UltraNova1443d ago

Insomniac is killing it!! Spiderman and R&C??? Looking that good! Damn!

bouzebbal1443d ago

Miles face is highly detailed.. Is this a cross gen title?

Crazyglues1443d ago

Yeah this really looked awesome... Nice Start to the show...

Love the look, will indeed get this one...

NeoGamer2321443d ago (Edited 1443d ago )

Looks like a great launch game! Not sure how much real power of the PS5 it will use though.

The PS4 game shipped September 2018. You see games like Horizon, GT, Uncharted, God of War, and TLOU take 3-5 years to get new versions and we are seeing this one in two years. I am sure it will be good, but not sure it will offer much new other then a new story and new visuals. (There is nothing wrong with that though)

--Onilink--1443d ago

Its probably an “expansion”, kind of like First Light. Even without doing Ratchet it would be very little time, but if you take Ratchet into account? Yeah, no way its a full game (not that its a bad thing, First light was awesome)

My guess is that they are also going to do an upgraded version of the original for launch (hopefully free update for people who bought it on ps4) and release this as a purchasable standalone expansion.

And also release a $60 compilation of the updated original and this one

rainslacker1443d ago

Insomniac is one of the largest developers in the world. Before they were brought out, they were the largest indie dev in the world in terms of staff. They have two full studios on either side of the US, and have often made more than one game at once.

I'd imagine that this game was maybe in production before SM released, or at least in pre-production, and they adapted the engine and design of the first game for this one, which would have saved time and resources to get it done faster.

It could be a smaller expansion type game, like First Light was, but I dont think it's impossible that they could have gotten this done in a short period of time.

stuna11443d ago

Or here's something to think about, mayby it took less time to develop the game on PS5!? Cerny said that due to PS5 architecture development could be cut in half.

Here's another morsel for those doubting the potential of the PS5's SSD. It was shown at work in the ratchet and clank gameplay, when Ratchet jumped in-between dimensions he was interacting with multiple dimensions at once and instantaneous.

NeoGamer2321443d ago

@stuna1
You don't need to be drinking so much Sony kool-aid.

Cerny is marketing just like every other senior person in these company's. And yes it may be quicker to develop traditional things faster on the new PS5 it probably isn't going to be a ton faster for large scale AAA games that are more about pushing the envelope.

I am not saying spider-man is going to be bad, but just don't expect it to be a massive upgrade from the first one. New story, better graphics an it will have a few improvements, but I doubt it will be a 90 type game. more 80-85... Again not bad at all. Just not the kind of innovations shown in GT, R&C, Horizon, etc.

now that Miles is taking the center stage, I'm worried about Peter. are they gonna kill him like in the Spider-verse movie?? I really hope not

How did this comment got 11 disagrees, is beyond me.

jjb19811443d ago

The game has the name "Morales" in it and MAGAs are unhappy about it. That's how the disagrees came to be. Let it begin.....

TheSaint1443d ago

Salt is a powerful drug.

UltraNova1443d ago

JJb,

No, it has nothing to do with that, the disagrees are for the commenter.

ClayRules20121443d ago

Looked AMAZING! The visual fidelity on display. DAMN. Pardon my language lol.

V3geta1443d ago

is this a full sequel or a smaller side game set between ?

OMGitzThatGuy1443d ago

Probably a Last Light situation.

rdgneoz31443d ago (Edited 1443d ago )

The neon graphics style reminded me of Infamous First Light a bit. As for the game, most likely a sequel in same universe and such right after the first game ended, but Miles being the main character and Peter as a side character / support as he takes on Prowler, Omega Red, Mysterio, Venom and Green Goblin. Could have a twist with Prowler (his uncle) being like Doc Oc in the first game and Miles not finding out he's bad till the end.

