PlatinumGames is making what looks like a spiritual successor to Ōkami

PlatinumGames has unveiled World of Demons, an action game that pits samurai versus yokai in what looks very much like a spiritual successor to Ōkami, leaning as it does on traditional Japanese folklore and mythology and featuring artwork that's heavy on parchment textures and drawn with thick, tangibly inked lines.

Oh, and another thing. It's a free-to-play mobile game that's being published by partner DeNA.

Almost got my interest until I read it was a mobile game

The 10th Rider2611d ago

Yeah, all these sites are posting news stories about Platinum's existing new game . . . conveniently leaving out that it's a mobile game in the title of the article.

SuperSonic912611d ago

Yeah I saw DeNA

Anyways if Sega wont make a Shinobi game then PGames vets my support.

wraith99992610d ago

why..why..why its for the mobile.. at first Konami with Castlevania..and now this..

-Gespenst-2611d ago

No one official has said that this is related to Okami. No reason to be disappointed.

Snookies122611d ago

Nope, not interested in Mobile. I have two games I play on my phone, and it's mainly when I'm bored.

blackblades2611d ago

I'm curious what are they? mine is mine sweeper.

Elda2611d ago

Mobile pass.Console yes!

Godmars2902611d ago

By art style somewhat. Otherwise has more in common with Toukiden.

Also looks overly intricate and involved for mobile. Maybe a year or so later it'll come to consoles/PC?

And there was much non-rejoicing...

gamer78041529d ago

Yah weird. Just focus on bayonetta please...

CobraKai1529d ago

Almost. I saw Platinum Games and took a deep breath. Then I saw Apple Arcade and let out a big sigh

masterfox1529d ago

what a waste on releasing on just mobile, still who knows maybe Apple payed to develop it.

Magog1529d ago

Probably just paid for some timed exclusivity.

Michiel19891528d ago

i doubt it actually. Mobile games have low development costs and a high potential in sales possibly. A lot of studios started just developing mobile games on the side, not saying thats a good thing for gamers, but sadly its the truth.

Man Apple Arcade has been a great move for me so far. PlayStation 5, Series X, Switch, Apple Arcade..... the damn gaming does not stop nor slow down at my house.

barom1529d ago

Apple Arcade killing it. They got that Sakaguchi game coming too. Better than GamePass.

Sephiroushin1529d ago

its not better than gamepass and Fantasian already released, go play it!

barom1529d ago

Haha yeah my comment was a hyperbole but I can definitively see Arcade be a real competitor in the not too distant future. Currently a lot of games overlap with Switch so I suspect Nintendo could lose a lot of market share.

And awesome going to have to sign up for Arcade

Sephiroushin1529d ago

Yea i hardly play games on mobile but i got a phone the other day and had 3 months free so i took advantage of it, im playing both but on a mac not a fan of mobile gaming still thinking about that disgaea rpg for mobile cries!
