Mexico builds a wall along the US border in The Division 2

Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment continue to say that The Division 2 is not political in nature, but their PR crew know an open goal when they see one as it issues a spoof Mexican Government communique announcing a US border wall.

Anthropophagic2287d ago

Don't fret, the game is very real, comes out on 15/03/2019!

AnthonyDavis2287d ago

I’m for the wall. Give me a like if you are for the wall. Disagree if you aren’t.

I'm from Australia and I think it's friggin' crazy that there is even a debate about controlling your borders and stopping people from coming in illegally. It's common sense and it's the right thing to do for the citizens of your country. Come in the right way.

I won't be playing the Division 2, but I do hope the game does well with the gameplay and content. Companies need to learn from Destiny and Anthem. Stop drip feeding content and just launch a complete and fulfilling game, and people will stick around.

Sophisticated_Chap2287d ago

I'm from Canada, and I support the wall....not least because some of those buggers actually come up and sneak across our border with the U.S..

No Way2287d ago

@Salmonade - It's crazy that people think, in this day and age, with planes, boats and tunnels.. that a wall is even going to work! It'll be a useless waste of billions of dollars. And you think a wall is going to make people try for it legally?

Yanno, murder is illegal, too.

AnthonyDavis2287d ago

^
Ehhhhh the people who are for the wall actually have data to backup the possibility of how a wall is gonna help us. While the people against the wall use emotional anectodal evidence.

Sono4212286d ago

The crazy thing is, the amount of people in office advocating for open borders is getting higher, and whats even crazier is they are getting support. The main cause of this is propaganda from Mainstream media, I know it gets old beating the dead horse but that is really what it comes down to, as well as college campuses repeating the same things to easily influenced students. Colleges and the media are getting away with so much in america. They don't actually serve their function, in college you are supposed to teach kids how to think ie critical thinking, not what to think. The media is supposed to report the news, instead they cherry pick stories to push an agenda and spin the narrative to fit it. This isn't some whacked out conspiracy theory either, it literally happens every day. Most countries outside the US completely understand that open borders is idiotic, but that's because they aren't subject to the propaganda all these kids are being fed, which they have been being fed for a while because a lot of them are now adults, it's honestly crazy. Not to mention the amount of times the media has called trump racist without being able to state a single thing he has said is racist, or the amount of times they have said he's colluded with russia despite there being literally zero evidence of this, it is literally an agenda pushing cesspool, and that's all it is, i'm just glad some people are waking up to it, including myself (I was going to vote for Hillay)

rdgneoz32286d ago (Edited 2286d ago )

Actually, it's the people without any knowledge or data that back the wall, and people with knowledge and data that are against it. Mainly the people that thought another country would pay for a wall on our land...

Literal court accepted wall expert:
https://www.facebook.com/st...

former assistant at the Department of Homeland Security and Harvard professor,
https://guacamoley.com/they...

Spending $25+ billion (and taking people's land, cause Texans love eminent domain) on a wall that is easy to get around with technology today (or a damn ladder or shovels that were made decades ago) is a waste of money and will take years. It's not something that can be built in under a year or two. All it will do is line someone's pocket. Spend money on technology, people (more jobs yay?), and dogs to enforce the borders.

As for the game, hilarious marketing. Canada should build a wall too :P

babadivad2286d ago

@AnthonyDavis

I can't believe how many political idiots there are on this site.

Though in retrospect, I shouldn't be surprised that a site filled with unyielding hardcore fanboys would have such black and white views in politics as well.

PoSTedUP2286d ago

Isreal has a wall. In 2002 they had over 450 citizens murdered by suicide bombers. After there wall was complete, they only had 15 citizens murdered in 2009 by suicide bombers. Thats a really big difference. Walls work and there is no question that if the anerican people want one, they can get one. So spending 45 billion dollars a YEAR in an endless war over oil is ok, but 5 billion dollar wall bad. Good thing we are pulling out of syria, too.

AnthonyDavis2286d ago (Edited 2286d ago )

I use to be democratic and liberal as well. I don’t think I changed either. Because the democrats were about gay marriage and pro choice. Now the democrats have gone too far with immigration, BLM, financial assistance, gun control(which I don’t really care about), women’s rights, and just complaining about every small ass detail. It’s like everything is offensive to a democrat. I can’t associate myself with that anymore.

As close as Mexico will ever come to paying for a wall. As close as the wall will ever come to actually being built.

combolock2287d ago

Hate to break it to you, but it's already being built...

2287d ago
LucasRuinedChildhood2287d ago

Trump was previously offered $25b to build the wall by the Democrats and then he shut down the government for weeks (screwing over government workers) to get $5b to no avail. What an absolute moron.

