Well the Pro owners will get 1440p. That's the resolution I use on PC and X. At least pro owners will get something

darthv721653d ago

In the last piece I kept saying the Pro was still going to be the better version than the base model. It was like people thought Pro would be the exact same as the base model. That is a technical impossibility just like them thinking the Pro would have the same enhancements as the X (again a technical impossibility).

X will be the best console version followed by the Pro as the best PS4 version. It was pretty easy to understand.

Larrysweet1653d ago

Thats not always the case at all. Theres plenty ps4 games exact same resolution and everything as base ps4

UltraNova1653d ago (Edited 1653d ago )

Lets wait for DF's analysis and see if this is real Pro support and not just a a rez boost.

KillBill1653d ago

Do we know what the base model is going to be? We know the Pro upscales from 1440p to 4K but what is the base model resolution... we have not heard that yet as far as I know? Anyone got info?

boing11652d ago

@Larrysweet

Not entirely true because Pro has boost mode. So even if game doesn't support Pro directly, you are still getting benefits of faster hardware like more stable framerate. Very noticable in GTA 5 and BF4 for me.

SyntheticForm1652d ago

It's not technically impossible at all - why do you keep saying that? They could 'technically' put the game on Pro with zero enhancements. The only thing they may not be able to avoid is a more stable frame rate.

The Pro will have the same shadow quality, AO, AF, etc as the base model unless the developers specifically target these areas - you've got to stop saying it's impossible for the Pro not to be enhanced. Lol.

In any case, I'm glad it's getting something. Would be pretty lousy otherwise.

1652d ago
SyntheticForm1652d ago

@Boing

I believe boost mode only applies to some games released before the release of the Pro model CUH-7000. Boost mode won't just make any game perform better.

38GB update?? that is basically the whole game, right?? they tried to distance themselves from Bethesda, but apparently they are inheriting one of Bethesda's worst practices. it looks like devs and publishers are trying really really hard to make physical copy buyers feel bad about their purchase now with these ridiculous gigantic patches. why not just put the download codes in the box next time and be done with it, ha?

UltraNova1653d ago

Its a full on assault on physical these days. The sad part is some "gamers" support this war.

DarXyde1652d ago

That's more than basically a whole game. I remember long PS2 games being about 1/7 of that.

Edgelordsupreme1652d ago

It's the nature of the beast, it's not going to get any better.

@UltraNova

Rise up "gamers", only real "gamers" buy physical and the realest "gamers" buy games with little to no patching. Personally I buy all my physical games from the farmers market, I dont like all the pesticides EB Games and Walmart spray their games with, it really adds to all the patches. Am I right "gamers"? "Gamers" rise up 2019, no more patches we are under assault!

xander707691652d ago

It really is getting bad. The industry is slowly but surely killing off physical. Almost every release has a day one patch, and even then, more will inevitably come. Games seem to always release in a broken state and need patches to function properly.

Even more egregious, we are seeing more and more that re-releases, like game of the year editions that release a year or later, promising to include all content, will release with just the base vanilla game and all DLC and patches still needing to be downloaded. For no other reason than to make your physical purchase meaningless. The industry wants you to rely on digital downloads to play games.

Retro gaming in the future is going to be a bitch, and a digital-only future is going to be bad for gamers.

Guessing they had a last minute change of plan for PS4 Pro version.

Spurg1653d ago

Or its was just misinformation being spread around leading to needless finger-pointing

Atom6661653d ago

Yep. Read it was just a mistake in the PR person's email.

Shame so many people canceled those nonexistent preorders because of that misinformation...They were able to dust off their pitchforks though, so not a total loss.

BadElf1653d ago

Why did you say "or"?

Christopher1653d ago

Just misinformation. Definitely affects the credibility of Windows Central and their people inside.

MasterCornholio1653d ago (Edited 1653d ago )

So is N4G going to ban that site anytime soon?

Assuming that they did this on purpose and it wasn't just an accident.

