Of course Wolfenstein Youngblood is political, MachineGames' Jerk Gustafsson says

Steve Wright, Stevivor -- "In a day and age where video games publishers insist their games aren't political, it's refreshing to have one really lean into it. This is the case with MachineGames and the upcoming Wolfenstein Youngblood."

Video game are art and as such can be expressed in any number of way and as art already does; it can be a representative of a political zeitgeist, past or present. A lot of times you will get the interpretation of ones views as with any topic undertaken by an individual or a team of creators.

People conflate this to mean that if someone is sharing their perspective that it means that there is some huge deep state orchestra trying to get you to think a certain way. No, this is for the weak minded. You have to have the awareness of yourself to encounter ideas that aren't yours without losing who you are or losing your cool.

That way you can enjoy the art for what it is instead of getting trapped inside of your own head and becoming submissive to the suggestions of how others want you to understand what you see.

I think this is a basic life skill.

Loved the Carpenter Brut (turbokiller) in the trailer but the minute the girls started talking...uugggh. Their dialog and attitude was tryhard cringe. BJ was written with such depth and pathos in the first one and then the second game just fell apart with characters that crapped all over him with their anachronistic, woke garbage. I wish Youngbloods had returned to the first games’ style and meaningful writing where character & plot mattered more than politics.

the only people whining about politics in games is because it doesn't align with THEIR politics. We get it, you're racist & your daddy was in the kkk. Now shut the fuck up forever.

So far, it doesn't look like it.

I dunno. Might actually be better than Forza Motorsport 2023 was at launch.

dumahim21h ago

@DivineHand125

Yes. All of the ones on Xbox since the beginning. I even have the original Best Buy demo copy and FM2 limited edition that they didn't even sell in the US.

BeHunted13h ago

Did you actually read the article? They're talking about open world games like Forza Horizon, The Crew, etc. Not circuit racers; otherwise, they'd mention Gran Turismo.

MrBaskerville7h ago

Unpopular opinion it seems. But yeah, Forza Motorsport was the worst game in the series since Forza Motorsport 5. Huge letdown. Did they ever rework it? absolutely hated the campaign progression and the rpg systems relating to upgrading cars. Ended up just going back to 6 and 7 instead, those two also had a LOT more stages.

Only a competitor if your game works fully offline and isn't some service.

DigitallyAfflicted1d 3h ago

it sounds like this game is stuck in last generation.

Skuletor1d 3h ago

Personally, I wouldn't want my game compared with The Crew at all, I certainly wouldn't be the one making the comparison either.

ElaBosak15h ago(Edited 15h ago)

How so? It's a very successful and popular racing franchise. Any game entering the genre is competing with racing games including The Crew.

Skuletor15h ago

It wasn't very long ago Ubisoft shutdown the original The Crew's servers, making every copy unplayable. I wouldn't want to be associated with that controversy.