RomanPSX2287d ago

yep. The wall is all Trmp BS to satisfied his stupid followers. Just increase border patrol, and create more employment at the same time.

Psychotica2287d ago

yeah increase border patrols to cover 1500 miles or so. How many agents would that require? How many people in the US have to be murdered by illegal immigrants before it becomes a national emergency?

2pacalypsenow2287d ago

@RomanPSX
"yep. The wall is all Trmp BS to satisfied his stupid followers."

Oh you mean a politician who actually was to follow through on one of his campaign promises.

Shame on him, we need more politicians who make empty promises to get elected.

PoSTedUP2287d ago (Edited 2287d ago )

you cant just have millions and millions of people storm in illegally every year, forever... lol. economically is does not work. thats why countrys in europe are now fighting against it. as well as mexicos new president. the wall is about votes, drugs, economy and human trafficking. make them all legal for all i care. just stop at least some of the drugs and human trafficking. the shitty wall we have now is breached on a daily basis and costs a lot of money to fix. you would have to pay too many people to secure the border, forever? making a better wall would be cheaper and more effective. border security is a good thing it cant just be a free for all. its being built as we speak in the most liberal state, california. go figure. is just the environmental laws that can stop the wall, we can build around it and we are.

2pacalypsenow2287d ago (Edited 2287d ago )

@tekiz

That's another good example.

2287d ago
kayoss2287d ago

@Psychotica And you think building a 1500 mile wall seems logical? Who will patrol the wall, who will maintain the wall, who will pay for the wall? You think 5 billion dollars that trump is asking is enough to build a 1500 mile wall?

PoSTedUP2287d ago (Edited 2287d ago )

@tek. its high enough with prevention to jump over on top, goes into the ground, and cannot be cut through like the fence we have. that just leaves going around it and overall makes it a helluva lot easier for our border security. next step, yes, is getting these guys a visa or green card because jobs are coming back. we would need workers. but that doesnt fix the broken system we have now where illegals can vote. i shouldnt be allowed to go to canada with a work visa and vote in their elections etc. and all the ballot harvesting that is going on (on both sides). all in all, if youre not a democratic socialist, or straight up socialist, this is what we have to work with. and i have to admit that he isnt wrong when talking about how much we spend on war each year compared to what he is asking for, thats why he is pulling out of syria. we have to stop supporting terrorists its no secret that we do and have in the past. its one big fucked up business.

Sophisticated_Chap2287d ago (Edited 2287d ago )

@ Tekiz

News flash: If the President vetos the bill, it doesn't become law. The House can pass as much crazy legislation as they want, but the President must sign the bill before it can become law. This is all just theatrics, nothing more. The House also just passed a bill to allow illegal immigrants to vote....talk about foreign influence in elections.

It will never become law, but if illegals were allowed to vote, then I suppose I could go down across the border from where I live in Canada, and vote in the U.S. elections, based on my own Canadian national interest....it completely defies logic. By the same token, Canadians would be outraged if Americans or Mexicans were to come up here as illegals to vote in our elections for their own interests. The Democrats hate the U.S.A., and they aren't even hiding it anymore.

What wall is there to build? There is already a wall, it's been there for decades it doesn't work. Whatever "wall" Trump has in mind is worse than what we already had. The last "prototype" they had could be cut with a regular off brand handsaw from the dollar store.

The majority of drug import came from planes, boats and trucks. This "wall" that trump wants is not going to stop planes or boats. Ask el chapo.

The majority of illegal immigrants don't even come from crossing the wall. That notion alone shows you how stupid Trump supporters are. The vast majority comes from overstaying their travel visas. Yes, they just hopped on a plane and decided to stay. Ask 21 savage.

He has got you all brainwashed to believe the wall is the most important thing ever. But in reality it's not.

Then who would tend Trump and Jr’s properties? Maybe raise fruit to $500 a bushel... eh, but why worry let’s build walls on top of tunnels!

FunAndGun2286d ago

"....and who's going to pay for it?!"

"MEXICO!!!!"....and the crowd waved their pom-poms with great force.

Funny how 1 campaign promise is demanded while 1 gets swept under the rug and forgotten. ....No, NAFTA 2.0 will not even cover maintenance for the wall. Y'all are willful suckers. worried about the poor while the 1% continue to wipe out the middle class. More worried about a wall over healthcare and education...things that every American would feel the effects of.

deno2286d ago

Yo slap chop! You do know illegal immigration cost us 3-4 times more then a wall would? Who do you think pays for all the illegals welfare, free education, hospital bills? American tax payers. Goodness you people are so dumbed down these days. You guy's come out of college dumber then before you came in.