UltraNova1653d ago (Edited 1653d ago )

Then I'd like you Chris to put your money where your mouth is. I mean look at what happened in the comments of yesterday's WC's derailment of a post...

Forbes is equally bad.

Ausbo1653d ago (Edited 1653d ago )

It’s not window centrals fault. It was the PR for private division

They posted the email the PR team sent them. Plainly says that there are no pro enhancements

UltraNova1653d ago

Ausbo,

Show me where WC mentioned they've reached Obsidian or MS for comment on that PR email then... I did not see any due diligence on their part.

rainslacker1652d ago

If WC was the only one that posted the email, then did they follow up to make sure that that was the case. Information like that is usually more press release related than it would be from a random email to a single publisher. Enhancements for better consoles are typically part of the marketing process since the mid gens, so while i won't say WC did anything wrong in the sense they made it up, it's rather unprofessional to report on something based on single email, with no other information out there to use. either that, or it does put their credibility in question....as Christopher mentions.

WC is chock full of misappropriated information, often used to put MS on a pedestal, and make PS look bad. I don't think they do this because MS is paying them, just that they are a crap site, that cares more about clicks, then ethical behavior.

To all those making a call to action to Chris, I do agree with the desire to clean things up around here, but lately, I'm starting to feel that if we did that, there wouldn't be any news left, because all the community reacts to now seems to be opinion pieces, or major news stories....the latter of which are pretty few and far between.

tontontam01652d ago (Edited 1652d ago )

It's a good thing that they've realized that nobody will go buy an xbox one x just because it is not enhanced for ps4 pro.

A last minute change of plan out of fear that a good chunk of ps4 pro owners will skip the game.

NeoGamer2321652d ago

Ummmmm no.

Anyone thinks that all they have to do is "flip a switch" and all of a sudden they get higher resolution on the game does not understand game development.

It takes at least two years of dedicated development to get a AAA game engine working and running on the platforms it is developed for. To think that they can just flip a switch a week before the game releases is not true. The minimum would be 2-3 months to up the game's resolution because you have to do a ton of testing and tuning the game engine to ensure it maintains frame rate everywhere all the time. That would be an absolute minimum.

No excitement for this game paints a bleak picture. Hope I'm wrong. I just havent heard anything about this game and were a week from release

Poopmist1653d ago

I've heard a lot of hype for this game. Just not on this site.

on_line_forever1653d ago

Guys I have questions for you

If we have backwards compatibility feature on ps5 & PS6 on future and we can take our games from ps4 & ps5 with us why we can't get PS6 after 3 or 4 years so we can get new powerful hardware very soon ?

xX-oldboy-Xx1653d ago

on_line_forever - because game development takes about that long, consoles need to represent good value.

If you want to upgrade that often - just go the PC route. You'll always find something to spend your money on there.

Tapani1653d ago

@on_line_forever

Your question is actually really good. We already got PS4 Pro within that time-frame so what you probably won’t get is PS6, but PS5 Pro or a similar upgrade which will be compatible with PS4&PS5 games. Who knows they might even brand it as PS6 due to cloud gaming push from competitors, and possibly launching the PS5 Pro model with the base PS5. Things move faster nowadays!

Christopher1653d ago

They've had a ton of gameplay a few weeks ago. Tons of people talking about it. You gotta be hiding under a rock to not see it, IMHO. Or, just not following game news outside a certain circle of games.

pwnmaster30001653d ago (Edited 1653d ago )

Tbh This was one of my most anticipated games when it came out but now I might pick the new COD over this. The hype For me hind of died down when I saw the gameplay. Looked kind of dull and don’t get me wrong I love exploration and all that but something doesn’t hit me with this game. Hopefully I’m wrong because I love obsidian and their games.

