Well it already exist on ps4, so I don't see why wouldn't it be on ps5.

badz1491887d ago

right? PS Now has been available for years now

AnthonyDavis1887d ago

Only want cloud processing to assist a local game, not full game processed over a stream. The latter is bad for gamers cause it causes extra input lag.

rainslacker1887d ago

kind of thought the point of cloud gaming was that it wasn't restricted to the console, so not like the War Thunder dev is being overly insightful here. Or is this just the daily gaming bolt making inane observations by random devs article?

Everyone gets to enjoy the power of the cloud!

Eonjay1887d ago

The most ironic thing about this is that the PlayStation/PC community has had this for about 4 years. And the tech has existed longer than that. Thats why I can see this as a reason to go green next gen. My issues with Now was not the quality of the service but rather the it was too many games to actually enjoy. My backlog is already fierce. What were the chances of me playing all 700+ games on now? So to me, real life made the monthly investment useless in practice.

chiefJohn1171887d ago (Edited 1887d ago )

Right cause all 700+ is good and your type of game 😒

(That's like downplaying Netflix by saying what's the chances of me watching every single movie available as if you'd even be interested in every single movie to begin with and even so htf is that a negative? It's a requirement you play/watch them all like wtf?lol. "Ya the service was trash too much good stuff to play" 😂 every time I think I've heard it all. Better sell my console there's too many great games available it's become useless in practice roflmao)

LOGICWINS1887d ago

PS Now is a cool service, but it doesn't include 1st party titles when they launch. Game Pass does. Hopefully MS applies enough pressure on Sony so they can at least consider it.

Eonjay1887d ago

I mean't that is why I CAN'T see this as a reason to go green next gen. Because yes, the selection may be good but I even if I am only interested in 10% of the games on it, I would never get to them all and the cost of the service would equate to wasted money.

Dragonscale1887d ago

@logic, thats because Playstation games are too good to launch on PS Now unlike ms' current offerings having to release on gamepass because they're so mediocre lol.

ApocalypseShadow1887d ago (Edited 1887d ago )

Most illogical nonsense that I keep hearing. Spend millions of dollars only to allow gamers to play it for $10.

"Well, it's still being sold."

But why would you buy any game for $60 or whatever price when you can play it for cheap at launch? Amazing AAA or not, no one is that dumb to pay more at retail to play the game when they could pay less on a service.

Why spend money on marketing, why spend money in getting the best choice actors, why spend money developing game engines as a business. Why spend money on packaging and retail deals....

Some Xbox fans have gone beyond dedicated consoles and exclusives that matter that sell consoles. Microsoft has been so dominated this Gen, now it's "Sony better follow suit with Microsoft by putting their expensively made games on a service at launch or they're doomed and will be behind the times."

Such backwards thinking. "I hope Microsoft applies enough pressure."

What are you broke or something? Can you not afford Sony's amazing exclusives and want them to give them away like most Xbox Studio junk?

r2oB1887d ago

@logic

You should hope that more pressure is being applied to Microsoft to release better games. It doesn't matter if they release their first party titles at launch if a majority of them are bad to medicore games. Most gamers aren't looking at Sea of Thieves, State of Decay 2, and Crackdown 3 and saying "Let me maintain a monthly subscription to Gamepass so I can play these games". No. They are getting Gamepass at severely discounted prices and promos (sometimes for $1 for a month) and saying things like "well I have Gamepass already, might as well try these games". That's a big difference.

Of all the stuidos Microsoft recently acquired, I think only a few will be focusing on AAA high quality games while most will be told to crank out a bunch of mediorce (if that) titles to flood Gamepass with a bunch of "first party titles launching with Gamepass".

Right now I don't have any game streaming services, but if I had to choose one I would choose the platform with more quality titles available, right now that's PSNow. One day I'll probably get a game streaming service when my kids get a bit older and start gaming more. Maybe by then Microsoft will get their things together. Not holding my breath at all.

That's awesome. Not only are we getting something no one really asked for, we're going to get something no one seems to really want. I'm super excited I guess.

chiefJohn1171887d ago

"no one asked for" dumb thing to say. No one asked for a second analog stick but now we can't game without it. Using the no one asked for excuse to down play is a stupid thing to do cause half of the great things in gaming wasn't asked for.

RememberThe3571887d ago

What? Of course people wanted duel analog sticks! That's how the PlayStation got the duelshock in the first place.

rainslacker1887d ago (Edited 1887d ago )

@Chief

You guys were asking for cloud compute? Before MS announced it, I question if you ever heard of it. I doubt you could even use the technical term for what MS is doing when talking about it, because all they're doing is putting a pretty marketing term on the tech, and I never once saw it asked for. Hell, when MS announced it, almost no one claiming it was so great even knew we had been using the same technology for 2-3 decades already in any given MMO.

You guys want cloud compute? Cloud compute is great I guess, and it's really nothing new, but no one was asking for it, and as it is now, it hasn't been proven to be something people should really want, because I see more people seem to say that more power on the hardware would be more desirable. I mean, X1X is the best place to play games because it's the most powerful right? If this wasn't a console war driven thing, it's be a curiosity and probably get no attention beyond some PR release from the non gaming divisions which actually created the tech.

Oh, and I recall the first announcement of an analog stick on the N64. EGM, a print publication at the time, said it was great, but it'd be better with a 2nd one to control the camera easier, based on some PC controllers having that ability.

When I say no one asked for it, it isn't a stupid thing to say, or an excuse. It's a generality. Even now, no one is really asking for it. When I say no one, I'm saying the general market doesn't care, and aren't clamoring for it. Fan boys are making it a big deal, and maybe one day it will be, but the importance being placed on it is more than it really deserves for the time being.

IMissJimRyan1887d ago

I agree with most recent articles. A lot of them are claming that streaming, cloud computing and subscription are the future of the games.

BUT, I think that will be the future because it's better for the companies and not for the consumers.

nucky641887d ago

i think the companies will lose a decent amount of gamers (and money) if it goes to all digital/sub.....and missiing out on money is never good for companies - so, until high internet speeds are readily available everywhere, it won't happen.

IMissJimRyan1887d ago

Maybe they lose some tradicional gamers. But they will reach a broad audience that is unreacheble now.
Think about Netflix. Lage base but some lost in The process.
In the end The money must be bigger.

ILostMyMind1887d ago

@locomorales
Streaming games is not the same as streaming movies. And it never will be.

ILostMyMind1887d ago

Don't sign it. They will get the message.

IMissJimRyan1887d ago

Never is a strong word. I don't think they are aiming for 100% of today's game base. If they lost (and they will) some on the road it's fine. The broad audience will compensate the loss.

Undestand One point: companies dont want only us. They want everybody. Maybe game streaming is not technical achievable today, but movies and music were not yesterday too.

Garry's Mod Removing All Nintendo Content From Steam Workshop After Takedown Request

The developer of Garry's Mod has announced it is in the process of removing all Nintendo-related content from Steam Workshop after receiving a takedown request from Nintendo.

gurp1d 13h ago

first emulation, now this
even though I don't play Garry's Mod, it is still bad

Inverno1d 13h ago

I was reading it's all just false reports from a troll who's done things like this in the past and not Nintendo themselves.

-Foxtrot1d 4h ago

Well the games creator Gary Newman confirmed it himself on Twitter.

Inverno21h ago

Seems that's still being debated.
