Xbox is close to being a brilliant games platform, but it needs games to get it there

EG would say this, but Microsoft's decision to reveal the specs of Scorpio, its Xbox One hardware refresh, exclusively through Digital Foundry was a very smart move.

It's already a worthwhile platform for the people who enjoy it

@FallenAngel1984

Well, i can see a lot of Playstation only gamers making the jump to Xbox when and if MS show compeling new games and fair price for the Scorpio unlike the other way around with the Pro. I´m not saying they will leave Playstation though. But i do think that all that hate is just smoke and mirrors.

Even some N4G fanboys will do it as well. Just watch. ;)

TheColbertinator2512d ago

Smoke and mirrors is a good way to describe this console generation.

Gaming_Cousin2512d ago

All the hate is smoke and mirrors? Yeah lets just call it that and ignore the lack of Xbox One games. Its just smoke and mirrors

kneon2512d ago

Not without real exclusives. I've already got at least 2 PCs that smoke the Scorpio, without worthwhile true exclusives it would be pointless for me to buy an xbox.

Obscure_Observer2512d ago (Edited 2512d ago )

@Gaming_Cousin

Calm down, man. Nobody is ignoring or denying the fact that Xbox One is lacking of exclusives, studios and new ips. MS is well aware of that too. I mean, come on, it´s a well known fact all across the internet.

MS will have their chance to show some positive advancements in this regard at E3 so lets just wait till the end of the show, shall we?

Obscure_Observer2512d ago

@kneon

If you trully own 2 powerfull rigs, you don´t need to buy a Scorpio at all! At least, that´s what some people around here would advice you to do.

The title is a backhanded complement haha, true as it may be. Xbox is 3 1/2 generations old, if MS hasn't worked out by now that games sell consoles - will they ever?

Obscure_Observer2512d ago

@xX-oldboy-Xx

To be completely honest, i hope they still in second this generation but giving Sony a run for its money. ALL companies become arrogant and complacent once they reach the top spot. MS was no different than Sony and Nintendo. They though gamers would eat it up everything they throw at them and now they are paying for it. After Mattrick, the time for reconstruction of the Xbox brand is will be completed this Sunday. After that, it will be all about Phil´s vision for Xbox. Xbox One S and Scorpio are his children and i think Xbox will be at good hands.

Time will tell. Until then, positive thoughs and fingers crossed.

InTheZoneAC2512d ago

when you've been around for over 10 years and you continue to fail to bring in games I think it's time to wrap up

ninsigma2512d ago

Agreed. It's becoming quite a nice platform and services wise, I think MS do well for their customers. However their game output is severely lacking. If they don't fix that it's going hurt Scorpios chances of success. E3 could be the turn around and the revamp the brand needs but then again, I feel like that's what we've been saying every e3.