Sm00thNinja1653d ago

Well maybe you're just a harder corer gamer than me who knows but the hype for this has been nonexistent especially this close to launch. I have watched some recent gameplay videos but wasnt impressed with some of the Fallout-like interactions with NPCs. I have the game preordered for Xbox One SO HOPEFULLY IM WRONG. Game could turn out to be phenomenal, but again... havent seen any in depth previews from IGN or Gamespot that were glowing or foretelling of an instant classic

Christopher1653d ago (Edited 1653d ago )

***havent seen any in depth previews from IGN or Gamespot that were glowing or foretelling of an instant classic***

Well, let me help you out as far as videos. But, "glowing or foretelling" seem to be reserved for very few games. Doesn't mean the rest that don't get it are bad or not worth playing.

Thanks actually. This place hasn't been hyping this game I'll assume for obvious reasons I'll definitely watch all of these I know very little other than creators of Fallout New Vegas... but then again that was enough for me

Christopher1653d ago

@Sm00th: Probably the only thing missing from this is Chris Avellone. But I'm excited to see what they do with their own IP regardless of the similarities to other RPGs they've worked on.

There was excitement for this game. I remember the trailer dropping shortly after Fallout 76's disaster of a launch and people were excited for a Fallout style single player FPS.

Might be why Bethesda is releasing that remaster collection on the same day perhaps.

nucky641653d ago

i watched the game informer gameplay from a couple weeks ago - i wasn't impressed at all.

BenRC011653d ago

Looks like a fallout clone. Long past staring at badly animated faces and have long boring conversations. On gamepass isn't it?

yoshatabi1652d ago

Have you been living under a rock? Game has been everywhere

Sm00thNinja1652d ago

Absolutely it has not. I mean gameplay videos but no impressions from big sites. I'd love a link saying the game will be amazing? I just havent seen anything overly positive

1440p on the PS4 Pro and 4k resolution and 4k textures on the OneX plus included with gamepass.

Well my decision on the version to play is easy.

KwietStorm_BLM1653d ago

I'm sure your "decision" was made a long time ago.

Christopher1653d ago (Edited 1653d ago )

Not going to lie, so was mine. Got the $1 upgrade of my XBL to Game Pass Ultimate. I don't know how long I'll use Game Pass, but right now? It's a no-brainer. The Outer Worlds is my game to play until Cyberpunk 2077 as things stand right now. Otherwise I'm working on backlog stuff and revisiting some PS3 titles.

1653d ago
Neonridr1652d ago

and? Doesn't mean his decision isn't further reinforced with this news.

Kingthrash3601653d ago

If you have gamepass your decision was made for you.

Kribwalker1653d ago

it really was. You can’t turn down something included in the sub. and if you like it you could buy it 20% off on top of that

1653d ago
NarutoFox1652d ago

What if you have gamepass on PC 🤔

TKCMuzzer1653d ago

Well, considering you probably only have Xbox X I think it was.
@Christoper
He bleeds green my friend, Microsoft could burn down his house and he would still send them a Christmas card.

jairusmonillas1653d ago

Clearly the no ps4 pro support fake news was intentional, They can't build a hype for this low budget mediocre game and this game will be buried by Call of Duty Modern Warfare anyways. lol

CaptainCook1653d ago (Edited 1653d ago )

Did you play The Outer World? You just said you've played it.

xX-oldboy-Xx1653d ago

jairusmonillas - it truely does look trash.

Edgelordsupreme1652d ago

What does enhancement on the Pro have to do with hype? What does the sales of Modern Warfare have to do with the quality of either of them? Of course CoD will sell more, it doesn't mean The Outer Worlds will be bad.

KwietStorm_BLM1652d ago

Yes, clearly the creators of Fallout, KOTOR, and some other great RPGs over a number of years, used your sensibilities for PS4 Pro to manufacture hype for this crappy game. It makes so much sense now.

Finally, Resistance: Retribution 🔥

It's an alright month overall. I think Sony should try to more consistently get some high quality indies Day 1 in the service, e.g. Ultros would have been good. Those have usually been some of the better months, e.g. Stray, Sea Of Stars, Tchia.