They'll do anything to distract from the copy and paste formula that all ubisoft games have followed lately: throwaway story, repetitive missions in bland locations and bullet spongey enemies. Division and Wildlands were indistinguishable from each other.

Cmv382287d ago

Division and wildlands were very different. Don't be a hater all your life.

UnHoly_One2287d ago

That's not true, I loved Wildlands and hated the Division.

2287d ago
DaveZero2287d ago

You talk rubbish it's not a copy and paste it's a refinement of the first game with much added.

Dark_Knightmare22286d ago

I’m sorry origins and odyssey stories weren’t throwaway and they didn’t have bland locations. Far cry 5/new dawn locations aren’t bland and the stories were ok for what they were. You never played division and wildlands if you seriously think they weren’t distinguishable. Ubisoft hate is from like five years ago get with the times

starchild2286d ago

You know what's generic and repetitive? These stupid, completely false narratives some of you peddle. Just go play something you do like and quit wasting your time and everyone else's hating on stuff that doesn't appeal to you.

Blood & Truth his number one game. Nice pick. One of the best VR games ever made. Basically Uncharted in VR with British gangster skin.

Abnor_Mal1988d ago

Blood &Truth was the truth. Well written story of London underground shady characters. Lots of action that made the game play out like a summer blockbuster movie. The shooting was memorable with only one hiccup on the elevator trying to target while behind cover was a bit troubling. Will play though it again on the new hard mode and also try to use the Aim controller for the shooting gallery. Such a great game and can understand why it was picked as the authors game of the year.

The Division 2: Episode 1 D.C. Outskirts Review - Parallax Media

Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 had a strong start to the year, and while it wasn’t perfect, it still proved itself to be leagues better than the original game’s release back in 2016. Ubisoft has hopes to continue the upward trend with the latest release of free DLC, Episode 1 – D.C. Outskirts.

Do “Online-only” Games Need an “Offline” Mode

Should companies start planning for a game's shutdown ahead of time? Would offline spin-offs or patches that let people play something unplugged be wise for the future?

gangsta_red2149d ago

Then they wouldn't be "Online Only"

Kingthrash3602149d ago

Why just flat out no? I mean what would it hurt to have some kind of offline mode so you can still use the product you paid for if their server goes down or the internet goes down or you just want to play alone and relax?

Online only just means it has an expiration date.

JackBNimble2148d ago

What's the problem with offline mode ?
I don't see why this can't be an option.

-Foxtrot2149d ago (Edited 2149d ago )

By that meaning a game like Monster Hunter World or The Division which allow you to play by yourself but require you to be constantly online where you can't even pause the game?

Then yes...yes they do.

If you are playing by yourself, are in a private session with no other players and you aren't playing with friends or are in a party then there's no need to be constantly online.

ApocalypseShadow2149d ago (Edited 2149d ago )

I Didn't buy it but here's a perfect example: Starblood Arena
http://www.pushsquare.com/n...

Attempt to patch it for offline but failed
https://www.reddit.com/r/PS...
Goes offline tomorrow.

The developer should have had single player with optional multi player from day one. When you make a game online only, that cuts out a large group of buyers. When the servers go down or other online gamers move on to something new, you can no longer play. Also, single player games with online connection is also wrong. There's no need for DRM.

When you buy a game, you should be able to play it when you spent money on it. At least have Bots as an option.

I know the intent is to make an online game. Or, the developer doesn't have funds to do both. But when some developers who have less money can do both, it looks like a cash grab of micro transactions with no trade in value or something you can't lend to a friend.

I mostly play single player anyway. But I did buy Firewall Zero Hour used for $17.99 because it looks great and is awesome with the AIM controller after the free weekend demo. I refused to buy it new because of what it is. It's online only with barely no single player options except for training missions. And only **ONE** mode for online. ONE. No story, no hostage saving, no PvP free for all, no capture the flag, etc. And the developer seems fine with not adding any other modes but more micro transactions. Which is sad. So I only play the training missions which is like horde mode until the game goes offline. Then it's unplayable because it requires an online connection. Single player option with Bots not requiring online should be a must for any game you buy.

Zjet2148d ago

Yes.

Ghost Recon Breakpoint being online only is an absolute stupid decision.

Anthem could be rediscovered and preserved if it had offline single player support, but now it will most likely shutdown and die and be lost to history forever.

Etc etc

Media preservation is becoming more of an issue these days but the new age consumers are being told to treat services like goods and pay for them not to own but rent.
