Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice mod adds an "Easy" mode by slowing down the player and game speed

DSOGaming writes: "Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is the latest game from the team behind the Dark Souls series, FromSoftware, and is easily one of the most difficult games to date. And while a lot of gamers are frustrated by its challenging difficulty, PC gamers can use a mod that will enable an unofficial “Easy” mode."

Wow i can't believe people are going that lengths just to get easy mode. The accomplishment of killing a boss is so satisfying. Easy mode will take that away and give you the title of noooob

Hungryalpaca1849d ago

I know. I was having the big troubs with 3 bosses. Kept dying over and over and was getting infuriated. I knew it was my own fault the entire time.

What was hilarious was I was listening to a podcast while playing. The podcast was discussing the easy mode issue and as they were explaining why it shouldn’t have one, I pulled through and beat all 3 bosses in a row.

thatguyhayat1849d ago

Exactly. I wont spoil it but on of the bosses gave me a migraine and i gave up for the day. Next day when i killed that little sh*t it was a relief as if i found the meaning to life lol

syphon321849d ago

And you've grown more as gamer for it

nix1849d ago (Edited 1849d ago )

For some, they love the satisfaction of finishing the tough game which is understandable. Where people like me come from is someone who loves gaming and good SP games with good stories. Even though I've completed games like Demon's Souls and Bloodborne, I don't have time to play games like that anymore. Those are the times I wished there was an Easy mode because these games look so interesting and even I want to explore the world.

That's the only reason I request for an Easy mode.

Kabaneri1849d ago (Edited 1849d ago )

Nobody cares about being called a noob especially in a game with no multiplayer. Companies do care about money though and From Soft is missing out on a ton by continuing to cater to elitist dorks on the internet. They took out everything that was fun about the souls series and turned up the frustration ×10. Bloodborne is one my all time favorites this game is straight up masochism for the sake of masochism.

thatguyhayat1849d ago

No this is how they make their games its their thing. If you cant complete it, you didn't git gud enough

Kabaneri1849d ago (Edited 1849d ago )

@thatguyhayat
I have no desire to git gud at a game that I dont enjoy. Im gonna play Devil May Cry and The Division 2 instead.

Hungryalpaca1849d ago

It’s actually easier than Bloodborne. What’s wrong with you?

And lol look you listed 2 easy games.

AspiringProGenji1849d ago (Edited 1849d ago )

It is not about the money. Stop! FromSoft iis doing wel themselves. They don’t need to cater to everyone and abandon their vision because of money.

syphon321849d ago

Dude did your nuts drop yet...sheesh

EastOfTheAnduin1849d ago

"I have no desire to git gud at a game that I dont enjoy. Im gonna play Devil May Cry and The Division 2 instead."

There you go! I don't enjoy games like Just Dance or 95% of the indie garbage that comes out. I don't complain about them or beg the developers to change them into what I want them to be. I just DON'T PLAY them and play other games I enjoy instead.

DarXyde1849d ago (Edited 1849d ago )

Thanks for your concern, but FromSoft has a certain vision for their games and comprising is not unlike censorship.

If you can't stand the difficulty, don't play it. Just because it's a highly rated game does not mean you need to play it. It's simply not for your demographic. Your complaint is like me saying, "Activision needs to change Call of Duty because Japanese gamers frequently experience symptoms of physical illness from first person shooters and they're leaving money on the table."

If you have to complain and make it manageable for you, it's not for you-- you're trying to MAKE it for you.

Square peg and round hole.

rainslacker1849d ago (Edited 1849d ago )

@Genji

"They don’t need to cater to everyone and abandon their vision because of money."

Unless they can't get published, and any publication deal comes with them wanting them to make their games more accessible. From Software will have to either stand by its principals, or go out of business, unless they pull a Ninja Theory, which is possible, but risky.

Just because they have some freedom now, doesn't mean that that freedom will last, and we all know that publishers are pretty greedy.

Not saying it will happen, but it's not unheard of.

sampsonon1849d ago (Edited 1849d ago )

the whole point is it is a single player offline game. so why these people care if someone in their home plays it on a easier mode is beyond me.
it's like they have nothing else in life to be proud of and this is all they have.
sooner or later From Software will have a meeting and talk about how an easier mode will net them another 50 million in return.

then i can't wait to hear the kids crying boooo! hoooo!

Axel-Foley1849d ago

I can agree with you to an extent but if this helps people to learn how to play it, I'm all for it. I think if From Soft were to lock out achievements for an easier mode, it would make everyone happy. Us hardcore folks get the full satisfaction of beating their rage inducing fights with achievements and newcomers can play through without earning any. Win win!

ThinkThink1849d ago

I would be cool with that, I don't care about achievements. Just like playing fun games. Can i ask the hard core how they would feel about that? No achievements for the sake of an easy mode?

rainslacker1849d ago

So, it's the achievements and trophies that people care about. They don't want to share trophies with others who just want to experience other aspects of games that are generally well liked.

I mean, it's not like there is no way to have something like, "Completed game in Hard mode".

Locking out all the trophies is kind of dumb, because not all the trophies are tied to the difficulty of the game itself.

Cobra9511849d ago

Something along those lines. I'd even be willing to concede other more more tangible rewards, like say a boss-rush mode unlocked only by beating the original hard mode.

sampsonon1849d ago

there are people that easier mode is still hard. but at least they can finish the game.
something you might find easy is hard for other people.