Shame that for this version of Outer Worlds, you can't import your save. 😔 Truly Spacer's Choice

darthv7271d ago

retribution was a cool game. It's the only one that allowed you to link a DS3 controller using Resistance 2 to play it (as far as i know). It was an interesting experiment that didnt offer 2nd analog support though but Im betting this version does.

Eonjay71d ago

Good point. One assumes that is the reason for the delay on releasing it.

ChasterMies71d ago

Joke’s on Outer Worlds Spacers Choice. I quit after the first planet in Outer Worlds.

MaximusPrime_71d ago

Glad I didn't buy NFS rebound. I expected this to be on PS Plus.

71d ago
ravens5270d ago

Unbound lol. N I got it for 15 physical, 🤷🏽. I'll take it. Jus got extra this year for $80, which is a great deal. If I can pay $80 on sale every year I'd stick with Extra. I don't mind buying a game but then it shows up here cause then I can download it to have it digitally but still have MY copy. Once they take it off I can still play it.

Eonjay71d ago (Edited 71d ago )

You can say what you want about day one purchases but besides that Plus really blows GamePass out of the water.

NFS, Outer Worlds and 4 different Tales of Games... and Retribution. And you throw the monthly games on top of that... its no competition.

BTW... how is it that no one realized that Microsoft could just put its games on Plus. No one seems to realize that Microsoft and Sony are now working to enrich each other. (Console ware is over)

darthv7271d ago

Sadly, Retribution is only for premium users... not us extra folk. I do have the original UMD, but it would be nice to get it digitally like i did with killzone liberation and stardust. Both of which i already owned digitally on my Go/Vita and it was cool when those were made available for the PS5 as then i could dl them.

Eonjay71d ago

This is one UMD I never had but thats really awesome you still have an original.

ChasterMies71d ago

How can Game Pass be the best deal on gaming when it is more expensive than PS+?

badboyz0971d ago

Plus you need a platform to.

Petebloodyonion71d ago

Gamepass PC is way cheaper to PS+ and even way cheaper if you use MS rewards points

Redgrave71d ago

Is that Jet Moto 2, under Resistance? As of writing, it's just an image and no text.

Redgrave71d ago

It's been fixed, and yes it is

Toecutter0071d ago (Edited 71d ago )

Why is the Killzone series still M.I.A? I still love playing splitscreen co-op of KZ3.

MrBaskerville70d ago

They did release the psp top down shooter a while back. So it's not completely forgotten.

I'd rather pay for a game on Steam than have it free on Epic Games Store.

JEECE121d ago

Tell me you love Fortnite without telling me you love Fortnite.

Jingsing121d ago (Edited 121d ago )

Some people just want capitalist communism and for Steam to have no competition. All of a sudden investing over a decade into 1 digital store front or having all your eggs in one basket looks under threat as the competition heats up. Now they are starting to see the potential pitfalls of what if Steam were to lose in the long run. The best solution was always the one we had right now. Library in your home and go to physical or online stores so no one has complete control of your loyalty or media. (Physical Media).

JEECE121d ago

Nah, I dislike having tons of janky clutter on my computer. I'd certainly be willing to pay for a game I really wanted rather than get it for free if getting it for free means embracing janky clutter. It's like getting something "free with ads." The ads are their own type of price.

mkis007121d ago

But EGS isn't even janky.

ocelot07121d ago

I'll just claim it and then never see the egs until I need it next. Same as I do with steam. Why use multiple when GOG Galaxy is a thing?

franwex121d ago

For some people it's Steam or nothing. I too use GOG Galaxy. It even has my xbox stuff.

darksky121d ago

There is nothing wrong with EGS. I have GOG Galaxy, Steam and EGS running and the pc is not struggling or crashing. I have more games on EGS than Steam due to all the freebies. It's good to have options other than Steam.
