Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition Announced for PlayStation 4 and Windows PC

If what I've read is correct, all season 1 & 2 characters come with the arcade edition but those with the base game just unlock everything but the season pass characters in a free update, in January next year.

I don't know, Capcom specifically said no other version was coming.

Now we have a new version with all the characters unlocked. I would be upset if I grinding or spent money believing this time what Capcom said about not releasing a special version.

It's cool the update is free for owners but it won't refund the money they might have spent on those extra characters.

Why would Capcom refund the money people spent on the DLC characters? The free update does not include those characters.

Its like this:

1. You own SF5. You download the FREE update that does not include DLC characters.

2. You don't own SF5. You go buy it for under $20 with no DLC characters, then update for free, with no DLC characters. Then pay for DLC characters if you want them.

3. You buy the new version for a higher cost that includes everything, including all S1 and S2 DLC characters.

Why would they refund someone who has SF5 and DLC characters that update to this version for free? They aren't getting all those characters they paid for free now. It would be different if they were handing out those characters at no charge now, but they aren't. They Arcade edition that comes with those DLC characters is more expensive....because it comes with those characters.

It's just a repackage, it's not exactly the same as previous sf games so yeah what Spoton said it's like goty edition. End of the day the vanilla will get the new stuff for free just like any other date. No re-purchasing like sfiv just like capcom said as well. No regrets I enjoyed the game I still don't have to buy any version that comes out.

How is this relevant? You still only need one disc for the full game. The player-base will stay intact. So I'd say they've kept their promise so far. This is as much a new game as Horizon: Zero Dawn Complete edition is (or any other Goty version with bundled in dlc for that matter).

Yes it's free but they still 'sort of' went back on their word about how there wasn't going to be an ultra/super/arcade or whatever they want to call it edition. Even a Complete or Definitive edition would be considered going back on their word.

Most every one of those monikers implies its a repackage of the original with some added content (doesnt matter if paid or free). Capcom could just leave things the way they are and release this as another patch/update without having to re-release it.

I already know what this Arcade Edition contains and I know it will be free to people who already bought SFV, so nobody is getting screwed over. 😑

In the future people will use SFV as an example of how greedy out of touch publishers can ruin one of their biggest and most profitable gaming brands.
This game could've been glorious, it could've been the talk of the town, the bees knees, the cool kid at school, but instead Crapcom decided to slice it up and sell it to us in pieces.
File next to Hitman in the "successful game series destroyed by moronic greedy publishers" section.
I hope the SF series can bounce back from the utter horror show that became SFV.

They've improved already. It sits at around 5.5 frames on PS4 and at around 4 frames on PC with Vsync turned off. Obviously there is still room for improvement especially on the PS4 but it's not really a problem anymore. 4 frames is pretty much the best you can realistically hope for.
