Sea of Thieves Patch Notes - 1.0.3

Despite a polarizing reaction at release, Sea of Thieves quickly garnered a sizeable userbase, crossing two million unique players in its first 48 hours. With that growth comes growing pains, however, and developer Rare has been consistently pushing out patches to correct lingering bugs and balance issues.

Yeah but Nar too late, you can't release a game that's barebone and than promise content in the future.

It took them 4 years to build this game which includes two ship types, skeletons and 3 quest variables.

To late, people will move on after their 14 day game pass has expired, which would be about this week.

Go on report the active users now. Zzzz

JayRyu2205d ago

I see your point but...Hmmm let's see

Destiny 1
No man's sky
Street fighter 5

These games released with shiny graphics but bare bones as well. They all faired pretty well with content being added later on. (It does suck that some games release this way)but it doesn't mean that Rare can't added some more features to the game to make it more enjoyable.

Gaming_1st2205d ago

Funny you mention those games, when they had tons of more content at launch then SOT.

JayRyu2205d ago (Edited 2205d ago )

Funny, yes...because street fighter only had two modes. No man's sky Had more content? Where was was it? Destiny 1, when it first released was a game that could finished a in under a hour. So where is the "tons of content"?

IRetrouk2205d ago (Edited 2205d ago )

Ok for one you had an actual story, with an actual endgame, you had crafting to do, resorces to manage and collect and ships and guns to upgrade, planets and animals needed exploring too, also your suit etc needed to be upgraded, and that was day one before any content drops, nms had more to do on day one, thats a fact, sot has literaly the same 3 missions, no crafting, no upgrades, no story, no anything other than a bit of fun with friends.

Cyborgg2205d ago

It's worse for Microsoft because they don't have too many great exclusives this gen

Prince_TFK2205d ago (Edited 2205d ago )

No Man’s Sky is procedurally generated so I would be surprised if it doesn’t have more content. However, how many of those contents aren’t just copy-pasted of eachother? What do you do in the game before tons of updates were released?

SFV had only two modes and was missing lots of classic fighters. It needed lot of updates also. And Destiny 1, well, you don’t need me to explain that.

Point is, even if SoT has barebone content, it is a “live service” game, which mean it gonna get better and better with each updates. Give it time.

IRetrouk2205d ago

I will give it time just like i did with plenty of other games over the years, but to say nms had anywhere near the missing content of sot is silly, ive played both at day 1, clear difference in terms of what was there etc, it my have been procedural but it still had way more game to play than sot.

butchertroll2205d ago

No Man's Sky really had more content and more stuff to do at launch compared to Sea Of Thieves

3-4-52205d ago

Destiny 1 had 10x the content that SoT has....this game is terrible and so was Destiny 2.

Kumakai2205d ago (Edited 2205d ago )

The whole point is to be a game as a service. That means it is always going to updating and evolving, and using things like community events etc. Like destiny, gtaV, forza etc. the launch was just the base game. Like it or not I don’t care but that’s how it’s supposed to work.

Ricegum2205d ago

You're comparing this to GTA? Lol. Even base Destiny had far more content than this.

Dacnn82205d ago

Did you tell them your wallet would evovle over time. Or did they ask for the whole 60 dollars up front?

Gunstar752205d ago

How many hours did u put into Sea of Thieves before you reached your conclusion and got bored?

None I imagine

JayRyu2205d ago

Still playing with friends and having fun bruhda! So we haven't reached the pirate legend goal yet?

Gunstar752205d ago

@JayRyu. Sadly I don't get to play as much as I like but I'm probably around 50 hours and with a full crew it's a fantastic game

combatcash2205d ago

People are just hating on here bruh, most players got a good 20 plus hours of gameplay. I would say that's more game time than the average game.

Could Helldivers 2 Be PlayStation’s Sea Of Thieves?

Opinion: Why Helldivers 2 and Sea of Thieves, despite their obvious differences, are very much the same for PlayStation and Xbox

Tired of these MS fluff pieces. Sot does not come close to what hd2 does.

danno_omen5d ago

You should probably read the article then, I wasn’t comparing the actual games

Cacabunga5d ago

How can it be PS sea of thieves when SOT is on PS5? Were you just in a hurry to write something??

