They're making money with Windows, sure. I'm not really a fan of bragging about how much money a company makes, but they just spent 7.5 billion to keep games off of other systems, and I think they just did that for clout.

cross play was offered to ms/xbox360 days they refused that's why FF14 online never came to xbox360. It only became a issue when vocal minority started making empty noise

Which is funny now that everyone has crossplay no one is talking about it anymore. But Xbox still having f2p games behind a paywall? Those same critics of Playstation go quiet.

Yup I was saying in the beginning that crossplay would be forgotten as soon as it happens. As of yet I still have not seen one multiplayer game that was dying because of low player count saved by crossplay like many were trying to say.

When players decide to move away and move on from a particular game crossplay will not suddenly bring people back to play for long. Some will come back to see how repopulated the space is but eventually it will die down again.

Thr issue of crossplay was just fanboys wanting to hold Sony feet to the fire and pressure them until they relented. Then those same fanboys celebrated that they were able to bring everyone together and revive stale games.

Now the goalposts has moved yet again to there should not be any exclusives and all games should be playable on all platforms. Which again is something I said back at the end of PS3 start of PS4 generation would happen, sure enough the port begging started.

Cross play is a good thing. We have it now, so if course no one's complaining about it anymore. They're using it. The only crowd I found that was against it was the n4g crowd anyway. Everyone else understands that it's just common sense to allow it.

Xbox Live Gold is another paywall... that many newcomers only find when they buy a new Xbox and get surprised... but, well... you can pay for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and play freetoplay games with no extra cost over the 150$ a year over other platforms.
