translates well to Nintendo's console hybrid

Few games among the Nintendo Switch 2 launch line-up can match Cyberpunk 2077 in putting the system through its paces. It's a staple of our PC benchmarking suite for good reason: the open world design is a solid stressor for any CPU, while its effects-heavy battles challenge GPU resources as well. This Switch 2 release has clearly been a big undertaking for developer CD Projekt Red too, who produced the port in-house with unique optimisations for Switch 2's ARM-based architecture. It's also remarkably the Ultimate Edition of the game, with both the core adventure and the more taxing Phantom Liberty expansion bundled in - an extra portion that proved too demanding to justify a last-gen console release, and was instead restricted to PS5 and Series X/S, and yet here it is running on Switch 2.

To cut to the chase, Switch 2 offers a truly viable way to enjoy Cyberpunk, either in a portable format or docked under a TV. However, CDPR has shot for the stars in its ambition to include Phantom Liberty as well, and it's here that Switch 2 hits some technical limits - with frame-rates struggling as we explore its newer Dog Town region. Still, that aside, there's a lot to admire in the game's engineering for Nintendo's new console overall, and how competitive it is in comparison with other consoles.

I am happy for CDPR. Their hard work paid off because the Switch 2 version are always in the top 5 Switch 2 launch game sales.

jznrpg13d ago

Not much launched with it besides ports so it should be expected I guess.

OMNlPOTENT13d ago

I mean.. what did the PS5 launch with? One exclusive in Demon's Souls?

repsahj12d ago

@Omnipotent
Not just PS5, Series X has zero launch games. XD

DivineHand12513d ago (Edited 13d ago )

This may be one of the weakest launch lineups Nintendo has ever had, with Mario Kart being the only first party game, but Cyberpunk 2077 will definitely give you tremendous value for your money.

One tip I can give people who have never played the game is to first read books from the cyberpunk subgenre. This will allow you to appreciate the story much better. If you find yourself asking which life path is the best to take at the start of the game, in this case it is Corpo, Streetkid, and Nomad. You likely don't know enough about the genre, and certain things will fly right over your head. While it is not mandatory, the game will be 10 times better if you read or listen to some books first.

Some books I have enjoyed in that genre are:
Cyber Dreams by Plum Parrot,
Stray Cat Strut by RavensDagger
Tower of Somnus by Cale Plamann
Mist Runner by Nicholas Searcy

If you can only read or listen to 1 book, then I recommend Cyber Dreams by Plum Parrot. It is the closest thing to Cyberpunk 2077.

anast13d ago

Or play the TTRPG which is was based on.

Profchaos13d ago

I'd say its stronger than the switch as Mario kart has a broader appeal than zelda.

It was also a better launch line-up than the gamecube and possibly wii u

DivineHand12513d ago

@Profchaos the WiiU likely had the worst of the bunch which is partly why the system failed.

The gamecube had smash bros melee that launched 2 months after the initial release and that is one of the best games to release on that console. I assume every gamecube owner would be happy with that game.

The switch had Breath of the Wild which is still considered one of the best games of all time. I remember playing through that game and unlocked every equipment, upgraded every equipment to the max, found all the dragons, defeated all the Lynels and completed all the shrines in that game before defeating Ganon at the end. It was a good time from start to finish and made up for the lack of other launch games.

I just think that if they had us waiting that long for the switch 2, they should have more than just 1 or 2 first party games ready within the launch window. If we had at least gotten a trailer for a new 3D mario I would be extremely happy. With the current switch 2 lineup, there is no draw to go out and get it immediately like a new console launch should make you feel. Right now the main appeal is to provide a quality of life update to play switch 1 games.

OMNlPOTENT13d ago

There is also a book directly related to the universe of Cyberpunk 2077, it's called "No Coincidence". I thought it was a pretty good read.

Kornholic12d ago

"One tip I can give people who have never played the game is to first read books from the cyberpunk subgenre."

If somebody gave me this advice before I started my first Cyberpunk 2077 playthrough, I wouldn't have even bought the game in the first place.

DivineHand12512d ago

True because I wouldn't have played it either. It's just that I read those books after playing the game and thinking back, a lot of the motivations of each character started making more sense.

I just wanted to through that tip out there to recommend someone try to understand the cyberpunk genre more before playing. They will get more out of the game.

badz14913d ago

40 vs 60 fps is not something that I would even consider calling "competitive"

1nsomniac13d ago

Then you don’t know enough about the subject you’re trying to talk about..

badz14913d ago

hahaha...what? are you serious right now? the Switch 2 is not a PC where you can just change the graphical settings to get to 60fps...Unless CDPR released a patch to make it run at 60fps, that is.

As of right now, it's stuck at 40fps at best and that too with DLSS from quite a low base res already. so yeah...it's not competitive.

Profchaos13d ago

100% 40 isn't a arbitrary choice its a strategic choice because it opens up access to supporting technology on the console

Good-Smurf13d ago

DF are Nintendo's occasional bootlickers after that blatant Zelda games ad scandal.
Games like CP2077 are meant to be played on big console or powerful PC on a big screen.
Got to love how they're simp for full price purchase of 5-year-old game and still getting the worst version to play on.

1nsomniac13d ago

Wow you guys don’t let up for a second trying to blame DF for anything you can pick out the sky at any given moment. It’s embarrassing dude.

It’s always DF are bootlickers for Nintendo today, Microsoft yesterday, Sony last week. Make your mind up people… pick a side and stick to it. Sounds so stupid when you’re trying to make a point that some company is biased but that no one can make their mind up who the company is biased towards any given day of the week.

stoney10113d ago

Yep, the amount of hate they get is ridiculous. The funny thing is if you actually look at the comments on their early switch 2 videos people are slating them for not giving it enough praise and constantly comparing it to ps4.

ZycoFox13d ago

They had a "Sponsored by Nintendo" video not long ago, it literally says so at the start.

I trust them for showing frame rate analysis and they're decent for that, but their overall review for Nintendo is overrated, Mario Kart is the same game it has always been.

Really the only one that got close to topping DKR was MKDS.. So it's no wonder it's often ranked as the highest rated Mario Kart.

repsahj13d ago

It's obvious that you're not following DF. In the weeks leading up to the Switch 2's release, didn't you know that DF had so many articles downplaying the Switch 2 because they believed it was far from being more powerful than the PS4?

Phantom Liberty is a part of the game. If it can't run it. It can't run the game.