MrNinosan5d ago

Make a less click baiting headline next time, and people might read bwfore judging.

z2g5d ago (Edited 5d ago )

people don't understand nuance or abstract thought. they just hear two games and decide they like one better than the other so the one they don't like can't be anything close to the one they like. I get that you are speaking in a larger context, not a direct comparison. it could be a huge community building game that has a long burn that could also extend to other platforms and or be cross platform. it could be like sea of thieves in that regard etc. never mind the knuckle draggers on this site. its impossible to have a reasonable, objective conversation here.

I know the headline is a bit bonkers but it is otherwise a good read apart from that.

InUrFoxHole5d ago

Lol you didn't read it. It's just suggesting that it would be beneficial for gamers if HD2 came to xbox. Like sea of thieves did. Don't get in your feels over it.

Magatsuhi5d ago

Its a click bait article. It benefits only xbox to bring a successful game to their failure of a console.

InUrFoxHole5d ago

Lol you big 😠 😡. Just wait till the showcase!

GamerRN5d ago (Edited 5d ago )

Yeah, this site just constantly has so many positive Xbox sm articles, I'm tired of them also... 🙄

z2g5d ago

what a surprise, more basic thinking from basic gamers. the comparison it could be a huge community building game that has a long burn that could also extend to other platforms and or be cross platform. it could be like sea of thieves in that regard etc.... sorry thoughts get more abstract than what your brain can seem to handle

Sonic18814d ago (Edited 4d ago )

Well Helldivers 2 might be releasing on Xbox in the near future

So, no one wants to talk about how the PS5 outperforms the xbox version in multiple ways, huh?

purple1014d ago

Draw distance better / shadows better

Also he calls most ps5 “oddity’s” and uses the term “not sure why this is happening” a lot

Ps5 is just more powerful, those 2teraflop difference and Xbox fanatics saying world most powerful console, is worth zip- zero

Sea of Thieves Welcomes 40 Million Players

Joe 'Three Sheets' Neate (Executive Producer): "As I’m sure you can imagine, when it comes to Sea of Thieves my days are full of numbers. Development costs, active servers, days until the next update… Sometimes, though, a truly extraordinary number stands out – a number like 40 million, which I’m incredibly pleased to say is the number of pirates who’ve now set sail in Sea of Thieves!"

Crows908d ago (Edited 8d ago )

40 million have set sail...that's great. How many are sailing now? Monthly active users....when it actually matters. How many people purchased the game is another important number.

Gamingsince19818d ago

You don't get numbers like that from MS mouth pieces, they just like to say stuff like "this game was looked at 129 million time, the biggest amount of people browsing a game of this genre on xbox gamepass ever in the last 3 weeks compared to before gamepass was out (small print only 2 million bothered playing longer than 20 seconds and only 100 people are playing it concurrently)

It's all smoke and mirrors

nibblo8d ago

There are usually around 10,000 concurrent users on Steam not counting Xbox or PS but really it doesn't matter as long as there are enough people on the servers to play which there always were and will be for a long time now with the PS players coming on board. Same goes for how many people bought it and how many are on GP, we aren't the accountants of these console companies so why would we care?

Hofstaderman8d ago

Reporting on MAU stats is very misleading. Other companies publish units sold, MS cannot or will not due to Game Pass. We all know that their prior startegies have not panned out so now they have to actually sell games on other consoles. In any case, SoT is doing impressive preorders on PS5 and will very likely motivate Satya to release more games other than the four indicated games on their competitor's consoles. Take note Phil is radio silent....

Jingsing7d ago (Edited 7d ago )

Yeah Microsoft would tell you the start menu has had 1 billions clicks on Windows 11 to let you know it is beating Windows 10 when the reality is something else. 10,000 concurrent steam users is enough for me to extrapolate there aren't millions playing this on console either. Lets not forget the motivation to bring this to PS5 is already an admission of poor player count. I'd prefer it is Microsoft would just say nothing when it comes to numbers as it makes them look stupid while trying to make everyone else look like an idiot.

40 Mil across Stream, Windows 10, and Xbox. Healthy numbers for sure, but when PC is the biggest platform, I expected more. It’ll be interesting to see how it does on PlayStation. Very well could be double that player count in 6 months with PS too. It’s crazy for developers to skip the most popular platform, not sure why they’d want to, but they must have had their rea$ons.

Christopher7d ago

PC is the market with the most competition for these type of games as well, so it's actually easier to break in on consoles where these games aren't as prominent.