Hakuoro1443d ago (Edited 1443d ago )

Why don't you wait unil Sony says more. Let's not forget Uncharted Lost Legady and Horizon Frozen Wilds were full games in their own right. And that's assuming this isn't Spider-Man 2.

monkey6021443d ago

I'm getting a smaller title vibe myself

V3geta1443d ago

Same here, I just hope it's not too small. I definitely think it's the right move to establish Miles in a smaller title first instead of wasting part of the full sequel doing so. This way, we can jump right into things with Spider-man 2. Anyway, the Ps5 and this game are day 1 for me.

extermin8or1443d ago

thinking its a uncharted lost legacy situation

The problem with God of War Ragnarok and Sony first-party PS5 games

Playing the best PS5 games is starting to feel like a bad case of deja vu

Open world, narrative driven and third person, are not genres

sparky77548d ago

And yet they all play the same, just like Soulsbourne/Metroidvania aren't genres PS games all play exactly the same.

shinoff2183548d ago

Beats racing around a track and playing the newest broken halo. Sony games crush what Xbox has. Easily.

mkis007548d ago

But they dont? God of war plays nothing like days gone plays nothing like ratchet and clank plays nothing like horizon, plays nothing like ghost of tushima, plays nothing like returnal, plays nothing like spiderman. Seriously even if you were to try to compare ghost of tushima to god of war the combat is completely different.

jambola548d ago (Edited 548d ago )

You think God of war plays exactly the same as spiderman?....

Also, Metroidvania is a genre
Open worlds is not
Souldsbourne is a genre
Narrative driven is not

I love these games but bro, you can’t tell me they don’t all feel similar. I own on my ps5 and have played for the last year on ps5: uncharted 4 next gen update, forbidden west, miles morales, both god of wars and the re-release of TLOU and yes, they all feel very similar and all are fresh in my memory. They’re great games and I love them but they are in fact starting to feel formulaic.

darthv72548d ago

They feel formulaic because that was the intention. The PS4 gen was meant to be different than PS3. Which means all the big Sony owned games follow the same core design for big budget, over the shoulder, 3rd person, semi / open world, action / adventure story driven narrative. Each one just takes place in its own environment, feudal japan, post apocalyptic future, norse mythology... you get the idea?

isarai548d ago (Edited 548d ago )

Ill give you tlou and gow, but horizon and Spider-Man? They feel absolutely nothing like any other game, same for R&C and GoT. They all look and feel very distinctly different to me. You're stretching way too hard to try and make this false narrative a thing

shinoff2183548d ago (Edited 548d ago )

Yea I think yall crazy. Each of those games are nowhere near each other. If you want to compare all those games and say they are similar you must just be tired of gaming because almost all games have similar things about them. I think sonys games offer Hella variety

Also I enjoy third person. I'd prefer it over fps anyday

mkis007548d ago

How do any two games not feel formulaic? Im not sure what forbidden west and spiderman have in common.

jambola548d ago

No
In your opinion they're feeling formulaic
If you think God of war, ratchet and clank and spiderman feel tbe same
That's insane

What a sad excuse of a clickbait article.

PS_HCT548d ago

With God of War: Ragnarok being the fastest selling first-party game launch in PlayStation history selling 5.1 million copies, I don't think there is much of a problem.

Snookies12547d ago (Edited 547d ago )

I mean, I do agree with you to a certain extent. But sales really don't mean much when it comes to quality. Granted, GoW Ragnarok is definitely a quality title. Yet, on the other hand. We have the hot mess that Pokemon just released. And from what I hear, it's selling more than any previous Pokemon game. Which always bring in millions, every iteration.

Shane Kim548d ago

I don't really understand the whining. Yes they might play kind of similarly (I don't think so, but to each their own) but Sony's exclusives are like 1% of the gaming library. Would you rather they play just like every third party game out there?

Spider-Man: Miles Morales PC Review | Gaming Nexus

John writes, "With the release of Miles Morales, PC gamers will be able to enjoy both great Spider-Man games if they don't own a PlayStation 4 or 5. The game does need a solid machine, and if you have a NVIDIA Ada Lovelace card, you can unlock some great extra performance. It's a continuation of Marvel's Spider-Man with some new powers and some slightly different enemies, but it's solid and will give fans of the first game more of what was good to begin with."
