The PlayStation Brahs:
“Circle Entertainment and Developer Geronimo Interactive bring a new type of wave fighter to Virtual Reality? Let’s find out with Reborn: A Samurai Awakens for the PlayStation VR.”
This week Danthol and Ryan chat about Audica, Last Labrynth, Ping Pong Pro, Groundhog Day: Like Father, Like Son, Contagion, Dr. Who: Edge of Time, Reborn: A Samurai Awakens, Prey Typhon Hunter VR, and Golem!
"2019 is coming to an end so I figured now would be a good time to discuss another batch of intriguing PlayStation VR games." - A.J. Maciejewski from Video Chums
Pure PlayStation: Reborn: A Samurai Awakens is a bad game that misses every mark it was trying to hit. The enemies are boring and the combat is so bad, I couldn't wait for it to be over. It is to be avoided at all cost.
I feel like there were a few things he forgot to mention, like the gravity attack, the QTEs, lack of actual options like modifying difficulty, no actual replay value aside from finding collectables that only exist to give an actual reason to explore, the dialogue that actually looks like it was translated through Google translator, etc.
Also, does the game actually have 6 stages? Cause so far, from what I have seen, only 5 are available. And even after getting S ranks (which isn't hard to do), you get nothing aside from a few trophies. Really makes you wonder what actually happened during the development of the game, and will Geronimo continue to make games after this?
This has to be a really trash game. I've not seen any score of six and above. In truth I haven't seen a score above two. There seems to be no redeeming quality to this game, that would give someone a reason to play. Maybe the people that hunt trophies can collect a few, haven't checked the game out myself so I don't know if there's even a platinum.
On a positive note, Espire1 just downloaded and should unlock in a few hours.
Not heard of this before, but it looks really great
Sad to see such wasted potential. Hard to even hope for a patch since the game never had any concrete updates since early last year. I even asked Circle Entertainment about the issue and I am yet to recieve a respond. Why hope the best for a game that was clearly abandoned on a purpose?
Also, it may be just me but I find the amount of star wars references here a bit overwhelming, especially when you realize that the game rips off star wars not once but twice!
Yeah, I think the reviewer is a bit exaggerating with the wave fights. If you are trying to tell me fighting against wave of dumb Ais that can be easily dispatched by either interrupting their animations or instant killing them with your gravity attack, then I'm sorry but what VR action games have you even played lol. Even the bosses are either easy qtes or boring sword waggles. Just by looking at other people playing it on youtube gives off the same feeling when you play the game: bored and annoyed. Even for $15 there are far better games imo. Maybe if it was $10 or less it might be worth a try...for a while anyway.
Plus, since this is PSBrahs, I wouldn't be surprised if the game gets a sudden boost in sales because of this review.
Still, atleast it's a better review than VR Shop's poor excuse of a "review".
