Metro Exodus Will Not Have Side Quests

From GameWatcher: "Metro Exodus, the third game in the wonderful Metro 2033 FPS trilogy, is very nearly here, and we've just had an extended, final hands-on with the game. We noticed many interesting details, but perhaps the most curious is the fact that there are no Metro Exodus side quests."

Good! Give me a linear, story driven game like God Of War and Uncharted 4 any day! I don’t have time for side quests and roaming open worlds

I hope you're joking... GoW had a crap ton of side missions lol

Psychotica1926d ago

why what's the rush?Even if it took a year to finish the main story, so what?

annoyedgamer1926d ago (Edited 1926d ago )

Do Sony fans play games other than Sony exclusives? Even the Sony fans I know in person, wont even give a game developed for multiple platforms a look even though I continually make recommendations of good story driven, single player only titles.

DaDrunkenJester1926d ago

For some reason there is a weird thing going around where Sony fans are really passionate about their Linear, emotional, story driven, single player games. Where some of these people won't even look at a game unless it is the things I listed. Just some, not all, but it had become increasingly more of a thing lately.

Hardiman1926d ago

Most of my friends are PS fans/owners and we play loads of multiplat titles. 4A and CDPR are two of my favorite devs. I think we just look for a certain level of quality and are not really fans of how some of the bigger guys nickel and dime in the more annual games.

Livingthedream1926d ago

For me its the opposite I know about 10 peeps that own playstations and none play the Sony exclusives which is odd they're mainly for fortnite, cod, madden and third party games

Atom6661926d ago

Similar to what Livingthedream said for me. I get blank stares when I ask adult gamers if they've played anything thats not that mainstream stuff like COD, FIFA, NBA2k, GTA, etc.

Same things with the other systems too. It blew my mind to see a line of people on Black Friday buying nothing but Activision/EA's annualized offerings.

Any kid under 13 playing anything other than Fortnite or Minecraft is like a damn unicorn where I live.

starchild1926d ago

I think the thing is, if we look at game sales figures, PS4 owners as a whole are actually playing a lot of multiplatform games. It's really only the hardcore fanboy types you run into in comment sections on the internet that try to propagate this idea that exclusives are the end all be all. In real life if exclusives were so much better than everything else you wouldn't see multiplatform games generally selling just as well. And if every PS4 owner also owned a PC as some pretend to be the case you wouldn't see multiplat game sales so strong on PS4 because most would be buying and playing the superior versions on their gaming PCs instead.

Marioraider181926d ago

@annoyedgamer + DaDrunkenJester

Wtf are you drunks talking about? PS4 destroys in sales in multiplatform games. You two are delusional as hell

The Wood1926d ago (Edited 1926d ago )

Of course they do but those aren't what define a console. The higher sales of most multiplats prove this. The thing is many of the exclusives are of a high calibre or quite unique. I've seen Xbox guys downplay not only each of Sony's exclusives (puddle gate) but the whole importance of exclusives full stop because they had hardly any noteworthy ones to shout about. When one is announced for the Xbox their fans celebrate. They use new metrics like 'fun' towards a game that was bare bones and basically crap at launch but berated no man's sky for the same thing. There's no 'better guys' here mate it's just some fans have way more to celebrate than others. Blame/Praise MS/Sony for their output and commitment. When MS had games last gen you couldn't stop Xbox guys from lauding them.

judging from the comments - people aren't reading the article. the devs said there are no set side-quests. however, threre are many places to discover - things to fight and loot to find that do not have to do with the main mission. it's just that they didn't set it up as side quests....you have to wander off the main path to find it on your own - i like this idea.

annoyedgamer1926d ago

I'm not sure why this is making waves, there weren't any real side quests in Metro 2033 or Last Light either.

Razzer1926d ago

But those games were not open world.

annoyedgamer1926d ago

I doubt Metro Exodus is either. The demos i've seen are giving the illusion of an open world but it still looks linear. Multiple paths leading to the same place.

Metro Video Game Series: A Comprehensive History

The Metro video game series started with a humble b-list title, before building a strong fanbase and becoming a pioneer in the industry.

TheBrainZ78d ago

Never got into Exodus, but 2033 was excellent.

kevco3378d ago

Yeah, Exodus just didn't grab me either, sadly.

I absolutely loved 2033 and Last Light, however. Played them both on 360 and then again with the remasters!

anast78d ago

I just started it and it is already miles better than the first 2 which are dated.

I put about 50 hours into playing Sparkle Unleashed.

SurgicalMenace456d ago

Sparkle is a very addictive experience.

Babadook7456d ago (Edited 456d ago )

Nice reminder.

I added Vice City and Metro Exodus.

Mr Logic456d ago

It doesn't work like that. Extra works just like Gamepass or Netflix. Once the game is gone from Extra, then you can't play it. It does not function like regular PS+ where you "claim" the game and then can play it in perpetuity as long as you have an active account.

Knushwood Butt456d ago

Yep, I confirmed this with RDR2 a couple of months ago.

CobraKai455d ago

Is there an average life span for a game before it gets removed? I have a few games on GP I started but couldn’t finish cuz they’re gone. Now there’s this feeling of having to playthrough games before they go. I shoulda just bought em outright.

jznrpg455d ago

6 days is enough time for for Metro . Probably not for Vice City though I’ve never played it

Pedrof456d ago

Guess I'll hurry on playing Saint's Row 3 Remastered.

MONOLITHICIDE455d ago

How come content gets removed? Also why are there barely and ps1 ps2 ps3 games on there.

Smitty2020455d ago

Wish they would just add more classics

jznrpg455d ago (Edited 455d ago )

I believe they want trophy support before they put it on the service so they have to patch them in first .
I hope they do get the best jRPGs of PS1/2, actually just about all JRPGS would be my preference but that’s asking a lot especially since they don’t own many of the IPs. They do own IP they haven’t put on it yet . The service is new so there is still hope for more .
Unfortunately it’s very possible we are the minority who want old games on the service and mainstream want PS4/5 games mainly is my guess.
I am going to post wherever I can and let Sony know many of us older fans want a lot more PS1/2 games on the service or even just to purchase would be fine with me but preferably both .
Hopefully they do more games like they did Arc the Lad , Rogue Galaxy , Dark Cloud 1&2 , Okage etc . But I agree they need more .
I only want the old games with trophies as I’m sure I own just about everything I would want to play but my versions don’t have trophies.
