Don't know much about the history of PSU here, but it's mostly the clickbait posters. Every site has their clickbait headlines, depending on the writer, but to post it willy nilly like this, word for word, not reading or caring about the contents..

PSU used to be great. It was my go-to for PlayStation news for many years but a couple years ago they were bought out or decided to suck (?) and I haven't been back since. Really good site from about 07-12.

Sigh, why is it so hard to understand for people that 'name change' isn't a firmware thing? It's something that has to be done on the backend, on the server side, in the database. All it needs is a webpage somewhere on the accounts settings page so you can change it there.

Perhap, they could add an UI to the firmware to do it there as well but it's not necessary and I doubt when they launch it that it will have something in the firmware for it...

It would have to be a FW update if they were to add that function in the menu options on the console. It's an option available on the Xbox's system software, so I don't see why they wouldn't do the same thing on the PS4.

Yeah they could, but it's not something that needs to be done in firmware like many of the other features we want that can't be done anywhere else. The actual brunt of the work is on the server-side, then they can choose whatever user interface they add so users can use it, either a web page, in firmware or both
