Holy crap! I remember when I bough mine and that makes me feel so old!

FanboysKiller1880d ago

Me to, but I don't believe in time.

Neonridr1880d ago

I would be surprised if we ever see a home console selling that many units ever again.

Neonridr1880d ago

not 150 million units huge.

Retroman1880d ago

@ starman

Not 157 million huge

Starman691879d ago

May u one day eat your own words... Lol 😂

Shubhendu_Singh1879d ago

Yup. Not possible at all.
3 way battle with current hardware, Apple and Google going to enter the market, and generally less amount of mainstream games being published in a typical Gen cycle, because if increased dev time.

Not to mention VR hardware will get a mild push in next gen also cannibalizing traditional console sales.
157 million is ONLY possible if MS gives up hardware market, goes totally Gaming-Netflix and Sony/Nintendo remains the only traditional hardware options - which is NEVER GONNA HAPPEN.

XxSPIDEYxX1880d ago

PS2 was and still is incredible. I still play mine to this day.

DaReapa1880d ago

Same here. And I still have the OG phatty PS2 with benefits of the internal hdd compatibility. Sadly, the official hdd I got with FFXI just crapped out on me a couple weeks ago.

Retroman1880d ago (Edited 1880d ago )

I recently played Hotpursuit 2 on my ps2 . tested DVD player if it still works. Starwars last Jedi came in with flying colors.

Bigkdog811880d ago

I just recently played onimusha 2 on ps2. 🙂

darthv721880d ago

my younger son has been really into the spider-man games so i hooked him up with one of my spare slims and the ps1 and ps2 versions of the games. He has been enjoying life.

deno1880d ago

I still play mine also. In fact I just purchased virtual fighter 4, Genji dawn of the Samuari and Maximo ghosts to glory.

SegaGamer1880d ago

I still play mine through the PCSX2 emulator, it's bought new life to my PS2 games. I loved the PS2, I loved that era of gaming. If things could go back to the way they were back then, with the graphics we have in gaming now, I don't think you would see as much negativety from gamers.

I remember staring at that shiny blue box for quite some time before my brother sold it to his buddy who was willing to pay him $550 for it when it just launched. It was disheartening to watch as the exchange happened. But it's ok, I have one still nicely sealed in that blue box today.

darthv721880d ago

I may be the only person who skipped getting a PS2 until after getting the GC and Xbox. I actually obtained the xbox at an office xmas party in 01 and the GCN at the same party in 02 and then finally got the PS2 from the following years xmas party in 03.

I had a cool boss back then.

jagermaster6191880d ago

I'm glad you got disagrees for that comment.... I guess. N4g is so lame now!

Tapani1880d ago

I didn't like PS2 initially either, but when the niche RPGs that became full series hit it, I could not resist anymore.

My favourites here: Suikoden III, IV, V, Shadow Hearts I, II, III, FFX, FFXII, MGS2, MGS3, Xenosaga I, II, III, Dragon Quest VIII, Persona 3, 4, Shin Megami Tensei: Nocture, Digital Devil Saga 1-2, Radiata Stories, Star Ocean Till the End of Time, Valkyrie Profile 2... oohhh the list is way too long to remember.

I'm actually planning to buy one Japanese version and play all these games with my 4K tv. I want to play these through with my wife and enjoy the nostalgia, we are getting closer to 40s!

Remembering Medal Of Honor: The Forgotten Master Of WW2 Games

Ibrahim from eXputer: "The Medal of Honor franchise was once the crown jewel of FPS war games, later defeated by the tides of time and poor development."

banger886d ago

They tried to turn it into Call of Duty and it killed it off. They should reboot it and go back to it's roots. But they'd ruin it with online-only/multiplayer style bullshit so why bother? I have very fond memories of these games, but this series can stay dead as far as I'm concerned.

FPS_D3TH4d ago

Was literally just thinking of this game the other week with the secret nut cracker mission and the shooting Bismarck dog lmao. Loved these games as a kid

PrecursorOrb4d ago (Edited 4d ago )

I wish they’d remake warfighter

Strictly for the campaign

The_Hooligan4d ago

I have fond memories of playing the Medal of Honor Breakthrough MP Demo. It had two maps and custom servers. Living on campus, I had it downloaded on one of the PC Lab servers so I could access it on any computer at the university. Joined a clan and made friends that I still keep in touch with today.

8 Years Later, It's About Time Sony Revives The Rest Of Ratchet And Clank

Hanzala from eXputer: "On this joyous 8th anniversary of the Ratchet and Clank reboot, it's about time Sony considers reviving the originals to complete the saga."

shinoff21837d ago (Edited 7d ago )

It's not the ideal situation but Sony does offer them on ps plus. I to would just like a big ass compilation on doscto though

purple1017d ago

Insomniac roadmap leaked a while ago and they are making another, they’re doing the best they can and these games, especially the last two, are master pieces

Ranking the Devil May Cry Series

VGChartz's Mark Nielsen: "Upon finally finishing Devil May Cry 5 recently - after it spent several years on my “I’ll play that soon” list - I considered giving it a fittingly-named Late Look article. However, considering that this was indeed the final piece I was missing in the DMC puzzle, I decided to instead take this opportunity to take a look back at the entirety of this genre-defining series and rank the entries. What also made this a particularly tempting notion was that while most high-profile series have developed fairly evenly over time, with a few bumps on the road, the history of Devil May Cry has, at least in my eyes, been an absolute roller coaster, with everything from total disasters to action game gold."

First to last for me...3,4,5,1,2.

VersusDMC7d ago

Me leaving it out should be telling of my thoughts on it. Better than 2 as a DMC game.

Still a good game though.

Exvalos6d ago

What a weird name, it's essentially devil may cry, devil may cry lol

Cacabunga6d ago

Best to good for me: 3, reboot, 1, 5

2 and 4 are trash, didnt like any of them.
5 has very good gameplay variety but i hated the foes.. it is just insects the whole time. Reboot has the best foes for me

Friendlygamer7d ago

3,1,4,5 to me, never played 2. 5 gameplay is amazing but level design was really disappointing to me, just a bunch of plain arenas, the story felt like a worse written rehash of the 3rd and the charater models looked weird ( specially the ladies ). Another problem with 5 was that there was not enough content for 3 charaters so I could never really familiarize with any of them

monkey6027d ago (Edited 7d ago )

2.
Dmc.
4.
5.
1.
3.

God DMC2 was an awful game.
And in case this isn't obvious it goes worst to best

Yui_Suzumiya7d ago

1 and DmC. The rest are unimportant.

DarXyde7d ago

Order changes depending on your focus. I tend to focus on gameplay/fun factor, so...

5, 3, 1, 4, 2.

I really didn't like 4 but commend Dante's weapon diversity. The retreading of old ground was pretty unacceptable to me.

But even then... Still more enjoyable than 2 for me

SeTTriP7d ago

This right here is my order as I thought DMC 5 was amazing and obviously 3 comes after 4 was great and 1 for the nastilgic value it holds 2 was so terrible that my local GameStop gave full refunds to people who returned it.