Cobra9511849d ago

How would that take anything away from people who can't do it at the current difficulty, or don't even want to try? Their game experience goes from none to something with an easier mode (modded in or official). More people playing the game, more satisfaction, more buyers, more exposure and money for From Software. I'm still trying to find a loser in this scenario, other than elitists who think these games are just for them.

Futureshark1849d ago (Edited 1849d ago )

Ahhh, so it's the PC gamers who need the easy mode....
(takes cover)

tontontam01849d ago (Edited 1849d ago )

0.00000011111 input/output lag 1ms monitor or whatever lag pc gamers can think of using their super top of the end high end pcs locked 60fps no framedrops and they still cannot get the timing right.

quent1849d ago

You're insecurity is off the charts lol, I guess you can pretend that loot boxes are like payable mods instead, freedom of option are always nice aren't they ?, .. wait what am I doing conversing with a peasant

Cobra9511849d ago

quent, I'm a PC gamer, and I just downvoted you, man. That comment was cringe-inducing.

tontontam01849d ago (Edited 1849d ago )

@quent
WTF insecured pc gamer spotted.
I did not intend to ridicule PC GAMING in my comment. It was aimed at those who are whining for an easy mode.

To be clear I bought the game on steam, I'm playing the game on my PC and playing it @ 4k60 max settings on my TV with an estimated 5ms latency and I'm waiting for a 144fps mod to play it on my gaming monitor.

my point is freedom of option aren't always nice. making an easy mode is a waste of time in this case it is more of an insult to the programmers of the game.

Before Miyazaki Retires, We Need To Get A Sekiro Sequel

A sequel to the studio's acclaimed title, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, would be the perfect swan song for long-time video game director Hidetaka Miyazaki.

H915d ago

Man you didn't have to do me like that with the title

LoveSpuds15d ago

I just don't see it happening given the success of Elden Ring. I think we'll be seeing a sequel to Elden Ring before anything else.

Demetrius15d ago (Edited 15d ago )

I'm not into souls games but it's good to see that this dev studio stick to what makes their titles unique, there's alot of souls copy n pasted games but they rarely get talked about cause they're looked at as copies and not original created ideas, the souls games are unique cause they offer they're own identity instead imitating I respect that

jznrpg15d ago (Edited 15d ago )

Or Bloodborne 2 preferably both but that’s a lot to ask if he plans on retiring sooner than later

Leeroyw15d ago

Bloodborne 2 or I'd simply love a 60fps remaster. I'd also love a bloodborne randomiser option.

toxic-inferno15d ago

I'm definitely holding out hope for a Bloodborne 60fps remaster still. Some extra features thrown in would be nice too.

With regards to a sequel, I'd actually rather From Software make another new IP with a different setting. That is what made Bloodborne so good - the fact that it took a proven formula and applied it to a completely new setting.

anast15d ago

The hype would be insane if they announced Bloodborne 2.

Inverno15d ago

What if they made a Sekiro/Bloodborne mix?

I regret i never played it, like many other great games!! Still on my radar, when i become retro gamer in a year or two with all this gaas crap happening around

Psychonaut8519d ago

Absolutely. Amazing art design, and didn’t have the Bloodborne problem so it runs at 60FPS on newer hardware, which is amazing given the reaction based gameplay

Cacabunga18d ago

Wait did it get a next gen patch??

Sciurus_vulgaris18d ago

This one title that never clicked with me. I enjoyed Dark Souls, Demon Souls and Bloodborne, but I never warmed up to Sekiro’s parry-focused combat. I honestly gave up on the game at about the half way point.

Armyofdarkness18d ago

Me too. But after the Stellar Blade demo and parrying like crazy I’m tempted to go back and play this again

Inverno18d ago

Took me a couple years too get into when I first bought it. I had gotten so used to Bloodborne that the gameplay was genuinely confusing me. Picked it up a third time and clicked. The game is souls stripped of all its RPG elements and left with nothing but it's combat. It's Souls at its pureness but I can see why the combat would turn people off. That's why I liked it so much tho, without the choice of weapons it's very focused on a specific style. I think a sequel with a small selection of weapons but each fleshed out would be the right step.

Sciurus_vulgaris18d ago

My problem with Sekiro was the combat, I didn’t find it as engaging as Bloodborne, DarkSouls due to the lack of RPG elements. I even found action games like Ninja Gaiden 1-2 and Ghost of Tsushima more engaging as well.

The 7 Best Souls-Like Games - Mastering the Challenge

The Souls-like genre remains popular, along with FromSoftware's classics there are many contenders. But which are the best Souls-like games?

toxic-inferno27d ago

Hmm... In my opinion, the 7 best are the 6 made by FromSoftware (DeS, DS1, DS2, DS3, BB and ER), then Lies of P. But each to their own.

kevco3326d ago

Still DS1? You don't feel it's been surpassed yet?

Demon's Souls has the remake of course, but DS1 has surely been outdated?

Smellsforfree26d ago

I think that the DS1 remake is better looking than DS2. The interior lighting matched with the low resolution textures in DS2 is very garish, IMO.

Besides graphics, what do you mean by DS1 being "outdated"? I'm someone who played through Elden Ring and just recently played through the DS series, and as far as gameplay went, there were all very similar.

Cacabunga26d ago

I haven’t played many but Bloodborne and NIOH1 are on top of my list.. had a blast with these 2

toxic-inferno26d ago

For world design and interconnectedness (that's a word, right?) DS1 is yet to be beaten.
