Death Stranding Director Hideo Kojima said at Tribeca Gaming Festival that he's exploring more storytelling techniques. While Kojima didn't mention any specifics, there's possibly a few clues on how he'll do it in Death Stranding.
Death Stranding continues to spark conversation years later as its impact and relevance grow beyond its original release ahead of the upcoming sequel.
That's not proof, it's your opinion
which means you are lying, or you are a writer for a living who doesn't know what "prove" means
which is it?
March 31st, 2025 – KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS is proud to announce that DEATH STRANDING has connected over 20 million porters across PlayStation®4, PlayStation®5, PC, XBox, iOS platforms, and Amazon Luna.
Man I love this game. Platinumed it and played through it a 2nd time just for fun. I'm day 1 with bells on for the sequel
In still drop in this world from time to time. I just played it yesterday.
Plenty of games have made a name for themselves as being proud of the fact they’re not to everyone’s taste over the years.
Okay, but "games I'm not meant to love" means I won't play them.
Games are for fun. They're their own art, it's a disservice to reduce them to interactive stories. You can focus on making your audience entertained on a positive way and still stand out.
No game is for everyone. Some games are more mainstream or casual friendly but there is always someone who won’t like it. Same with anything else
Lets hope its not the phantom pain storytelling or its doomed.MGS 3 & 4 were superb...
Make it great.
Since Kojima is starting over, he needs to approach the story with care. Avoid loopholes and inconsistencies. I worry that Mikkelsen sounded lost on the story. I don't mind some complexity; I encourage it. It just needs to be coherent when the time comes.
Doesn't surprise me since during development Phantom Pain Kojima felt copious amounts of dialogue had become outdated, so Death Stranding will probably focus more on visual flair as opposed to exposition heavy cutscenes. If the trailers are any indication this is probably true.
I'd very much like to play a Kojima game without Kojima dialog/storytelling. I cringed myself into oblivion when I played Phantom Pain every time someone opened their mouth to speak.
"A different game has a different story/story-telling narrative than a completely different series!"
No fucking shit sherlock. I mean, this would imply that you see Kojima as a one-trick pony who can only do storytelling one way? Cmon.
