Reedus: I Completely Forgot About P.T. When I Heard of Death Stranding, Thank God It Didn't Work Out

Norman Reedus frankly admitted he completely forgot about P.T. & Silent Hills when he heard of Death Stranding, as he reckons this was better.

Thing is, PT was a completely different creation than Death Stranging. One is a horror title and the other is an open-world with so many more elements. Maybe just one of them was more appealing to him than the other.

carcarias1637d ago

You're right, this is a bit of an apple and oranges comparison he's making here.

I love horror games and the P.T demo, so I'm definitely disappointed Kojima never made something of it all, regardless of how good DS may be.

Gaming1011637d ago

Kojima couldn't make anything of it because he doesn't own the Silent Hill IP. He also doesn't have the money to buy it, since Konami would probably overcharge it to him just to screw him a little more, the bastards.

UltraNova1637d ago

Reedus is talking through his experience as voice/motion capture actor though not as a dev or gamer. He's probably basing his opinion in the tremendous difference in the two games script (concept, complexity, length, physical demands for MOCAP).

That said I really wish we could get PT but I can definitely see his point of view.

Gaming1011636d ago

UltraNova all you have to do you is read the article. He explains that Silent Hills has an entire backstory where you already know everything that's going to happen, that there are monsters in a town and whatnot. There is no backstory to Death Stranding, which makes it much more mysterious and engaging to work on since everything is new. This is the advantage of new IPs.

DaDrunkenJester1637d ago

Silent Hills would have been much more appealing to me personally,

bloop1637d ago

Yeah, I think I would have rathered Silent Hills too. I'm still on the fence with DS, but Silent Hills would definitely have been day one.

P_Bomb1637d ago (Edited 1637d ago )

Me too. I’d buy that Silent Hills in a heartbeat. I’d pay to get PT back. Has to be one of the most defining games of this gen that technically never existed lol. Spawned copycats, homages, recreations, preloaded PT console sales. We’re still talking about it on the eve of next gen!

rainslacker1637d ago

Given the overwhelmingly positive reception of the PT demo, I think a lot of people would disagree with Reedus.

It's too bad we couldn't have both.

Muzikguy1636d ago

I know that I would have loved to see Silent Hills turn into something. I bet it would have been one of my favorite games too

Damn that's just sad to hear. Playing P.T. was a generation defining experience definitely missed out on that one

dekke1637d ago

i still have P.T on ps4pro :P

Sm00thNinja1636d ago

Same I'll never delete it off lol may be worth something some day

Felix_Argyle_Catbro1637d ago

I feel like Silent Hills would have been better. Possibly the greatest horror game of all time, if P.T. was anything to go by.

Veneno1637d ago (Edited 1637d ago )

Exactly. PT was already my favorite horror game of all time. A whole entire game of it? Bring it. Maybe after Death Stranding Kojima will make the spiritual successor.

Kurisu1637d ago

I honestly feel that P.T gets far more praise than it deserves. Yes it was a nice little tester of what could have been but let's be honest, if it was a random demo from a no-named franchise nobody would have bat an eyelid.

Concertoine1637d ago

^This. It's easy to daydream about what could've been, It's fair to say it would've been the most inspired SH since The Room, but thats not saying much. I think SH should've ended with The Room, or even 3.

fr0sty1637d ago

I was firmly believing that this was the best horror game I'd ever played long before I beat it and saw the Silent Hills reveal at the end, long before I knew it was part of that franchise.

Veneno1636d ago

You're way off on that one. I jumped on to PT months after it dropped and was in discussion. I didn't know anything about it before going in. I didn't even know who Norman Reedus was. The hyped was justified. And also Kojima was hiding the identity of it. It was called PT and done by Moby Dick studios. It purposely obscured itself.

Hey man it's cool to have your own opinion but get your facts straight.

Omar3li1637d ago

*laughs in Resident Evil*

-Foxtrot1637d ago

Yeah I'm sure...

Look I like Norman as an actor but he's so well known of hyping and over exaggerating his love for whatever project he's on, the big hype PR stuff he does for the Walking Dead every season is a prime example of that

Silent Hills, because of the P.T gameplay seemed like it was going to be amazing and whether or not they are true, the rumours of it being third person around the town and then first person within buildings sounded fantastic.

DaDrunkenJester1637d ago

Hell he even hypes his own TV show on AMC in Death Stranding. There is an in game ad trailer for his show that you can watch when you use the bathroom.

CrimsonWing691637d ago

Um, I think I get what Reedus meant but I actually want a world where Silent Hills and Death Stranding exist. I was so bummed when they canceled that game because P.T. Was incredible and all it was was barely anything yet so compelling.

Embracer CEO Lars Wingefors: "I deserve a lot of criticism."

Embracer CEO demonstrates a masterclass in mental gymnastics in latest interview.
"I'm sure I deserve a lot of criticism, but I don't think my team or companies deserve all the criticism. I could take a lot of that blame myself. But ultimately I need to believe in the mission," he said.

Turned based Phantasy Star and Shinning Force remain at the top of my list of Sega IPs that need to return. At the very least I'd take a Shining Force collection that has 1,2,3, CD and the Game Gear entries.

FinalBoss7d ago

I was hesitant to put these two on. I've personally played more PSO than the RPG version. And shame on me, I don't remember much about Shining Force to talk about it properly.

That said, so many Sega licences deserve their place in this list.

jznrpg5d ago

A new Phantasy Star in the numbered series would be amazing. Shining Force too. But I’d settle on some collections as that’s probably the best we will get

anast7d ago

I don't trust Sega to do a proper comeback. The games will be just remastered and/or monetized to death.

gold_drake6d ago

shining force.

but indont see that happening unfortunately.
