Best Horror Games of 2017

2017 is coming to a close but many of us have yet to play some of the great games of this year. The horror genre was greatly underappreciated within the triple-a market and the indie scene came to the rescue with games such as Outlast and Five Nights at Freddy's. In 2017 we saw some incredible horror games release from both indie and triple-a developers. Here are the best horror games of 2017.

EA's Battle Front 2..would have been scary for everyone if this came to pass as is with all those DLC BS.

NecrumOddBoy2322d ago

RE7 is the best in this category.

uh... hellblade isn't a horror game...

megamanxvolnutt2324d ago

Hellblade is a psychological horror action-adventure video game.

ziggurcat2324d ago (Edited 2324d ago )

no it's not. it's a video game about mental health.

roadkillers2321d ago

I'm sure mental insanity is scary.. This is literally the only game I haven't played that I want to. The idea that they worked with people who had mental insanity and created, from what I hear, a phenominal game is fantastic.

I mean I'm not saying there's not psychological terrifying things inside of the game simply that in regards to the genre horror I don't really believe it fits in that category.

_-EDMIX-_2321d ago

It's like semi-horror lol

I agree I don't think it's enough to really put in the horror category.

PygmelionHunter2322d ago

Unforgiving: A Northern Hymn is also pretty scary, though it does get tedious at times.

For what its’s worth, I recommend at least checking it out for a bit.

I loved Markipliers Let's Play of it. Cool to see some indie horrors actually being decent.

Hellblade was a horror game?

Gardenia2321d ago

No it's not but some think that with monsters in the game it automatically makes it a horror game

Segata2321d ago

Mass Effect Andromeda faces.

Cyberpunk and No Man's Sky have to be up there. We're lucky and cursed, equally, to have games that can be updated now. For folks old enough to remember the Sega/SNES into PS1 and even 2 eras, if a game came out that was half baked (*cough*Angel of Darkness*cough*) that was it, no redemption. At the same time, having the option for updates shouldn't be an excuse for half assing games.

I remember when the Nintendo Seal of Approval meant something.

All those games had to release without bugs.

Comebacks shouldnt be a thing in videogames. Just saying.
